The first game i played with my first wheel
Well Said
This game was my genuine intro to "Sim Racing" beyond titles like Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport, and my first dive into racing with a wheel and pedals. I've always felt like it was unfairly criticized. It's got so much to offer, and most of it is at least decent, if not great. But people are people so they're always gonna focus on the handful of bits that aren't great.
absolutely the same. it was my first sim to and I love it
I agree I just made a video that pretty much says just that. such a great game sad to see it go
Same here. Very easy to pick up and play, made me buy a T150 with pedals, the rest is history... upgraded to Fanatec CSL DD and pedals, moved on to AMS2, AC and ACC. Don't play PC2 any more, mostly AMS2 but PC2 will always be the one that started it all.
I love the game, my only gripe was physics, the way you turned into a corner and the vortex kerbs especially if the car had traction control(yeah tc slows down on kerbs in irl but look at acc for a realistic example). That was the only issue but annoyingly it is a big issue
Same, met a lot of great people on pcars2
The main menu music has to be some of the best I've heard in any game
@AS I think it was the same guy?
Rightttt
No one out classes Daiki Kasho from Gran Turismo... And that is a fact!!!
Assetto Corsa's soundtrack is better imo
@@tosehoed123 What soundtrack? Content Manager doesn't have any music
I really really wish Project Cars 3 never came to fruition but instead Project Cars 2 was kept being worked on. It had SO MUCH POTENTIAL. It's such a damn shame honestly.
PC3 was super fun to work on and I still contend it's a great simcade experience. I just wish we could tell people the real story behind it.
@@gargaj I think you should tell it here.
@@gargaj tell it here, we want to know
That would be unwise.
@@gargaj Why ? Are you under a non-disclosure agreement ?
Well done for sending some love in the Project Cars 1 & 2 direction. The realistic assist feature was superb as was the scope. I feel in the past too much focus was put on what it didn't do right rather than what it did magnificently !
I have to agree that after I got PC2 on a sale, I never understood the "hate" towards it. OFC it's not the most hardcore sim but has lots of QOL features missing everywhere else.
Hardcore sims all fake. Cars are easy and fun in real life
@JoeFiddle-ls5jh I’ve played sims that are easy and fun
The best and most diverse track list in sim racing.
I loved Project Cars 2 when it came out. I still love it. I will always love it. I’d love it if people appreciated everything it was instead of focusing on how many of Ian Bell’s overpromises it didn’t keep. It was far from perfect, and it might not be “hardcore” enough for some, but that game was GREAT.
As a console racer PC1 was the game that introduced me to simracing, since it was definitely a step up in realism compared to Gran Turismo, which I played before. Got some fond memories racing in an open wheel league on PC1 and 2, absolutely loved the Formula Gulf and was gutted it wasnt included in PC2.
Plenty of things wrong with those games, but they do hold a special place in my heart
"oh no, project cars 2 is gone"
Me downloading a pirated copy of the game
Project Cars 2 with Pops FFB mod is GOD TIER
A few months more support, and pC2 could have been one of the greatest racers out there (for me it is, nonetheless). But many little an bigger problems never got fixed and a rude start ruined it for the majority of racers, that never came back to see how good it was in the core. I hope Reiza will bring AMS2 to the perfection, that pC2 deserved.
I've always loved this game eversince I put my first step in sim-racing world. In fact, Pc1 was the first game that helped me discovered the sim-racing and everything that follows later on (and leave arcade completely). Eventhough it is still underrated, it's a pretty good all-rounder for whoever wants a fresh start in a more realistic approach (not to mention the mod community also helps in making more content, eventhough is isn't anywhere close to AC mods)
As a former dev (enviro art/tracks)of this sim this video really brighten my day :-)
You all did a really great job. Thanks for your work. It will always be one of my favorites. 💯
I still play pcars2, what I’ve learned is if you can tweak the setup right you can have a good time racing! Love your videos keep it up!
The physics are still broken no matter what you do.....
Setup knowledge is even too important imo. Some cars suck with stock setups but are very good once you tweak it, which gives the "physics suck" feeling and makes the casual experience unpleasant. But if you have time to tweak the setup, you're gonna enjoy it
@@oj7177 Sure , like everyone know how a car setup should be.... 🤦😅
@@ACFUN34 there are some setup guides that really help you tweaking a setup. And yorkie's videos about it are also very informative
Once you understand some basic things, it's pretty easy erasing a good part of quirks the car may have. But i get that it's not exactly the best experience having to make your own setups for a good chunk of cars, and that for newbies can be annoying
I found a guide that works perfectly and it's very detailed, and ironically isn't even specific for pc2. That guide saved my ass multiple times
@@oj7177 would u share that guide? I'm so bad at set ups I'm newbie sim racer tho, there are so many specs to touch that I get panic ahaha 😅 I really respect players that can set up mostly all cars in sim racing games. Is like, how do u understand all that numbers bro
I was in love with PC2... Sadly as soon as played AC I was unable to return to PC2 and physics started to feel awkward...
Same
I prefer the physic of AC but I've never hooked on it and always sticked to PC2.
The career mode made me discover many tracks and cars while in AC, it's more gloomy.
Although, the weather management is awesome in PC2.
Yes AC is more sim.......but it is sooooo boring. Ferrari Ferrari and a so poor content.
F40, rainy nights, Green Hell, VR = good times
What I'm going to miss the most about pcars is the fact that it helped bring true simracing to consoles. Before the series came the most "simulation" game you could dream of was Gran Turismo and Forza. The fact it was a full on simulator for consoles really fleshed out the genre and since its demise there just won't be another console sim title.
It was a perfect "gateway sim" into the wider world and now its gone. RIP.
Honestly. Project CARS is like no other. No moddable sim can beat it in terms of feeling true and complete, nor is it complex as shit compared to them. Especially Assetto, many think the original Assetto's like the best sim ever just because its moddable. It's not. And even then it feels unpolished and unfinished in contrast to Project CARS or rFactor
yeah, Vanilla AC is Shite.
I'm playing the career mode for the first time in my life and I agree with you. I wonder if SMS had launched it or less content and kept updating this game on the long term, like RFactor.
Nothing better than a full NASCAR field at the Knockhill Tri-oval.
I'm seriously thinking of buying PC2 instead of spending £70 on Gran Turismo 7! I miss the old days when you bought a game, and everything you needed was already instead. We now have quarterly patches and constant DLCs in modern games to keep you spending yet more money.
PC2 was my first sim. I found the pit engineer very helpful, especially with some of the cars appeared un-tuned. Still playing it years later.
I still play PC2 to this day most of the time on VR. The performance is actually pretty good with my 3600 and 3070 and is quite immersive when the sun goes down
Do you still prefer it to ams2?
@@Rmagid I don't have ams2 will get it in the future maybe at huge discount. I'm actually quite casual so some time attack and cruising in PC2 VR is enough for now. Do you play both games on VR?
@@rpgfan8650 Yes the VR quality and settings are identical, but everything else is better in every way. Its what pc3 should've been.
Excellent video!!!!
That's what I enjoy about PC2 - it's complete in it's standalone state. That's hard to say for MANY of those higher-rated games. It's not perfect, far from it, but it serves a basic need and I don't need to download mods or anything to get what I want out of it. Simplicity is an attribute that is often overlooked.
yeah for sure it was my fav easiest go to sim of the time.. VR 3d sound was mind blowing. Sound literally tops all other sims (except AMS2 now) . if i needed something to run without having to search the web for mods to download, had tons of great cars (i love vintage racing H shifters).. group C cars, group 5, dtm etc. AMS2 tops it now but still doesnt have the huge list of vintage racers that PC2 had.
i got project cars a long time ago and didn't really play it. sort of forgot about it
recently got heavily into sims and a wheel. play a lot of gt7, dirt 2.0, wrc, ac/acc
just remembered project cars, installed it, now i'm playing the shit out of it. it's so good. on 1440 it looks just as good at gt7 but with a better art style. i can't put my finger on it but in the helmet cam it just looks realistic. the scale, the haze and color saturation... it's nearly photorealistic
and my god the physics. it feels so good to play
i'm furious i can't get pc2. i really want it now. makes me want to get back into torrenting
This game gave me a sense or a feel of sim racing nostalgia I hadn't felt since I was a kid. It also heavily disappointed me in many ways...Good times.
Last sentence of this video is GOATED. Well said, PCars2 is a great game indeed.
Yes, I totally agree with everything you covered in this video. It really is a great game👌🏼
The Game that brought me to sim racing.
Thats very nice from you
The epic chilling menu soundtrack felt like an opening of a movie.
Cars are interesting physics wise some drive like a car, some love the fronting the walls, leman cars feel intense espcially the old ones.
Weather, actual day and night cycle
Variety of vehicles is perfect just right
pc3 off the bin. What where they thinkin? 🤔
why didn't they do a fire sale before shutting down ?
I always thought PCars2 was under-rated. It had terrific content for cars and tracks. Once you got a good custom FFB file loaded it felt really good too. My biggest complaint with the game was the sound. The car engine sounds were, with few exceptions, pretty poor. And, as you mentioned, setting up an online race was a breeze.
It's still installed and played on my PC
Forever young!
I've only played PCars 1. I would say it's the best multi-racing series campaign in sim racing.
Project Cars is the only sim with a decent career mode. As someone who doesn't care about online racing (and isn't good at it) that alone makes it special. I don't care if it's an "arcade feature with no place in a sim" (heard that one plenty of times), I get enjoyment from roleplaying a career against bots.
I got my drivers license this year and therefore started to be interested more in "normal" road cars and there racing unlike the last years where I mainly focused just on F1. I regret not having this interest sooner, at the time were PCars 1 and 2 peaked. It was good times but back than I just wasn't as interested as I would be now. Shame really that the franchise is dead thanks to EA..
2:40 Thank you LFM! ❤
Perfect way to sum it up. Remember when Ian posted a Twitter comment about making a return a everyone told him to fk off lol
Anyone know how to get dlc on playstation after it got taken out of the store? I have a physical copy
Instant thumbs up for the last seconds of the video lol.
Are players still in the game or is it abandoned?
Just ordered my first wheel , a G293 , to replace my gamepad and ... having spent dozens and dozens of hours on PC2 with my gamepad , it is the game that Im the most eager to try out first when the wheel arrives
The extreme variety in diciplines of racing , as well as proving that "plug and play" doesnt also have to mean "compromised" or "toned down" when it comes to a racing sim is the reason why I love it so much
Its also why Im not as excited to try out ACC , and even though I bought it , I havent played it nearly as much as PC2 ...with its singular focus on GT cars and even though it goes in far more depth than PC2 in those cars... I just wish it had that for all racing disciplines
Also I once got rFactor2 on sale but its just not playable on a controller so now I have an excuse to try it , after it has been sitting on my steam library for years with only 45 minutes of playtime ...
It's mind blowing that Pcars2 is still one of the only sim racing games that is actually a complete package. I can only hope that AC Evo and Project Motor Racing fix that.
PCars2 is so good. I’ve been doing the career and did a race at Road America in the Rennsport Revival series in the pouring rain.
I had a smile on my face the entire time.
I love this game, played it on Xbox with me G920. I then upgraded to Thrustmaster but everyone streaming on CZcams seemed to be using PCs so I went large again. Went all Fanatec CSL DD, V3 peds, McLaren GT3 V2 (I also have the Formula V2.5x) and launched myself into ACC (and the barriers of some amazing tracks). But I miss PC2 (nostaglia). Got it off Steam but, alas, despite using Compatibility Mode on the CSL DD I can't get the downshift to work. I can assign it, and it works while traversing the menu options, but not in a race. And I'm not as good as Ayrton Senna driving while stuck in the one gear.
Think I had the same problem initially but did get it working with my CSL DD.
Pc2 is an all you can eat ice cream shop of cars. Create endless combinations of flavors like indy car on lemans or mini cooper on ice track. Game can never be finished
If only the physics were as good as in ams2 then i would agree, but sadly they are very weird, especially under braking. Maybe its due to shoddy default setups, but in pc2 its extremely difficult to trail brake, the end of the car steps out as soon as you lock your wheels which shouldnt and doesnt happen in other simulators. Too bad that ams2 content is very unorthodox and most well known tracks are hidden behind dlc paywall.
Try raising the preload value. I had the same problem with some cars and it solved it
I can trail brake easily with every car, and, while with some it's a bit harder, they rarely step out during braking
@@oj7177 ah thx for the tip :)
I haven’t played all the games but think the PC2 car and track content is my favorite.
still the best Simulator for Console User.
That last sentence PMSL!!! Ha Ha Ha! So true!!!
Finally, someone who thinks from inside my garage. It is by far the most complete and best looking package, and nothing compares to the classes that they nailed = more sim/accurate than the most alleged best sims. Even race drivers agree with this. Moreover, my job (not this account) is to scrutinise vehchles - I've actually driven very fast race and track vehicles,as well as F3 based open wheelers at Olton Park.
It's a great game. I'll always love it.
Hear Hear!
If i had a steering wheel man i would love this game but unfortunately its very difficult with a controller
My only problem with this game and the potential that have is, the damn physics between the gamemodes and grip. Example: in the same exactly configurations and track and car. The car grip changes so much in private test compared to solo race against ia. In practice the car feels way different and grips than private test. Then in racing is another story, almost unplayable like driving on soap tires. AND I DONT KNOW WHY!!! I mean, is so notorious.
Play with Wheel on Xbox
0:45 what are these cars is this? Is it in any of the project cars games or is this an asseto corsa mod?
Cars 2 trucks
Which is the better Option for my desk setup? Logitech G Pro or Moza R9 with the RS V2 wheel
Well, for a desk mount, I honestly wouldn't use a wheelbase with more than 10nm. Heck, I've seen CSL DDs completely destroy the side of a desk with just 8nm (this particular example had the boost kit). Personally, I would focus on saving up for a basic rig before spending a lot of money on wheels/pedals. But, for a desk mount, I would honestly go for a Moza R5 bundle or basic CSL DD bundle. You won't be able to take advantage of load cell pedals without a hard backstop anyway.
@@flyingphoenix113 I have a Solid table... around 50kg heavy and the Thing is the g pro has an integraled tableclamp so i think it works well. I more wanted an answer from somebody who has experience with these wheels. Also the G Pro is avaiable without the pedals
Look at Asetek la Prima bundle too
@@belagajdan has no tableclamp
@@luca5406 ah ok then
Nicks video is extremely funny and right
Project Cars 1 Has the Best Sounds in the Project Cars Series
I think Project Cars 1 is the best compromise. The shadow effects are iffy but it runs very well on my computer. The UI took some getting used to but not bad to use for actually racing once you have the graphics, controls and force feedback set up well and never have to go back in. PC 2 runs at various framerates, at least on my rig and the phsics don't feel as good to me. . I CAN'T STAND the UI in Assetto Corsa and it only detects my Thrustmaster wheel when it wants to so I rarely play it. Also talk about no grip. All I do is spin out. I don't know why it gets so much praise
I Agree❤
i cant help but really like project cars 3, not as a sim racing game tho but as an arcade game its really fun :D
I just wanna get on and have fun. PC2 does that superbly well
Automobilista 2. The dream lives on
PC2 got me into sim racing and gave me 150 hrs of enjoyable racing, I'll always be grateful for that. oh and my main is AMS 2 so I kinda still play the spiritual successor of PC2 lol
Imagine to have a LFM system in this game 😱😱😱
Somehow it got the best content. Great cars, great tracks. It had it all.
But sadly the first month or at least half a year, after release, it had many annoying flaws. For example the bug were entry Formula cars had almost no grip at the rear, because the tyres didn´t heat up properly. I first thought it was my fault and my setup was bad, so i worked and worked on it.. Until i read in the forum about it. But when it got fixed, i was doing something different and went on.
Great video and I agree on many points but please just explain what GOATED means lol is this an abbreviation?
It's a finished product. A thing that's alien for simracers. We have to launch Assetto Corsa through a fan launcher. The F1 games we play have huge online issues and crashes, as well as poor performance and bugs. The Forza games don't even pretend to care about wheel users (or gamers even) anymore. rFactor is jungle bonanza spaghetti code And iRacing is a microtransaction fiesta. The reality of a simracer is incredibly sad.
I got into PC2 recently after never touching it (because people said it's bad) and I love it. I wish more games had this much quality content to them. The campaign sucks but have you seen assetto corsa?
GTR2 (made by the same studio as PC1, 2, 3, I believe) was the greatest sim I've ever played until Assetto Corsa Competizione. It did everything right. Such a great game. Too bad my XP computer bought the farm or I'd still be playing it.
On PlayStation we have a whole community that chats regularly we are the last people keeping project cars 1 alive!
I think a lot of people are just super nostalgic about it because it was the most accessible driving sim for them when they were just getting into simracing, it also depends on your age as well, because you even have the Toca series in the 2000s that's pretty comparable; a game with a ton of content but because there's so many diff cars, the handling and physics of each are a mixed bag. PC2 was even more frustrating because you required a fan written guide as to what to adjust the AI to for every race because they were so imbalanced. They were literally Jesus walking on Water in the wet, and unstoppably fast even on freezing cold tracks. I just think PC2 was immediately outdone by so many of its contemporaries that perhaps didn't have a console port.
I wouldn't be a simracer with Project Cars 2, but because it was only in like 2019/20 that I got into simracing, how frustrating it was to navigate the career mode after choosing a series with a car that handles like garbage and AI that is not only much faster than you'll ever be but drives around you like you don't exist, I soon had to move on to other games. Reiza really has picked up the reins from Slightly Mad and made it into something they never could at this point. I guess that's why i don't get the notion that somehow simracing is suffering because Project Cars no longer exists. I think everyone's hitting that nostalgia pipe a little too hard over it 😆
For me, 'nostalgia' has nothing to do with it: still on it several hours per week.
@@JPKelly-xr7tr you should try automobilista 2, its basically the REAL project cars 3
@@h1tzzYT I love AMS2, and as a bonus it is unbeatable in VR, but unfortunately it lacks career mode for now.
What cars were you driving? I drove many of them and only a handful were bad
This game still holds up well to this day as long as you can live with some idiosyncrasies. My favourite car and track combo would be the Porsche 935/77 and Spa.
Word!
Finally!!! Someone who actually appreciates the Project Cars series! It's such an underrated series!
Not Project Cars 3 🚫
PC2 was the only game which ran decently in VR on my crappy PC
can they sell the game to someone else to continue the franchise?
One of the most complete racing sim ever made , 1000 menu and settings , 60 tracks , amazing cars , one of the best ffb ever , great physics, great graphics, great sound , engine sound , view settings , the most complete ever. Wheather system
So from the xbox series x perspective here the best of the best we have :
1. Acc
2. Ac
3. Project cars 2
Rally
1. Dirt 2.0 the king
2. Wrc 10 ( way better than generation handling ffb physics, generation is still a mess for now March 2023)
3. Dakar desert rally

Agreed! 👍 Not perfect, but fun, diverse and good looking.
AGREED " GREATEST OF ALL TIME " ❤
And got the best DLC for racing ever :) the Le Mans one :)
with the sauce
I was playing PC2 just yday for the first time in more than a year
I’ll say this - when PC2 is bad, it’s infuriating, but when you find a good car + track combo, it’s still extremely good fun
Still looks amazing if you can max out the graphics, and I’ve never thought the physics - with certain “good” cars - was as bad as everyone said
They just kill the most handfull and enjoyable race game off all time.
Pc2 is the Goat! Just ordered it for £5
The karting aspect of Project Cars 2 just really didn't do it for me
Seeing your videos about PC2 made me feel like i missed out on a great racing experience, my quriosity got the better of me and i was able to find gamekeys available through g2a. ive purchased PC2 Deluxe Edition for 9,20$! looking forward to finally experiencing this sim.
What was it Ian did again?
Idk maybe call his own customers "stupid" and swear a lot in online forums or make completely false promises on future products to the point where it could be called false advertising.
1 and 2 were great, definitely the best sim racer...
1 has the best ffb on console hands Down. Greeting the settings right was a bit of a struggle
Loved pc2 till an update killed the soft lock on my g923 on pc
Project Cars 1 is still the most immersive VR racing you can experience in my opinion. Even better than Project Cars 2.
Tried all, project cars is still the best
