Lakers at SAC Kings, 2010 (good game, both teams played hard, ball don't lie)

  • 12-26-2009. This was one of those nip-n-tuck games "all night long" to quote LIonel Richie. Wiki it if you're too young to know who that is. Kobe did a lot of his histrionics, so Kobeheadz will enjoy this one.

I remember watching this live as a Kings fan. Nothing ever scared me more than Kobe at the end of games - absolutely terrifying. RIP

It's amazing to think that Andrew Bynum could still be an effective center in the game today (2021) if he actually liked basketball. Kid was so young when he entered the league.

You wanna think the C position has come full circle again, but is Ayton the only good back-down C of today? If not, how many even traditional back-down Cs are there now whether they're as good as Ayton or not? There probably needs to be more 7 footers who don't shoot treys in order to take us back to even the mid 2Ks centerwise. I don't have much hope of going back to the way it was any earlier than that and certainly not the 90s or 80s.

I think his use would be extremely limited today. The model for a non-spacing/non-creating big now is an athletic freak who covers distance quickly and doesn’t need the ball. Even at his best he wasn’t particularly mobile on either end. Note how even in 2009, he was generally not on the floor in crunch time (Fish/Kob/Trev/Lamar/Pau, what a 5).

@@nonplayerzealot4 the true, back to the basket center is all but dead in today's NBA. ayton is the only one who even comes close. who knows? maybe bynum would've still been playing today at 34 had he been healthy and be one of the few back to the basket Cs left. or maybe he would've added a 3 pt shot like brook lopez, although that 3 he took against GSW in the 11-12 season that got him immediately benched might've been an indication of how that would've gone

Remember how fans used to pine for this lineup? LG (not the smartest of forums, mind you) had daily pleas for it.
Phil didn’t even like having Pau and Drew on the court together for more than 17-18 mins a game, let alone playing them both with Lamar.

This is also the lineup that got smoked in 2011 vs the Mavs when Artest got suspended

13:30 - I knew this was a KCAL issue and not an NPZ issue.

KCAL bleeped this game up as usual, Davo. That's just the 1% of the KCAL glitches that I wasn't able to cut off.
