Excellent review again! This is a game I've been waiting for and looking forward to so I appreciate hearing a review from someone I've quickly grown to respect. You always cover the most important aspects of the games and always call it how to see it.. Much respect for that. Lots of content here and some great gameplay. But it needs a patch and a bit of finesse for me. And its Steam reviews are horrid.
The screen tearing and other issues Digital Foundry pointed out do indeed happen from time to time. I tested with cars on a track with every number of opponents available and anything above 24 starts to incur some performance and image issues
+ACG Cheers for bringing up how well the gamepad worked, it was a big point for me. Those shadows were horrendous and with the other issues I'll definitely wait. I still have Forza coming in under two weeks so that'll do me for racing.
ACG so..as the first game we still need to tune the helll out of cars and steering settings to enjoy the game in the Xbox?No thanks
The PS4 Pro renders at 2560x1440p that is upscaled to 4K. Better meshes, better details, higher shadows, high def textures.

There is absolutely NO REASON to demonetise this video. It makes me sick that the countless hours that get spent on a video like this is comparable to someone streaming a match of PUBG. They are not equal in the slightest.
Sounds wicked, small issues aside, defo getting this day one, loved the first.
Tell me, can you still remove the drivers hands and wheel from the cockpit on the xbox version? I find it so offputting when using my rig, pcars one wad epic for allowing this, sewt movement and fov all on console version

PC: 1060, i5 4th gen, 16gb of ram High settings with some stuff on medium (Shadows and such) runs stable 60

It looks a little rough, no doubt. Though I really like the dynamic weather system. Love the increase in cars and track layouts, as well. But ultimately, I'll take your advice and wait for a sale. Forza 7 is upon us, as is the next GT.

Great review as always. Glad you mentioned the loading times... that was my main issue with PC1 and that is why I won't be getting PC2. I think PC1 was fun but the loading times were so bad i just stopped playing it. Keep up the great work!

Do you know how the game works without the day one patch? As I don't have my Ps4 connected at all, patches are irrelevant to me.
When you reviewed the sound, but played no sounds other than your commentary, I was bugged.

The pendulum effect too whenever you take a corner, thats what rlly got me, and it was impossible to counter steer once you over steered
A solid review, still on the fence on this series as the first one didn't have much in the way of American cars I like at launch. No Mopar either sadly.

For some reason in game chat comes through my tv/headset extremely loud and i can figure out how to turn it down PS4....PLEASE HELP!!!

What’s the best driving game to play on PS4 Pro at the moment. I was looking forward to Gran Turismo Sport but with no single player career mode I won’t be buying it.

I have a feeling the PC release is going to be drastically better. I've been watching tons of Beta PC gameplay and none of it looks like this.
Maybe issues cropped up in the last moments but chances are PC is just the definitive version, though Xbox X may come in a close 2nd place if they give it a nice patch for the X.
Glad to see they improved the Audio compared to the first one but unfortunate that the shadows are still the same garbage, also in the first game during sunsets it was very hard to see anything when you are in cockpit view, like unnaturally hard to see compared to real life when driving during sunsets, I hope this was fixed?

If i really cant get on with simulation handling will i hate this?? i just tried forza 7 and i couldnt find a handling setting on that which i found fun. Does this cater for casual players too or not at all.

If the weird robot steering and graphics and performance is good on the PC, would you recommend it? I really want this game
i know a glitch with it so if you crash your car and lose your wheel if you go in replay mode or restart session that wheel that came off is still off but the game pretends its still there (has to be open wheel)
Anybody else notice how in the right hand drive cars, the character model still moves his right hand to shift? I don't know how or why I noticed, but now its kinda annoying.
10:15 the part i was waiting for: does it control ok on controller. Last year was absolute garbage unless you used a wheel.

Great review as usual! Although I'm not sure how you can say the genre is highly contested? There's pretty much this or Asseto Corsa (Or Forza if you're OK with more of an arcade experience). I can see the devs weren't quite able to hit that mainstream appeal they were going for, and I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.
I’m assuming Forza 7 will be the best driving/racing game this year, but could PC2 be the best option for PS4!? I have really low expectations for GT Sport despite GT being on of the reasons I’ve stuck with PS over the years. Curious to hear what you think?
This + Forza 7 = Perfect Racing Games for this year, GT Sport doesn't have enough to make me want it, and NFS looks like a re-skinned 2015

ACG and/or commenters, what is in your opinion the best racing game currently out for PS4? I never played one but Im recently getting interested.
Very detailed review, I have watched other reviews too and they are similar in terms of some issues of the game and strengths. For loading time though, you can always buy it from the store and have it on your console hard disk. or better yet of you have installed an SSD no you system it'll help vastly on the load time people. I certainly have put this game on my wishlist, and am gonna wait for it to go on sale. I'm gonna play Project Cars (first edition) for now. :
