- Crafting a rose from scrap. The petals are made from sheet metal off an old sauna heater i found rusting away in the woods.
The round stock i found by the sea shore. It was used to bind logs together during shipping.

Thank you for this, I just finished mine. It's going to look good on my moms grave. So again, thank you.💞💖💝💖💞
I would make sure that you treat the metal before leaving it outside. Especially if you intend to leave it there for a long time since it might rust all the way through in places

That’s really nice of you to do that. I hope that it brings you some form of closure or relief. You sound like a good kid.
As a 46 year woodworker who now does woodworking to supplement my retirement, this is exactly the kind of item I have been looking for to add to my wood medium. A wooden vase of these? Sell instantly.
Incredibly well done, and I like yours over numerous others I have seen online.
Thanks, and excellent work! Keep it up!
Glad you like it. I wanted to make the video as this rose does not require special blacksmithing equipment like many others I have seen. Go ahead and make a bunch of them. Hope they will make someone happy!
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your amazing art. Much appreciated!
FinnCrafted: I made a couple of these today.
Few things...I really think the texturing of the petal edges with the edge hammer makes the difference between yours and others. I copied your edging, and it came out great. These little details often make the difference between an average effort, and one that is really outstanding. That simple hammering of the petals with an edged hammer took this from an average metal rose to a hand-hammered beautiful rose, and I appreciate your efforts.
At first I thought you had the bottom rose flower casing the other way around. I reversed mine so the raw edges, any remaining, would be down. Then I re-viewed your video and saw you do the same thing. Good deal!
Finally, I had a problem with the pieces in general staying put on the stem, (they tried to spin), or in this case, the metal rod. I could not get the pieces to hold tight to the bottom of the ground section. I made it work by simply hammering the top of the stem so it was enlarged, then putting on all the pieces from the bottom of the stem. Then holding them fast to the enlarged top, I welded the bottom piece to the rod, which bled through a couple of layers, but made them all tight and ready for forming.
Different, but it worked.
Again, thank you for this video...I am always looking for things to enhance my own skills, and this was one great idea and I can execute it without too much difficulty.
Thanks again!!
Thanks for a long comment! Happy that you had good success with your roses. Hammering the petals does make a big difference, especially the edges. I could not get them to stay put either, so I just let them spin freely and call it an "organic design". Real roses also have what is called a receptacle below the petals, so putting some welds there can actually make it look more realistic.
First time making one after watching this was a success, wish I could post a picture of it . I clear coated the shit out of it. It gave it a nice shine and bonded the loose pedals together. Thanks for the upload!!!!
@Jordon what sheet metal did you use?
0.5 ?
This is fantastic! Thanks for sharing.

I'm looking for that intro song for 5 years now.
Thanks!
Who plays that intro
What are the diameters of the circles? It shows that the first one is 40mm but they appear to be different sizes. The measurements for all the circles would be extremely helpful.
Great job! Well done!
sheer awesomeness. Thanks for sharing that
Awesome work, bravo.
You did a Great Job!
That's beautiful.
Great work!
Of course, you're the artist. It is indeed a unique point 😀
You are very skillful in making beautiful iron flowers
this is beautiful and stunning
I would try and maybe do the rivet a different way. Perhaps grab a piece of flat steel, make a hole in the center bigger than the radius of your rod, and put it on top of the sheets (while they're on the rod like 5:19) and find a way to also clamp it to the rod itself so as to squeeze the sheets against it. Then hammer on the rod sticking out, and squish it down to the oversized hole you'd have on that peace of flat bar. You'd have a nice and solid rivet clamping down the sheets hard (possibly even welded if you heat up the sheets during the process).
I'm really backseating hard right now because unfortunately I don't have the tools to attempt even making that rose in the first place, but the whole thing rattling around as you were grinding gave me anxiety. Also maybe grind it before sticking it on the rose.
Amazing video!
Beautiful!
