China’s Copycat Rocket Mine System Reveals a Secret: Mainland Could Be Main Battlefield in War

  • Recently, Chinese official media and military blogs have been frequently posting news about military "breakthroughs," from rocket-powered mine clearance to high-speed drones, making it seem as if the Chinese military can do anything. However, looking closely at the reality behind these claims, one can't help but feel concerned about their motives and the potential consequences.
Boom! The dust flies everywhere! In late June, a video of the People's Army using rockets for mine clearance exploded in popularity online. The nationalist fans were thrilled, acting as if the Chinese military was invincible. But this equipment is just a copycat version of the U.S. M58 Mine Clearing Line Charge (MICLIC) system. It has a shorter range and less power, hardly suitable for the modern battlefield.

It's not so much the copying. You can copy and IMPROVE on the deisgn. Check out the humble British small coprtscar that did well in the 1960s and 1970s. Mazda in Japan wanted to build something like that and created the MX5 - they're based a lot off the old MGB, but FAR FAR superior.

If the statements are true which we really don't know for sure they have working hypersonic missiles that exceed mach 19. They have also been observed launching real working hypersonic missiles from jets in Ukraine. Our Mil has not shown to be capable of even that, and ours only boast mach 5. It is prudent to not take a conflict with them lightly that is World War 3. Yeah, military weaponry is probably one of the few things you don't want to cut costs on or make a cheap knock off. Due to reliability needs they are precision manufactured, and always in small lots to ensure that. That's why they are so expensive and require advanced and expensive equipment, which even now, China is unable to copy.
There's a reason why the laser targeting prism of a missile alone costs 40k. You can't out labor precision manufacturing.

You need mine clearing capabilities to overcome minefields while invading another country. The cute robot is nice once the war is over and you can take your time but on the battlefield you need something which can clear large areas fast while under enemy fire.
