Security has no right to assault you. They can escort you out. They can carry you if you resist but they cant choke you, punch you, grab your hair or do ANY of the things that were described here. This is assault with intent to cause greivous bodily harm. If youre attacked like that by security merely for violating some spurious rule you need to file charges. Get a lawyer, have your lawyer freeze their records so deleting footage becomes a crime and sue them. Some security teams hire sadists who use venue rules as an excuse to beat and injure patrons for fun. This is criminal. It doesnt matter that the music is heavy or that you were moshing. Moshing does not give security cart blanche to begin beating patrons. Nowhere on your ticket does it say you are agreeing to be injured and assaulted by venue staff. Record it. Get it to the cops. Press charges. That is the only way that this crap stops and venues like this are held accountable. They could have killed someone. By the accounts being displayed it sure looks like they were trying. Just my opinion but if you see something like this going down amd you do nothing then you are part of the problem. Dont be part of the problem. Be part of the solution.

I'm the dude security kicked out...I did not receive multiple warnings from anyone at the venue for anything. I was hanging somewhat front stage with my fiancé and 2 friends jumping around getting into bodysnatcher. A couple of others pushed me around as expected, but there wasn't even a mosh. Seemed everyone was intimidated by the 3 floating bouncers standing in the crowd...I was blinded by a flashlight and was grabbed by my hood while another arm was pushed into my throat. I was back peddaled into and through the side door and was slammed into the ground multiple times. I was not aggressive towards security throughout any of this. I was trying to breath while this particular security card had his forearm pushed into my throat not allowing me to get up off the ground. It was until some of the road crew came outside that this angry security guard finally got off of me. I have been in contact with the manager at fete who was very stand off-ish in the beginning of our conversations. He told me that the venue will not be hiring that particular security company again and that he wants to make this right with me for whatever that's worth. I'm a 36 year old professional at this stage in my life. I've been to hundreds of metal shows over the past 20 plus years and I have never been kicked out of a show nor have I ever been treated like that at a show. I'm embarrassed over what transpired even though I know none of this is my fault. All I can say is that I love Providence, but I will never attend another show there. Metal bands stick to the Worcester Palladium.

I hope it keeps up into a full blown lawsuit by the people and the band on one side security on the other to the point after this the security team is in jail/ban from working there in a court order and they have a gig lined up without any security at all, with a Country Bar Band type solution similar to the Chicken wire with wood/plywood only more beefy like a hand made to the size of the stage to ceiling chain link fence with metal side bars for the front as the only protection as nobody wants to be a security guard for the venue, even the companies for hire.

So i was there, at that show that night.
For one: bodysnatcher didn't just walk off the stage. They first announced something to the effect of: "hey, if you guys aren't going to let people have fun, we're not gonna keep playing" then they played another whole song. And it was only AFTER that, when security dragged the one guy out the back doors, that Bodysnatcher said they were done and walked off stage.
And also, the decision to cancel the rest of the show wasn't immediate at all. It was a solid half hour to 45 minutes ish of us just standing around and waiting to see if the others bands were gonna go on. And only after all that waiting for they announce the show was canceled due to "technical difficulties"

I went to a show that had a punk/emo lineup at around 2k capacity. It had been a long time since I had been to a mid/smaller venue. It was about as large as those bands could probably play in an extremely popular area for them. It is a pretty stark contrast to more mainstream artists as to how little of the crowd recorded on their phones. Most of the people there seemed to be actual huge fans of the bands and not to brag about it on social media. I think resellers for the most part don't pay much attention to that market so everyone who bought a ticket was someone who truly wanted to be there. It is kind of refreshing to be at a show like that. I am not surprised at all we don't have a lot of video footage but I wouldn't doubt there is more that just has not been publicly posted. Events like this are a reason for bands to have a recording of all of their shows in some form. I wouldn't not doubt some of the video footage wouldn't be released by people associated with the band due to inevitable litigation.

Went to go see a stacked lineup last night and it was an amazing show, aside from security. Metal and hardcore fans steer clear, security here is only looking for fights. Throwing out people left and right for moshing and don’t even try to justify it saying “we try to keep people from getting hurt”. It’s a hardcore show we expect to get hurt. If I get bumped into security don’t throw me to the ground. Security has another thing coming if they’re trying to pick fights and settle it “off the clock”. To me it seems very odd that there is no footage of any of the claims I've read about.
It's true that in the sense nobody was filming just waiting for something bad to happen.
But every show I've been to in recent years has half the crowd holding up their phones.
So while you're point is valid. It still seems odd and unlikely there is no real footage to coaborate the claims I've read. Especially since most phones now you just push 2 buttons and you're recording.
I'm sure there is enough truth to the claims that the security team did act inappropriately. But based on the wide range of claims I've read (probably happened - to - sounds like a stretch of a story). It'll be hard to ever really find out what happened or how far things went because the claims that flirt into the "unlikely/embellished" territory start to devalue the situation.

Stories of people being dragged out of bathrooms and verbally and physically assaulted, even outside the venue - isn't a snapshot occurrence.

Shout out to my buddies ex GF for the drinks. I haven't been there post pandemic so I'm sure somethings have changed. However I've known some of these people for 20 plus years. I've known security at that venue for 11 or 12 years. There used to be a techno club .:Therapy next door that closed right around the same time Fete opened. So that's were they got most of their security from. These guys were no joke. They sold drugs, robbed people, beat and kidnapped people at the techno club. There was the incidents of girls getting r@ped on G. Their is no way security wasn't turning a blind eye or involved in those r@pes. Now Fete is NOT an open air drug market like .:Therapy was. However these are the SAME guys. I've seen them do all kinds of violent and fucked up things over the years. Hence me changing screen names... The worst thing I've had was a guy in the front being slammed on his head for being a dickhead.
With that out of the way. I think this whole situation is one big clusterfuck. The fact that there is accounting evidence not just from this show but from people who have played at this venue speaks volumes of how much they are talking out of their ass.
I already didn't believe the venue statement the way it was worded but the contradictions, The disabled comments and the overall handling of the situation is both gaslighting and throwing a bunch of people under the bus.
There is no reason you as a security guard should be so childish and unprofessional to go up and say "If any of you got a problem you can come up here and suck my dick." I mean granted I have seen bands do this and what not but this is the first I'm hearing of a member of security doing this.
This was a shitty situation for the bands and for the fans. This venue deserves all the loss in revenue and bad rep for the way this was handled.

A couple weeks ago at Motionless in White in San Jose CA during After the burial's set. They encouraged fans to crowd surf and security was letting people fall on there backs. The singer was visibly upset and during the song yelling for them to catch people. After the song was over he apologized to the crowd and called the security a bunch of cowards. Thankfully after the set they added more security up front and a crew guy showing them how to catch people and where to be and what to look for.

That reminds me of a story I heard from a time at warped tour (probably WAY early). During a set from Pennywise, kids were crowd surfing and security were just standing there with there arms crossed and not catching the kids. Fletcher (the guitarist, in case you don't know) called them out and, I'm not kidding, THE SECURITY JUST WALKED AWAY! It should not be security's responsibility to "catch" crowd surfers. Moshing, stagediving, crowd surfing should not be things that security administrates. • @medea27
    @medea27 Před 6 měsíci +2

Very telling that the venue did not touch on the core issue - _security's behaviour._ The trigger for this whole situation (as confirmed by Fete themselves) was crew members witnessing a fan being forcibly ejected from the venue _and feeling the need to intervene._ We have multiple reports from independent witnesses of security grabbing people by the throat and throwing them onto the ground. That's not crowd control... that's _assault._
Excuses like "we warned the patron 5 times" just undermines any argument that their security understands basic crowd control. Five warnings doesn't gel with that degree of escalation in violence towards a patron... if you're prepared to give someone _five chances_ to stop doing something, you are sending them the message that it's not that big of a concern.
I've been in several mosh pits where security gave a person multiple warnings, and when he didn't take the hint the crowd got sick of the guy and threw him over the barrier for security to eject. No aggro, no escalation.
Shining your torch directly into people's eyes is another example of this ineptitude... not only are you temporarily blinding that person to what's happening around them (so they can't avoid obstacles, crowdsurfers, see emergency exits, etc), but in a loud venue where they can't hear security they now _can't see_ what security are trying to tell them either.
What this _does_ sound like is a bunch of security who don't respect patrons, can't communicate effectively with anyone, and rapidly escalate to aggression when someone isn't doing what they want.
And if this venue has a history with this kind of treatment of patrons, I hope bands stop booking there because it's only a matter of time before a fan ends up in hospital. If in-house security think this is excusable in any way they shouldn't be booking anything more intense than a Wiggles concert.
    Love the outfit btw. 🤘😉

The real situation here is probably incredibly simple, the quality of people becoming security guards in some situations like this has just gone very low. Meaning, the actual quality of the person isn’t up to the task to be a professional security guard. Doesn’t mean that all new security guards are bad, some will be great, but the percentage of Dickheadz and assholes with severe psychological issues are actually getting jobs like this, and the critical thing, like a police officers, this job requires intelligence and the ability to psychologically calm situations. The problem comes into when those type of people are not showing up to get these jobs and these assholes with extreme mental issues are now holding these jobs. And the real bigger picture is nobody is going to take accountability for something that’s actually wrong, nobody is going to apologize or do anything to fix the situation. and they might not be any fix, if the quality of people showing up to become police officer quality drops dramatically, it’s not like there’s anything that can really be done, they have to hire somebody, I believe this might be the case with security guards in these situations.

@@LionheartSJZ lmao bodycams don't do anything to restrain pigs. For security, they *might* actually help because unlike pigs, security is at least in principle not entirely above the law... although "being wannabe pigs" is half the problem with a lot of security these days

Incredibles costume?! You’re incredible every day even without the make and cape! 🤩👍🏻To be fair, we don’t take you seriously on a normal day, lol. We love you - way to be a proud dad! I had a dad who would do stuff like that, but he sadly got ill at age 37 and passed away at age 41 in 1991 from colorectal cancer. I was 9 going on 10. I cherish the moments my dad made a fool of himself in public just to make me laugh. If anyone has a problem with you wearing a costume, they inform didn’t have an awesome dad and/or are not a great parent in all likelihood. Parent who love their kids make life memorable- and when your kid grows up, she will see that you loved her enough to even do your job as an Incredibles character.
Btw, I’m glad you located footage. Would be interesting to see if there are other vantage points from a balcony where we can see the major players and where they all are at the same times. I agree with your overall assessment for sure. I really think that security at venues should be wearing body cams kind of like the cops - even wearing a GoPro that records their movements and interactions all nights would bring a a bit more transparency when issues arise . . . and when something really great that goes above and beyond happens too. As a tour manager, perhaps that’s something you can think having security wear cameras, and perhaps even having some cameras set up (if they don’t have working security cams) where you’re sent all footage for the duration of the event in case of any issues. I’d argue it should be put into the venue/security contract going forward. That sort of footage (with a decent mic from a headset) could go a long way to figuring out fact from fiction and learning how all parties involved can improve going forward when there’s any incidents.
Thanks for always being fair, Tank!

I mean…pretty much a 100% chance that the venue has, at the very least, a wide angle security video of what went down in the crowd, right? If the venue was telling the truth wouldn’t it be easy to show a quick montage of the 5 times this guy was warned and then how he was removed?
I can totally see them not wanting to just show a full video if their security acted really unprofessionally after this all kicked off, tried to fight people, etc. But they could super easily support their claim that they warned one person 5 times and removed him, right? EVEN IF they wanted to be manipulative and conceal the rest of what happened, they didn’t even back up THAT narrative.
    They’re obviously lying.

      But at the same time,
There's also probably like a 100% chance that people had their cellphones out.
Every show I've been to in the last 5+ years has had probably almost half the audience holding phones recording the show.
I think there's enough basis to the claims that the security acted in an unprofessional or even criminal way.
But to also have absolutely zero footage of these claims, seems pretty odd/unlikely as well.

Venue is doing damage control. This could cause problems. I recall security at a large venue in Northern Ireland in the 1990's was abusing and assaulting fans at metal shows. The show I was at, they were doing it again, and the front row had a bunch of burly guys who'd heard about it, and when they saw it, out came metal pipes and bike chains. There were no similar issues I saw at subsequent concerts at the venue.
