Seriously, this review is amazing.
I don't know why but the cockpit view in this game looks phenomenal. Really captures the feeling of actually being inside the car spatially.
It's not rigid like a mounted camera. It moves around like someone with the weight of their head and helmet being moved by the lateral forces from turning and braking
I was about to get Project Cars 3 but everyone says it's worse so I'm going to get Project Cars 2 instead
PJ2 is on sale usually too
Luke is the one of few reviewers who actually give proper scores and goes deep into the game where others take one look and 7/10

Obviously was using a £1000+ PC with a £200 wheel + pedals, because on a PS4 gamepad it is broken without all the driving assists on (apart from brake assist)! 6.9/10.
Pro tip: Controller Damping - 75; Steering Sensitivity - 0; Speed Sensitivity - 100...but it is still broken for many events.

Awesome review Luke! In the rearview mirror you can see the background assets start to disappear fairly quickly. I'm assuming the was on the XBone but is this also on the PC version? That alone kills my immersion, but everything else seems really good.

To people saying this game feels terrible to play : get a wheel. This game is made for wheel setups. Logi T g920s and thrustmasters work good if you want a solid and easy to find wheel.
To people complaining about graphics: it is a sim and the graphics are not the main point of this game, unlike forza ms. This game is about realisim in its cars and racing, not the bushes beside the track. But a graphics update would be nice : ))
I find the controls realistic with a controller. People that complain about it should git gud

Watching this review after Project Cars 3 just makes me sad. This series had everything going for it and it was just thrown all away. Fans tossed aside just because SMS wanted the most money they could get.

When did they leave? There have been loads of awesome PC sims over the past few years.
Which one is the best? I havent played a racing game since pod racer.
Or I played Mario Kart as a kid at friends house. That was fun. Anything like that these days for PC or Xbox or PS4?
PunchFor Pound trackmania is the closest franchise to mario kart in my opinion

My opinion, sounds great, looks ok & that's being generous. Handling, feels like I'm driving on ice even with warm tyres on a summers day so don't think it has anything on GT or Forza. The worst part of this game is the feeling it is unfinished or low of quality compared to the big players. I've had glitch after glitch, freeze after freeze to the point were I have become so fed up and feel completely ripped off. IGN say this is a 9.2 rated game! A can't take that seriously & I'm completely baffled by it. For me it's a frustrating mess & I'm thankful for the other game franchises that get it right. Like or dislike my comments but this is only what I have experienced people, I'd rather enjoy the game I've spent £45 on!

I notice the cockpit view is super wide by default - way too wide. Can FOV be changed across all platforms - PS4, PC, XBox? Also can you alter seating position on all platforms?

We all know about the features of the game, which this review is the only thing you covered well. I'd like to know your SIM racing experience before I take you seriously. You're quite good at what you do, but I want to know if the physics and FFB are better than PC1.
pcars1 physics and FFB were terrible so of course pcars2 is better. But the question is, is it better than AC. When I first drove the Nordschleife on AC I realized I had to kiss Gran Turismo Good Bye and move on with the times. I'm not even sure GT Sport has laser scanned tracks

So far its received positive reviews.
Correction the sound effects are just loud, devs today just record the audio directly from the wheels, etc. Sound should be unique per each camera angle/perspective. Immersion is immediately broken when your eardrums starts bleeding.
Anybody got a link for the timelapse replay trackside he mentions in the video? I can't seem to find it yet....

Playing this on VR atm. Legit best racing experience to date. You can make a case for some other games having improved graphics but not by a large margin.

Great review. If anyone knows the High Octane videos narrated by Ketzel Sterling, Luke's delivery and humor is similar to his at times and makes for a very interesting listen!

Is there going to be a demo. I bought the first game and didn't play it because the handling on a pad was u playable. I would like to try before I buy as I buy digital games and I can't sell or return them.

Need for Speed games are meant for game pads... These games are meant for Wheels. No one likes you game pad users in our online races.

How does the Audio hold up compared to R3E, because R3E (Raceroom Racing Experience ;) ) is the reference when it comes to sound.
I’m a fan of all racing games but recently Forza is my favorite again. I love how PC2 has snow I love the crashes and LOVE how you can give your feedback to the tuner, other games need that!!! I know how to tune but yeah for new players...

Didn't say much about the rally racing and the feel. Hoped someone would say something about whether or now the crew chief would notify on changing weather conditions and when is the best time to put or if it's a passing storm like in PC1

Not really, none of the 3 games are out to begin with.
They all seem to offer something different anyway. If PC2 has very good FFB, physics and online, GT Sport could be in some trouble though.

This and Forza is the perfect combo. GT Sport isn't really bringing anything to make me want a PS4 and with both PCars and Forza on PC, I'm set
