25 Things You Missed In Kingsman

The latest film from legendary director of X-Men: First Class and Layer Cake is another installment in his franchise that focuses on tropes from famous spy tv shows and movies like the James Bond 007 franchise, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. or Get Smart. It also has references to franchises starring the likes of Sir Michael Caine and more. These are the same inspirations that caused the similarities between Vaughn’s spy franchise and the Austin Powers franchise, namely the spy with glasses trope that both films use. They also feature the Batman Begins star to drive the point home.
There are many other references to other spy films, behind the scenes secrets and such that this franchise has pulled past you. You might love to know about the scene that almost caused several real life fatalities when a water stunt went horribly horribly wrong. Then there are actors like Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Sofia Boutella, Ralph Fiennes, Taron Egerton and Aaron Taylor-Johnson who all have personal stories about the franchise. Don’t forget The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal who was a Statesman modeled after actor Burt Reynolds for the previous installment. There are also references to the Superman franchise, Martha Stewart and several other popular tv shows from when Matthew Vaughn was a kid. Apparently they left such a mark that he was willing to pass up his sequel to X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The King's Man is already setting up some awesome sequel prequels. I can't wait!
The sex ending in Kingsman was funny and stereotypical, but more funny was that Vaughn get along with the ending making it an important plot point in the second movie, reversing the "one night only" trope of James Bond movies and having Eggsy maintain the relationship and considering her a priority, even above his mission.
Having Eggsy be gay would have been a better subversion of Bond. It never would have happened, but it would have been interesting. A Bond Guy instead of a Bond Girl lol.

@Kelli Koeller That would have knocked the audience down, though. This is an action movie, with lots of violence. It's made for young men. That would have floated like a lead balloon with that audience. It's an interesting subversion I'll give you that, the idea of a gay super spy has been floated before with Rupert Everett tagged as a potential lead after his turn in My Best Friend's Wedding, but nothing ever came of it.
They should've kept Merlin alive.
Eggsy/Tilde relationship is surprisingly cute; and it was nice supervision from having him end up with Roxy. That being said, they wasted Roxy and Merlin in The Golden Circle.
yea i love the fact that the movie didnt make Roxy the love interest coz then its kinda cliche ykyk. and i agree that they wasted such a good character like Roxy and Merlin, they had so much more potential!!

@@yahoo8 Can't really blame them for wasting Roxy, she had another film to act for I believe the reason behind her quick demise was.
It's inconclusive if Roxy actually died or not.

Nah I loved the girlfriend ending, if they didn't do it then people would be asking where she was in the 2nd movie or complain that their interactions had no payoff

Something you missed was another thing about the dogs. It’s pretty obvious to anyone who knows anything about Elton John, but the dogs names are Benny and Jet, a reference to his song Benny and the jets

Hey, the ultimate spy is an animated character! Yep! Archer, Sterling Archer. An aRCHeR feature would slam the missed plot twists in 2, of which there were far too many!

Bring in Tom Hardy to make Eggsy jealous, because he’s a better Kingsman. He could make him look bad, but it might be too much like, “This Means War” movie.
Small point - The Avengers was not a BBC show it was on the commercial channel ITV. ITV was way cooler and less posh than the BBC showing programmes like The Avengers and The Saint (with Roger Moore), both hugely influential on the Swinging Sixties cultural scene.
I think the point they wanted to make (for the worldwide audience watching) is that The Avengers originated on a British television channel.
Fellow nerd info: In September 1955 Independent Television aka ITV, was launched in Britain to help break the monopoly of BBC.

The Avengers was an ITV, not a BBC programme.
ABC for Thames Television as I remember, anyway commercial / independent not BBC both in the original and New Avengers in which Steed was immaculate in suit, bowler and used an umbrella as a weapon

Swears mean that the channel has less chance of sponsors, the more family friendly a channel is the more companies will sponsor them. It’s seen as family friendly means more views and likely more traffic to sponsors sites equally more business
