Oh my goodness! So many things to love about this video. The food! Your gorgeous family! The wedding! Mom!!!! I took my father to this island for his birthday 15 years ago. We ate at Giovanni's and Waiola. Giovanni's was so much different then (except for the truck). There was no patio, only a gravel parking lot with a few tables and no line like you stood in. Brought back so many wonderful memories. Thank you so much for this lovely video. :)

Your okasan is so sweet. My family took care of my mother in the last 2 years of her like . We enjoyed having her and her two favorite things: Singing and eating! I'd make her favoriite lunch on Saturdays: Scrambled eggs, Portuguese sausage and rice with furikake on top. Once I made her grilled butterfish misoyake and she was in heaven. You're taking good care of your mom. Blessings!

Hawaii's food is the best because of the various Japanese, Korean, Filipino, Portuguese, Vietnamese, American, and European influences in the food. Everybody has brought everything to the table for all to enjoy. Yummy!!!!

In Italy we love Tako. We have a dish called “polpo e patate” or “insalata di polpo” that is super delicious! If you ever come to Italy and are hanging in a town by the seaside, you must try it out! It comes with olives, potatoes and a slice of lemon to squeeze on it. Make sure you also put some extra virgin olive oil. It's the best dish you can have here during the summer.

We used to call food trucks, lunch wagon back around 1950. Plate lunches tilted toward Japanese food was the norm. I left Hawaii in 1953.

I know this was 4 years ago but poke has been famous in Washington for a very long time and Poke shops and trucks are everywhere- there’s a Sam’s Poke shop in Seattle Wa and at SEATAC airport
