    I prep the house for AIR BNB guests. Making money from our property while we are away has lead to more holidays/better holidays. We always travel over Christmas, long weekends and these are the times people want a place to rent. Money while we sleep!!! People ask me, but you have people sleeping in your bed, I say, when you travel you sleep in hostels/hotels where you sleep on beds that no doubt have seen way more crazyiness, but you’re ok with that?

My husband & I headed for an overseas trip & our power had tripped while we were gone & our freezer switched off, needless to say, we returned home & all our meat was rotten & our house stank to hell. It wasn't a good experience & we try to use up all our meat before a long overseas holiday now.

    great tips!! i have to write out a list when it comes to travel of what to bring or else.....i will forget. i start the week before or the week off and just start getting things together and then making it down to the last minute stuff (brush, what not other stuff i still need to use before packing them) and then with it comes to my camera, i always make sure the memory card is completely cleared of any photos (always great to have a fresh memory card to use when taking lots of photos from your trip and don't have thousands of photos from past events and from the trip) and can start with day one. i always make sure i have full charged batteries. if the the place has a outlet, then i plan on bringing my camera battery charger and my phone charger, though i do have it charged in advance. sometimes i bring my laptop, sometimes i don't. even though some places are stocked with a bed and have pillows and blankets, i bring my own. i am a light sleeper and don't sleep too well if i'm not comfortable. i have a blanket that use to be my grandmas and i use it to place on the fitted sheet and can lay right on top of it. and i have a pillow i really like, it doesn't flatten like most pillows, stays in it's shape when you sleep on it. and i make sure i am kept plenty occupied or else....i can get very bored and antsy, especially when sitting in the backseat of a car for too long

    Excellent tips. 2 others - check your house and contents insurance policy - some companies have a limit on the number of days your house can be unoccupied and may require an additional premium. Also, clean toilets and leave the lids down to avoid flys leaving nasties upon your return, lol!!! Happy & safe travels. Ciao.😀

    Hey guys, useful vlog! I put my house plants in the kitchen sink and in the bath tub. I stand them on unturned pots and cover the pots with dish towels. I then fill the sink or bath with water up to immediately below the plant pots. The cloths soak up the water and the plants take what they need and no more. Both dies of thirst or drowns. The risk is, though, the you come to love your bathtub with lush plants. My partner was not so thrilled at my suggestion to leave them there..... He loves a soak in the tub and it save me the money of buying new plants for the house. Travel well guys

    I always have a checklist of things to do and check before I leave for a trip. I do most things mentioned here: locked doors and windows, blinds down, unplug most devices, check tabs and sinks, throw away the trash. I always have a separate list for things I have to pack in the morning or before I leave for my flight like toothbrush, phone charger, passport, money etc.

  • @lohphat
    @lohphat Před 5 lety +1

    I recommend using LED bulbs (e.g. from LFX) which offer an infra-red lighting mode to illuminate a dark house -- you of course need security cameras which have a good night vision mode.
    Also, t-mobile offers a very reasonable international roaming plan with essentially unlimited data -- all for $90 a month. I travel internationally a lot and I never need to go into roaming mode. My Android phone has a wifi calling mode so as long as I have a wifi signal I can call to the US for free! (this isn't Skype it's my real GSM US number tunneled over wifi). So I can use my phone away from wifi and not have a huge roaming bill.

    Another option is airbnb or house sitting. There is an app for both of those I believe. When I was gone for 8 weeks last summer I had someone house-sit there, you don't pay and it makes sure that your fur-children and plant-children stay safe.
