  • The intelligence alliance known as the "Five Eyes," which includes the United States, the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, announced on June 5th that the Chinese military has been recruiting Western military talent to train its personnel. This statement, released by the U.S. National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC) on behalf of the U.S. government and the other four countries, highlights that the Chinese military has been utilizing private companies in South Africa and China to hire active or retired Western fighter pilots, flight engineers, and air combat personnel to train Chinese Air Force and Navy pilots. They're also recruiting experts with deep knowledge of Western military tactics.

    This has been going on for some time, but those Westerners who subsequently work for the PLA risk being charged and imprisoned on return to their countries. Arrest, demotion and imprisonment is a strong deterrent to assist the PLA (e.g. training PLA pilots) and this is becoming more and more likely and prevalent these days. Thrse assistances will be less likely now under the strained political and economic relationships between the West and China.
    The CCP is strongly behind the eightball militarily, if it cannot develop these carrier combat skills on their own. This is copycat again. The Western carrier pilots expect equal expertise in combat with opponents against them. Hence, the CCP seems to be unable to develop novel naval tactics on its own terms. The Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) was able to develop it's own novel carrier based tactics on the late 1930s- early 1940s, so this backwardness is a political-cultural function of the CCP. Not because they are Asian and totalitarian (because Showa Japan was).

    • @effexon
      @effexon Před 12 dny +2

      I thought there are parallels with japanese and chinese extreme collectivism, even more so with chinese as japanese have westernized somewhat in past decades, chinese havent and their system favors copying things exactly, not creativity at all. IJN was bleeding edge early 1900s too, thus managed to crush russian navy 1905. they had trained over 10 years rigorously to achieve that top level back then. WW1 and WW2 era tech development was fast and armies somewhat equivalent (or very narrow gap) so that alone wont explain much. navies it is even more so, history full of examples cunning smart tactics and strategy along quick to adapt in weather and opponent moves is key. Essentially I connect this navy thing what japanese try to do in team sports to bring creativity they lack vs european and western teams... every other aspect they have honed to perfection.
      Remember anecdote some scandinavian coach went to train chinese women hockey team(or other winter sports) and they fired him for not being strict enough couple weeks before games began. Coach tried to lure out mental creativity, strength what is needed in highest level of sports to handle pressure in key moments.

So that they can work out counters, and compare that what they themselves have, analyse their own shortcomings, and fix them.
