    You're 100% right about demos. I also wanted to add that seasonal items are a consideration as well. For example, I sell way more fire pokers and ash shovels in the fall and winter than I do any other time of year. As such, I make sure I have a lot in my inventory during those seasons and less in the off seasons.

    Thank you! This is great “secrets” information! Certainly can help guide first few attempts at a show without the fear of going in totally unprepared!

    Definitely interested in more videos on this topic; I just started blacksmithing a year ago, but would love to work towards making a small business out of my hobby. (Yes, I’ve also watched many of your older videos along these lines, but would love to see them revised and refreshed) Thank you for all the fantastic content, I’ve learned so much!

    I was just at an event that denied me demonstration for smithing and my sales dropped over 50% versus the last one I did in the Fall! This is SO true. Folks, stick with the demo events that allow you to fire it up! ❤

    I plan on doing some farmers markets this year for the first time. I would love to do demos and the head of the market really wants me too. If you have any other videos about demo tips, that would be awesome. Love your blanks and the little gifts are always so exciting for me. My wife and I have ordered a decent amount and have never been disappointed. Keep up the good work!

    I forgot to add this. I’m primarily a metal sculpture artist. And I have great sales doing. Wall and tabletop simple wire sculptures of cats dogs. Flowers and small to large metal flowers w leaves / ferns And because of your enameling video s I got inspired to add touches of color. I’m considering going very strong this year on these are great sellers.
    Again thanks

      Fantastic! One recommendation is to make variations on your best sellers. It gives customers more options and brings in more sales. Glad to hear of your interest in enameling! -Jessica at Christ Centered Ironworks

    Thank you for the info. I've done a couple of demo's at some private events in the past. Did sell a little but I had more fun explaining what I was doing and did give some stuff away.

    $300 is a bit low when you have to factor and how much it cost to get their accommodation if it’s a two day event +2 to 3 staff members at minimum wage and food your profits can be gone very fast Isn’t it better to sell more expensive items say $100 and sell 10 of these But I agree you need a cheap range for kids to buy

    • @ChristCenteredIronworks
      @ChristCenteredIronworks  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes, $300 is low. I drew that number from past experience when we did some shows where we were asked to attend and there was a smaller amount of foot traffic. For us it was normally only a 4-6 hour event when we made that much. Having some high dollar items helps but you do need lots of less expensive things for quantity of sales. Great feedback! -Jessica at Christ Centered Ironworks

    Thanks Jessica for the video. I have only done a few craft shows and they did not allow demonstrations but I was talking to a copper/brass smith that was at a show that did a bunch of shows and I told him how people were asking me to come to their future shows and asked me to demo as well. He told me if I demo at a show I needed to charge the show 150 or so and no signup fee and that I can keep 100% of my sales because I would be a draw for people into the show. I have not tried that yet. Have you heard about that?

    • @ChristCenteredIronworks
      @ChristCenteredIronworks  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I was actually going to mention that. Yes, we've charged to do demonstrations before at public events and then they let us set up a display table also. But also getting into a show at no cost to entry in exchange for doing a demo is a good value also. -Jessica at Christ Centered Ironworks
