I hate parasocial relationships. I’ve gotten to meet some cool people in the past few years and the fear that artists have about people fawning over them almost ruins an experience for me trying to simply talk to them and let them know their music is awesome. Just look at the Wembley performance and its obvious they aren't done. They just updated their masks and completely revamped their live show, plus there's that II drumeo feature. This isn't something they would do if they were quitting with the reputation they had - they're building towards something else. My guess is that they're going to lean more into both the metal and pop-ish sides of their music, rather than the feels, which I say because their new flashy show and masks really scream 'mainstream' to me, and I don't think that's a bad thing. I think it'd be much better to discuss how much longer they'll be going for, rather than if they're quitting now. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a very strict plan for how much music they're going to make before being done. Maybe these 3 albums were a sort of first act for them, who knows.

So, essentially there was this telegram group set up because you can't (obviously) discuss who the people behind the masks are on the subreddit and they wanted to be able to do that and to share unmasked media of them. That's what I understood anyway. I saw a screenshot from the group posted on reddit but I think loads of stuff has since been deleted. The screenshot showed the admin of the group saying they would share all of their birth certificates and unclothed photos of one of the band members. So, I don't think anything was actually shared but it does seem this person was threatening to share them. Either way, it's gross. I think the IG stuff is a separate thing and just marketing. One day later here - it has to be marketing combined with the coincidence of the one member being doxxed. TBH, prior to this we've already have had info on who the members are but most of the fans keep it quiet because the band has requested it. They are not the first entity to clean their social media when gearing up for something bigger and better, nor would they have wasted the money on the new costumes or the step up in hiring extra musicians and dancers to be on stage with them. The story told in the three albums was a beautiful one, one that can be produced into something much bigger too, but now it's time to see what amazing thing they come up with next. I think it began with the rumor made by fans, but I think the band is already planning on announcing/dropping something and took advantage of the moment, because the band already will always get a huge level of attention but having a member delete his account (it’s back up again as of today) and then the day following, the bands official deleting all their posts has gotten literally every outlet and account talking. It’s gotta be some sort of attention grabber at this point to announce something. And if it’s not, then it’s defentily a sucky situation for III and the band I’m sure, but the fact there’s no evidence of the leak, it’s gotta be marketing

Love the video! I never thought about it that much. I just simply saw the headline and moved on and didn’t really think about it or research it so I did believe it. Like I’ve said a few times on this channel this is the reason I stopped following politics. You couldn’t believe anything you saw anymore. There would be no proof and people would post articles and headlines and all of the followers and the page themselves would go around presenting it as fact. A great example is it was said by tons of people after hamas bombed Israel that it was going to be the start of WW3 and that there was an impending terrorist attack here in America and I knew a bunch of people personally who were terrified and were getting worked up and I straight up said nothing is going to happen and nothing major here in America has happened yet

Some people are creepy fucks and that will always be the case. I haven't seen the video yet (20 min until it premieres), but I would suspect that the instagram wipeout was scheduled for a while now for marketing purposes (exactly a month after wembley show is sus) and some sort of announcement is coming.
III has been off social media before when some other fans crossed the line so it's nothing new.
I don't see the "leak" as having been planned by the sleep token team, not sure if this is implied in the video (hopefully not), even if she didn't actually leak anything, that person is really not well from the screenshots I've seen and I doubt the band would do anything like that. I haven't seen proof she leaked anything of substance, she was just creepy stalking the band's friends and relatives for photos and info.

It really depends on what kind of fan group you're talking about. If you're talking about a huge fan group with many members, I'm completely on your side. That said, there are small, private fan groups that will sometimes leak information. The example I have in mind is not a current one, but 12 or 13 years back I was a fan of a youtube channel and really active in the community. Turned out that the person running that channel did some seriously, seriously bad things - and this information was rumored for a long time but never made public. Their channel got deleted and we made clear that something bad happened, but there was a police investigation done privately with the involved people and the exact crime never came to the public eye, to protect the victims.
I'm with you in that the instagram part is likely a marketing strategy, given that we have seen such things a lot in recent years. But I think your argument that without screenshots it's hard to believe that something happened is not too strong, just from personal experience. I think if this happened, it was likely in a small group of fans that can stay relatively private and people will talk about it without sharing screenshots or details - that is what happened in the story I described above. That said, while still really bad it's a different magnitude of doxxing than releasing it so that the whole world can see it.

I have 2 thoughts. First one is what if the supposed "leak" was a chain of misunderstood communications? What do I mean? What if the supposed leaker said that he/she figured out whom the members might be and linked/deleted the source you mention in the video? (No worries I am not spoiling anything. I just watched the video and I am too lazy to do the search right now.) Then the person leaves the telegram room, another person comes in and is told by others what happened, but with alternations, and then the new person mentions it further and say 20 people later it is reported by the press, where everybody along the way changes something in the story along the way, so we go from "I figured out whom the guys are" to "we have birth certificates and addresses of the members" (let's face it we already have mis-reportings of it being just III to all the members (and all supposedly mind you as you said.))
As for the potential new album with the masks change and clear up of their IG. What if they already have the new material written and at least pre-recorded or demoed? I mean their albums were released in '19, '21 and '23. Was it possible they were all written (or at least planned and partially written) before the release of the first one? Let's face it Metallica and Guns N Roses did so with Load/Reload and Use Your Illusion as far as I know. So did Jerry Cantrell with Degradation Trip, it just was that the label orriginaly didn't want to release double album at first. Similarly Red Hot Chili Peppers have had troubles with their label when they wanted to release 7 albums in a short time. While at the same time Lordi released a 7 album collection as Mr. Lordi stated when the plague hit they could not tour so he began writing. Similar thing could have happened with Sleep Token where they picked up the production pace behind the scenes and finished the trilogy way ahead of the schedule and then created extra content. (And I do not even want to mention Psych Synner's infamous 9 albums released all at once, plus another 2 added not that longer after.)
Just my two cents here ;)

I'm a huge ST fan. That being said, i would like to think that you're right. This could be a fabrication by a fan or group. I'm hoping that's the case. I agree that the band isn't behind it, since this perfectly illustrates their reasoning for why they want to be anonymous in the first place. It's about the music, and who is making it doesn't matter at all. If the band was behind it, this would erase all credibility and merit that they've been committed to since 2016. I believe there's obsessive fans that could dox III's info. But with a band that relies so heavily into marketing and gimmicks like Sleep Token, it reeks of marketing. To me it sounds like a combination of fan gossip and marketing and it was either a weird coincidence or a very conscious effort to make people pay attention to a near-future announcement. Whenever a band starts out it’s with a dream of spreading their art, with that comes some sort of urge to recive the credit for the work.
You don’t tour the world cramped in a tiny camper, sleep on shitty hotels and don’t see your family for months on end without some end goal.
That’s hard when you are “anonymous” and when your project suddenly absolutely blows up, that urge will not get smaller.
The recent moves the band has made into giving ii, iii and iv more of an identity, individual masks, interviews ect. Has slowly convinced me that they are stepping away from the whole “secret identity” brand.
This could be a step in that direction too? I think Slowly tearing down the separation between their characters and real world identities would make the transition easier for a lot of fans🤷‍♂️

I saw someone in chat had said that III isn't really credited anywhere except the album itself, so it's possible they're getting a new III. With Vessel and II being the creative force, it's possible they sign contracts with a III and a IV that agree to do recording work and go on a tour for the album.
So then maybe the answer is a combination of everything? Insta getting wiped along with "Nothing lasts forever" feels very marketing to me. Plus, the album title "Take Me Back to Eden" literally implies nothing lasts forever, not even Eden. With TMBTE and the trilogy done and the band presumably starting work on the next thing, they could be signing a new III to the band and wiping the account to give to the next person that comes in. Then either to explain all of this or as the world's best timed rumor, the doxxing story comes out and spreads lightning fast. The answer is usually something in between all the noise, after all
