Consider flying to Nelson if you don't have great sea-legs, or buy a flexible ferry ticket so you can cherry-pick your crossing. FYI - the Cook Strait is one of the most dangerous stretches of water in the world (due to its tidal anomalies) - in 1968 the interisland Ferry Wahine sunk close to the entrance of Wellington Harbour, with a loss of over 50 lives. Of course things have improved since then - crossings are cancelled if required 😍.
Watching the videos of you in NZ makes me so emotional. I can’t believe I started crying when you showed Wellington! I miss it so much! To me Wellington is my home even tho I have only lived there 1,5years but it’s too expensive to study there for me and as a Uni student I can’t afford the flight from Germany at the moment... Just miss my friends and the vibes. Days Bay is the best 👌🏻

This made me so nostalgic watching this. I lived in Wellington for a year. The hangar was just down the road from where I lived and I was there a least once a week for brunch!
The coffee and brunch there was ON POINT 👌🏼- Wellington is so cool!

I did part of my student teaching in New Zealand and over their break, was able to travel throughout the country for 2 weeks. This makes me miss New Zealand so much and want to go back!! ❤️🇳🇿

I went on the cook Strait ferry once and the entire journey was covered in mist you couldn't see a damn thing it was eerily majestic

Love that you're enjoying the fab kiwi tucker. A heads-up if you have more time in Wellington is to head up to the spectacular Taraura Forest Park (approx. 90 km north of Wellington). Smart move staying in Picton - the crossing can be rough and a car journey afterwards unwelcome. Beware milkshakes, lol!!!

Hope you loved Wellington, spoilt for all kinds of culture choice. Thanks for getting a cabin on the ferry, been on the ferry a few times, but not seen the cabin. I'm so getting a family one next time to chill out in peace. Though the views of the sounds are always incredible, too beautiful to miss.

Not sure if you have visited Christchurch yet but you should check out lyttelton which is just through the tunnel from Christchurch. Great little port town with good food.
I went to University in Wellington for the last few years and honestly it's crazy seeing you guys cruising round the streets I got so used to calling a second home! I love Wellington and it's awesome culture! Also great to see you heading around the North island as a lot of people write it off a bit and just go to the South island which is great for adventure and nature travel but culture is definitely more prominent throughout the North island! It's also crazy to think that those lush green hills you guys describe are like normal to me, and definitely makes me feel lucky to call this place home! How are you finding driving on the left?

Hey Katie, to be honest it can kind of be a pain in the butt with the airlines but if you can swing it, pack light, then it’s totally worth it. Having the guitar around is so nice
Greetings from NZ. You could pick up a cheap second hand one in NZ. And if it gets damaged or scratched it wont matter that much. Check out "Trade Me" They are about $35NZ and up. There are some cheaper ones listed as well. Cheers.

as a kiwi of ...many years... i'm kinda sad to say i've never stayed in Picton. maybe because i had family in Motueka, or maybe because i just wanted to head on home to Christchurch and Timaru but after this i really want to spend some time there (Picton)
I was living in nz for about one year but never took the ferry from wellington...i had to take flights instead ..my time was tight unfortunately ....i wish i can come back

I have recently found the vagabrothers and love their channel!! I am starting my own travel vlog this summer, and I will 100% be applying her video editing style to my videos with the cuts and talks (minus the drone shots, haha).
