Metal Will never die
NEVER
You can't kill the metal
The metal will live on
Exactly 💯🎸🥁🎤let's go!!!
If Judas Priest's newest single is anything to go by, I agree. Because I can't think of any other band that's still putting out bangers after 50+ years.
Metalheads for loooooooiiiiiiiife
As Jack and Kyle have said, "You can't kill the metal, the metal will live on."
EVERY SINGLE POST!!!! It was like getting smashed in the face with all the wraps. Then my Apple Music was like "Here is your replay 2023 playlist". And of course, Spaceman and Techno Train were 1 and 2.
As a crew member of eluveitie, its nice to see some love for them in your top songs!
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I had Helvetios on heavy rotation during some bad times - hope you come back to Tokyo sometime because I missed you last time!
2023 had some pretty great metal releases. Possibly the best year in quite a while
I agree. Next year will probably be insane too.
which bands have albums scheduled for release next year?@@TankTheTech
I feel like every year for the past 3 years people have said metal’s been its best in years.
@@tuckerkrause5838although there’s nothing wrong with that. I’ve only started listening to it this year, and i’ve come across so many great albums which have only released in the last 2-3 years
Thanks to Electric Callboy in the last 3 Years i actually rediscovered my love for Metal and i found this amazing Channel :D And they released some good shit this year. Then we had Harper as a young new Face and so many new and older bands releasing Banger tracks. Incredible Year for Metal. I hope 2024 will top this hehe :D
My most listened Song this year was WBTBWB feat Electric Callboy - Hypa Hypa :p I just cant get enough of that hehe
I’m approaching 50. As a pre-teen Michael Jackson’s Thriller was the bomb, but I liked some really early hiphop too. I had older sisters that were big into British electronic bands (Duran Duran, Tears For Fears, etc.), and that rubbed off on me. A little later it was all metal! In the military a bunch of guys I worked with listened to country, and I grew to appreciate some of those songs as well. Yes, your tastes definitely change over the years, but loving music for half a century means you can still headbang to Angel of Death by Slayer, jump up and down to Around the World by ATC, or tear up at Not Enough Rain by Carrie Underwood. PEACE.
It's really cool to see a list from a metal CZcamsr that actually has some variety to it, even if most of the surprises were only in the Top 100. Chelsea Wolfe, Bjork, Gnaw Their Tongues, Cattle Decapitation, and Eivor were my favorite artists. Art Pop also worked its way into my top genres. The typical metalhead way of thinking (where you need to listen to it all the time to be a real fan) is super tired to me.
Plus, I just need a break sometimes. Between listening to it and making it, I'm almost constantly bludgeoning my ears with extreme metal, and I need other music to keep that as enjoyable, haha.
Orbit Culture was my top artist this year! Thanks for sharing Tank and stay safe 😎
Hahaha, Tank has been on his Rawstyle arc for about as long as I have been on my Symphonic Deathcore arc (Lorna, SOI mostly) coming from being a decade long fan of all things Hard Dance, and thats just around the time as I started watching the channel. Happy little accident.
Spotify is awesome for suggesting new bands but this is the first time I heard about a local band, Frontières, thanks for the shoutout!
Cool wrapped. It's nice when there is variety in a person's music listening. I don't have Spotify so I don't have exact numbers on my most played but here is my best guess based on my Ipod, CZcams, and Bandcamp listening for most played artists.
1. The Wonder Years (pop punk/emo/alternative rock)
2. Four Year Strong (easycore)
3. Architects (metalcore)
4. Wednesday (countrygaze/indie rock)
5. Spiritbox (post-metalcore/alternative metal/progressive metal)
This has been the best year for metal in a long time. The amount of diversity with the music has been amazing, and has brought alot of different people to metal. It's just great to see all kinds of people getting into metal and actually understanding how good it is.
Thank you so much for having the list be public! I don't have Spotify, so I'll be using CZcams music to recreate your playlist for myself. I cant wait to hit shuffle and have fun!
Funny enough, my wrapped had WAY less listened minutes, but this last half have rediscovered my love for metal thanks alot to the new releases by Spiritbox. They're really doing something super cool and I look forward to the new stuff next year!
Thanks for the upload and being the metal older brother we all didn’t know we needed
This was fun and thanks for the playlist! :)
My top five songs were all from Future Palace, which I discovered through your channel. Top band was Ad Infinitum, .05 too, (same as last year), followed by Future Palace. So thank you very much.
I think I never felt a video more than this 🤩
I was always into metal, when I found my way into Hardstyle two years ago. Now, Spotify says my top genres are Classic Hardstyle and alternative metal 😂
Happy to hear that you're also on this transition and like the combo! 😮
Oh man, I’m gonna have to listen to your wrapped to find new music!
This was the best year for metal in a long time
Agreed.
@@TankTheTech and Hardstyle; where did that come from in your list, Tank? Blame it on EC perhaps?
3:10 Any Powerwolf attention always makes me happy.
really enjoying youre videos man!
Wrap: over 44k minutes.
Sabaton
Fearless Dan Vasc
D'artagnan
Forestella
War of Ages (Fearless)
Plus 4 of their other ones (Til My Death, Tale With No End, prolog, Royal Guard of the Realm) Prayer of the King is actually tops in my book (uses Rossinni's William Tell Overture exceptionally well).
Kiel Germany
5%
Sabaton favorite band, who, btw, is releasing new album in 24!
I’ve been meaning to check out hard style. Thanks for the heads up about Warface.
Mine was EC and I was really surprised that they also recorded a message 🤩😍
I voted you for the best metal youtuber in Nik Nocturnal awards. Love ya Tank
The genres are so close to my own spotify wrapped up. Metal, (mostly metalcore), Hardstyle, but in my case also Drum and Bass. To me these three genres are the kings of all genres that bring explosions of energy into my life.
My wrapped this year was pretty cool, had some OST game music, some EC, Opeth and Devin Townsend, WBTBWB ... good mix. mostly from getting introduced to new music by checking out channels like yours.
Last year was an atrocity, like
1. Devin Townsend
2. Strapping Young Lad (also Devin)
3. Casualties of Cool (guess who)
4. Devin Townsend Project
5. I can't remember, maybe Pantera or something
That almost got into stalker territory, lol
their live performances are mind-blowing. They bring so much energy on stage 😍 Recently I've been addicted to October Ends ' new song. Reacting to it would be awesome 🤘
Dude I'm exactly the same. Been into metal since like 2009 but most of my wrapped this year was jungle and DnB haha
8:40 havent heard of most of these. I am intrigued by that blackened symphonic death metal band. The snippet you played peaked my interest.
D-sturb is coming to Brooklyn in January. My friend is throwing the party. Also please go back in time and listen to pre 2020 Hardstyle/Rawstyle. This new stuff is so hot and cold. The golden era was truly amazing.
Got a whole new groups of artist to listen to :)
Gotta check out Face Yourself. They’ve released several EP’s over the last 9 mos and they’ve already caught the attention of a lot of reactors. Their debut show will be next month in NJ with Signs of the Swarm.
Apple Music are actually doing Apple replay and it updates weekly, so you know your stats throughout the year. I prefer it
I just recently got into bands like slaughter to prevail and Lorna shore and i gotta say I totally understand how Viking was your #1 played. Mine was dethrone by Bad Omens 😂
Love your channel. Have you heard the new Architects song? They're heavy again.
My list was:
1 Sleep Token
2 Conquer Divide
3 Electric Callboy
4 Dayseeker
5 Caskets
I guess they stopped counting in the beggining of november because all I liestned to in november was Wind Walkers, and they didn't even appear.
I got "Hypnotist" as my style because I listen to albums all the way, so there is not much variation in the top song playlist (it is basically just a few albums mixed together). Fleetwood Mac was my top artist :)
I don't use spotify, but the amount of awesome metal bands from japan I've found on youtube has been insane, and a lot of them sing in english which is awesome because my Japanese is horrible even though that's where my mom is from.
Wanna see a mix of genres AND a possible candidate for next year's wrap? Just saw announcement of a new band, Crownshift: - Finnish with members of Children of Bodom, Wintersun/Nightwish, Finntrol, and MyGrain, "rooted in... Finnish melodic death metal... Devin Townsend, both... Strapping Young Lad era, as well as the epic prog side, and combine it with... metalcore and bands such as Killswitch Engage." How's that for kitchen sink! Kinda like Soilwork's career, but all at once?
Orbit has a new EP released!!!
Funny - I went the other way, coming into 2023 I was mostly listening to EDM (very little metal in the last 10 years) and since Feb. all I have done is get back into more and more metal. There is so much diversity in the genre and I feel 2023 was an exceptional year for metal.
I think the most listened to artist also takes time into consideration. If you listened to band for the first time 6 months ago, it will more easily be at your top 5. At least that is how it worked when wrapped first started.
I have Soilwork as number 1 each year anyways, so not that it matters that much outside of the top 100 songs playlist.
Happy to see Eluveitie up there! Still think it's such an underrated band :D
I'm one who listens to a little of everything except for today's rap/hip-hop. I was raised in a house where my dad was strictly a country music listener (til he heard my Stray Cats album) and my mom listened to a lot of oldies from the 50s & 60s. I have to thank my older neighbor in the duplex we lived in for introducing me to heavier rock with Mötley's Shout At The Devil. Between all that and radio & what I heard at the skating rink.... my musical tastes & loves are all over the map! 🤘🏼💙
For how heavy both my top fives were, my top genre ended up being hip hop. Always fun to see the data on our actual listening habits
Greetings from Finland 🇫🇮
Finally, someone in the same line 🥺.
METAL (Death & Metalcore) X RAWSTYLE (Hardstyle & Hardcore) ♡
That is the vibe broooo!.
I used Spotify for a little while a few years ago. The ads wouldn't stop, and the emails were annoying. Apple Music has been great. Have no idea what a "wrap" is, and I'm not mad about that.
The Apple version is the year rewind and the design is clunkier than the Spotify’s, but it lists your top twenty artists, songs, and albums instead of five (of each). The biggest drawback I think is the design, the layout of everything is a little more clunkier.
I quit using Spotify for the same reason you did; too many ads. It just gave me a sour taste, haven’t been able to use it since.
I use CZcams Music, as i listen to a lot of Japanese Metal and you don't really find much of it on Spotify.
So if there would be a mashup on CZcams Music for me it would be probably this in the top 5:
1. Electric Callboy
2. the GazettE
3. Tenacious D
4. To The Rats And Wolves
5. Mixed playlist with "sing along" tracks like Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran, Lewis Capaldi, Mumford And Sons, James Bay, Lucas Graham, Tom Odell, Queen, Led Zeppelin and many more of various timelines and genres (i just love music of almost all kinds [don't need any gangsta rap or bitch hip hop though], even though i am metal head)
Lol, my #1 artist this year was Gareth Coker. That happens when you listen to a game OST on repeat while studying.
(Ori and the blind forest, in case you wanted to know. Amazing game, great OST.)
My 2023 replay this year showed me that my most played song was “Pour Some Sugar on Me” by Def Leopard and I was not expecting it. (It’s the only Def Leopard/hair metal song I listen to. The only song.)
72 times. 420 minutes. It was not intentional.
Finally i found a metal/hardstyle fan lesgo
Next year Tank's top 5 will be filled with Hardstyle / core artists i imagine. Dutchie power!
Eluveitie? Nice! I'm wearing an Eluveitie shirt now. They are one of my favorite bands.
My favorite genres according to Spotify was Stoner Metal, Rock, Metal, Psychedelic Doom and Power Metal... However the song i played the most was Crack-crack-crackle by CLASS:y... Because anime
That office meme will always be loved!❤ Orbit Culture was like 0.005% of all listeners ever...don't know how acurate that is but there's that.
The concept behind Spotify wrapped was made by an intern and she never got compensated for it. Not to ruin anyone's fun, but just thought people should be aware!
Doesn’t surprise me considering how Spotify operates.
Exactly. I’m consistently mystified that people still support this company.
After last year's, mine didn't surprise me at all lmao. 87k minutes listened. Unleash the Archers was my top band and I was in the top 0.05%. And my top song was Make Believe by Memphis May Fire.
you had one of the best year ends i’ve seen so far but maybe that’s because we mostly listen to the same stuff lol😅
I think I've been judging Eluveitie totally incorrectly. Ok, will go check out.
since you have been trying out making electronic music and such, holy shit imagine like a orbit culture frenchcore remix
Wow, you listen a lot of Finnish bands! I hope you haven't translated Turmion Kätilöt's lyrics 😆 Greetings from Finland!
My Apple Music recap revealed Saltatio Mortis was not only my most listened artist of the year. I was also in the top 100 listeners this year for the band. Hope they come to the US for shows
Hardstyle looks like the old gabber music from the ‘90 which originated from the Netherlands. It became really big back then but also had some real issues with drug abuse. In the scene a lot of xtc/cocaine was available and used. This made it slowly disappear in the underground until beginning of the ‘10 i think. I hope for the scene that it has learned its lesson and has become drugs free.
Metal will never die. I like your choices ❤
i listened to 67 genres. top genre was low-fi beats (whatever that is) and my top artist was taylor swift. but i'm not a big spotify user: 5,000 mins.
Fun metal things 4Ever
My top artist was Finntroll with the top five songs all from Dark Side of the Moon. Think I like to sing along lol
Käärijä - Cha Cha Cha. haha! That song is number one of every parent in Finland with young kids :D
Nice! Weird how some of the "hardstyle" to me doesnt sound like hardstyle but sounds alot more like the oldschool gabber/hardcore. I kinda expect you will enjoy Chosen Few - the name of my DJ. Or songs from that era (thunderdome 9 to 13) from 3 Steps Ahead.
My top 5 was:
Rammstein, Paramore, SuicideBoys, ADTR, and TV Girl. Was kinda happy about the mixes. Metal will never die.
Considering OC just released a brand new EP... they are kicking the doors down
My number song was Meine Buffalos. And my top artist was Electric Callboy.
Metal and EDM are goated
Wait your top 1 artist is Warface no way omg!!! I love that xD
I am excited because I am in the top 97 listeners of my favorite band
Death metal this year has been absolutely outrageous. Especially the New Wave Of British Death Metal.
Eluveitie nice 😎
I started my metal journey in 1994. Metal was “dead” then. Dude it’s thriving now. Of all the bands I’ve discovered in the past few years, Orbit Culture is far and away the best.
I don’t listen to Spotify, I just have a shit load of music on my phone 😆
@TankTheTech you might like Angerfist (Dutch hardcore)
I think have to much anxiety to listen to hardstyle. But somehow extreme metal calms me down.
A lot of Finnish heavy music! 💪
Orbit Culture - While we serve !!!!!!!!!! Listen !!!!!!
❤️🔥💥💥🤘🤘
Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol was my top artist out of the 1,805 I listened to🤘
my top genres was 1. Metalcore 2. Clssical 3. Rock 4. Classical Performance 5. Euphoric Hardstyle. soo yeah i dont know what happened xD
There is a very big Hardstyle event (Qlimax) in the city I live in. You’re always welcome to join 😂
I love all of the Plankton AI songs.
I had Sabaton as my top artist for 3rd year in a row🤘
Raver by Showtek is my favorite HS song. :)
My top five
1. Electric Callboy
2. Ramones
3. Bring Me The Horizon
4. Comeback Kid
5. Slipknot
I think Tank really likes Electric Callboy. Call it a gut feeling.
Whats your opinion on "Sound of the bell" by OC?
Are you going to do a video on Paramore's pyro incident?
Apple Music's Replay feature is good enough for me, I want stats, not marketing! Unfortunately, the stats said all my friends listen to pop and R&B, and I'm the only one who likes loud guitar music. (Blues rock, arena rock, surf rock, rockabilly, punk, they're all in there.) I almost feel like I need new friends, it's weirdly isolating when no one you know listens to your type of music.
Had In Flames nro 1 and Orbit Culture nro 2, OC would've been nro 1 if their EP Forgotten had been out earlier, its on non-stop playing for me now.
Periphery, asinhell, sleep token, sylosis
Nice Tank, I am surprised that you don't listen to mainstream stuff.... interesting
My Top 5 songs do not match up with my Top 5 artists. My top artists are
-Feuerschwanz
-Sabaton
-NanowaR of Steel
-Orbit Culture
-Scooter
But my Top 5 songs consist of 4 songs from The Dark Side Of The Moon (May It Be, Legends Never Die, The Wolven Storm, and Jenny Of Oldstones) and Disco Metal.
