This is one of the most graphically intense games I have to ever seen, it's beautiful. Most PS5 games can be said the same, but it's the bright, vibrant colours and textures that puts it on top.

I finally got my PS5 just 4 days ago and have since platinumed Miles Morales and I’m currently in the beginning parts of Rift Apart. I’m LOVING it so much!!!

When "I wanted to play more, make the thing longer" is the toughest criticism you can throw at a piece of art, you know you've made something special. I honestly look for that to come up in a review of anything, because it's my guiding star towards great stuff. I remember reading in high school how Tolkien noted that it was the most consistent criticism he heard from fans of LOTR, and that's stuck with me ever since.
When you're so good that the only complaints are about there's not enough of it 😅
This game I’m so much fun. Yeah graphics are incredible but the game is really freaking good. Same with LOTR. I wish it was 10 books not 3
I mean, you can have it one of two ways: Either you make a perfectly paced, condensed experience that leaves people wanting more, or, you give them more, in which case they will complain that it dragged on lol.
Surprised about the mention of LotR here because I think for many people the problem is precisely that Tolkien can kind of drag on with his detailed descriptions, especially of landscapes. But I guess that's partly what his fans enjoy.

@@idofps9709 I just played tools of destruction for the first time and I had a blast I liked it more than rift apart to be honest I just really like the level design and the music wasn’t bland like it was in this game
My favorite character in the game is Invader Zim. It was amazing seeing him have a redemption arc that gripping while still retaining his destructive self. Owning a arena is such a perfect step for him!

I just got my PS5 today and immediately started it! Absolutely mad that a game has absolutely no loading screens while looking so fucking good.

Jokes aside, it's great to hear that you enjoyed the game as much as you did! I was in the same boat, even after 100%ing it, I went back for another Challenge Mode run immediately just to play a bit more.

Ratchet & clank deserve the mainstream hype because it’s the mario of playstation and after sony disrespect the franchise in the last decade the franchise got the respect and the acknowledgment of being the main Playstation mascot franchise it deserves.
Also if you didn’t like rift apart just wait for the sequel it’s gonna be bigger and better.

This game was the sole reason I bought a ps5 in the first , and it was most definitely worth the hype , can't wait to see what insomniac has next for the franchise .
I pre ordered Rift Apart before release and didn't even manage to snag a PS5 until God of war came out so I had it sitting for a year lol
I get the feeling that they put more focus on the story and characters than expansive gameplay for this particular game because it all works as setup for future games. Not only are more Ratchet and Clank games always an option, but now we have Rivet and Kit for their own games in their own unique universe with a vastly different cast of characters and possible scenarios.
I'm still playing through this masterpiece!
I had a blast Platinuming this and now working my way through upgrading all the weapons fully.
Honestly the fact that platinum doesn't require all gugunspgraded annoys me what ever happened to platinum being for doing everything
@@wingedfish1175 the same problem has a crack in time too.
To speed things up, Cold Snap everything you attack. Even when the Cold Snap is fully upgraded, the extra damage it causes boosts the XP gain of whichever weapon you use. I went from taking 10-20 minutes per level to under 5.
@@ShenDoodles You can do the same with the Topiary Sprinkler if you don't wanna feel quilty using the single most overpowered weapon in the game
The other reason it feels like a movie is due to the essential lack of loading. Nothing I have ever played went from cut scene to playing like this game did.
This was one of like 5 games I've ever 100% It's really easy to get the platinum but very very fun.

@@florianp1283 yep. Just played through RaC PS4 and it was a breeze. Looks like this sequel will also be very easy. Of course if you want to hate yourself, there is always Halo 2 Legendary difficulty.
@@Propane_Acccessories I have the older monster hunters like monster hunter freedom. They are hard too. For some games you need to be kinda a masochist, but if you beat them, you feel like a God.

Yeah I wish they had difficult challenges for some trophies, but I guess it’s to prevent gatekeeping the platinum trophy for more casual players. The only trophy that’s not outright babysteps to get is the trophy for collecting all CraiggerBears

was hoping this game can finally replace A Crack In Time as my favorite of the franchise, unfortunately it didn’t. This is still a great game with tons of promises for the future tho.

I’m assuming this is the first a new trilogy, at least I hope so. So it’s possible this is the equivalent of the original ratchet and clank & tools of destruction.
Meaning we may have two more sequels in the future that really expand like crack in time did.

Can you jump with L1 like in Up Your Arsenal - Crack In Time. It was perfect way to control the camera while jumping and dodging enemy attacks. I really don't get why Nexus took it away. At least they should give the option.

I love the Completionist’s videos. Every one has so much love and dedication to every game.
And not some monotone voice I hear in so many other reviews that are supposed to be "heartfelt"
I don’t always go the completionist route, but with this game I made an exception, because it was so much fun.
This was actually one of the easiest platinum to get. I'd recommend everyone who play this to platinum, I just wish that there were more trophies tied to challenge mode, it is a also sad that challenge mode is the least repayable (As you already unlock all weapon forms)

@@Woupsme Didn't mind that aspect of it, I just enjoyed her as a character. She was deeper than just female ratchet and I personally dug her bladerunner esque backstory and world.

As soon I got Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart on the day of release I spent two straight days fully completing (Ratchet is one of the few franchises I'd willingly complete)
I hope Sony does something to celebrate Ratchet turning 20 next year.

People complain about the game’s length, but I think it’s perfect. Most Ratchet & Clank games are meant to be played twice in challenge mode. Such a fun platinum for me, never once became tedious.

I completed it, and in my second playthrough, since I wasn't looking for golden bolts, spybots, or raratanium for the most part since I knew I needed to wait until I re-collected the map-o-matic to save myself a headache, I blasted through the game's "challenge mode" in one sitting.
It’s great to see Ratchet & Clank still going strong while it’s contemporaries Jak and Daxter and Sly Cooper have fallen by the wayside
Kind of sad for us Sly fans and for Jak fans as well

Also Zurkon Jnr in this game when Ratchet or Rivet buys a weapon or an upgrade, is hilarious. I laughed multiple times, whenever I watched the previews of the different weapons.

This new intro is giving me "The Guild" Season 6 vibes.
Miles Morales and Returnal definitely did a few nice things to let people enjoy the PS5, but Rift Apart definitely is the first game that did a fantastic job in showcasing the power of next gen. Definitely enjoyed my time with it when it came out and definitely deserves to be completed.

The only thing I didn’t like about the story was the “liar revealed” cliche. They did the same thing with Captain Quark in the previous games. It’s just lazy storytelling, you know exactly what’s going to happen.

Kit wasn't a liar. She even tried to tell Rivet the second she realised who she was. She was just cut off by Rivet.
@@ShenDoodles I didn’t mean she was a liar, it’s just what the cliche is called. I suppose you could say lying by omission. Basically the cliche is when in storytelling when a secret is revealed and the two characters have a falling out and the “liar” comes back at the end to redeem themselves and save the day. It’s been done in a ton of things and in previous Ratchet games before. I just think it could have been done better.

This game was amazing, and I'm looking forward to the review. First few minutes were VERY heavily spoilery with talking about Kit and Rivet as the "Dimensional" alternates, and Kit's backstory (before the spoiler note). May want to be more careful in the future for BRAND new games in case people use this for a review.

This game was fantastic. During my play through I thought the game kept getting better and better all the way through to the end. Twice. (NG+)

One of the easiest platinium I’ve ever got
I just got my PS5 a few days ago and so far, from the setup experience, new UI and the Dual Sense, to playing Astro's Playroom and now Rift Apart (my first ever Ratched game and just TONS of fun), it is much more of a "Next-Gen" experience than the Series X, which was pretty much like: "Umm, yeah, it's another Xbox, everything is still pretty much the same, only there are no loading times now. Have fun"
I only wish the PS5 was smaller, quieter (Microsoft really nailed that part, the Series X is pretty much inaudible) and less ugly lol. Basically, the slim version can't arrive fast enough.

The PS5 really only makes noise if you use a disc. My PS5 is dead silent when playing Rift Apart, which I have digitally downloaded
@@charKT-7461 Not always the case, as Sony uses different models of fans (and my library is 99% digital, so the disc drive noise doesn't concern me much). The first PS5 I had was muuuuch louder than the one I have now. But the Series X is still quiter.

There is actually a story that can come from this for Rivet and Kit. Emperor Nef was winning all those times and now that he has tasted defeat he's going to be hell bent on getting revenge on them. Cool title would be "Rivet and Kit - The Emperor Strikes Back"

I have a weird relationship with this game.
On one hand, I recognize how well it is made in pretty much every regard. But on the other hand... Astro's playroom actually left more impression on me than R&C. And I chose that game to underline that it's not just the children cartoon aesthetic and story beats that I have a problem with. True, I don't really find this game's story stimulating enough for me, but I've played a lot of games with worse stories (Like Tomb Raider for example).
I just can't put a finger onto why I'm fine playing Ratchet and Clank games once... and then never get excited for a sequel or want to play it again.
As someone who has played this entire game and recorded it I can say it is phenomenal as well

this sounds great from story to game play it is always a good sign when the harshest criticism you can give is that it should be longer cause you want to play the game more
