Is boutique amp a Dumble Steel Singer?! Cool! I really apreciate that sound and will go to do more experiences with that tone
So the deluxe is not a deluxe? Strange. Dumble is also a weird choice for a model considering how rare it is. Usually those are some sort of matchless.
I have to say that in my experience of the Vox Valvetronix range and now hearing this, Vox have the best digital modelling amps out there and yet for some reason are not mentioned in the same breath as the Katanas, Line 6 etc. Crazy!!
July 2024 - Andertons blindfold "winner stays on" comp for budget amps, the Valvetronix beat all the big names... Easy.
I have one of these amps. I use it as a clean pedal platform, and it's great for recording with the built-in audio interface, and sounds close to the way it does in the room. My only gripe with it is I would have preferred a mid control instead of the modulation effects. I've used it live, and had no trouble being heard. It is PLENTY loud and takes pedals very well. Not only that, it weighs next to nothing. It took me a little while to reign in the noise, but other than that, it sounds great! I LOVE IT! I highly recommend checking it out for yourself.

Vox Cambridge 50 is the Boss. I love Vox amps and its jingle jangle. Even its modelling amps. I own three of its amplifiers. I love the Cambridge 50's simple user interface, 12โ Celestion speaker, and wattage control for pushing the amp for better tone at lower volume levels as i play small bar/coffee shop gigs and noodle a bit at home / jamming with friends.
Vox have been making great small amps for a few years now.
I have a VT40X and gives me all the tones i need, with more via the
Vox Tone Room program.
To my ears it sounds better than the overhyped Boss Katana.
So many people recommend the VT40X. I still haven't tried it.

Just in case nobody else has allready said it: The Brit VM is (of course!!!) the OD2 Channel of a Marshall J*VM* 4xx :)
Admittedly I am a vox fan boy and have been for 40 years - I have an AC15 and love it to bits. It's only recently though that I have paid vox solid state amps any real attention. I have come to the opinion that these are probably the most under appreciated amps in their price point.
Good word. I've been thinking about going this route. They don't take up very much room, real estate is at a premium in my bedroom / practice habitat so it's all good news.

I purchased this amp last Christmas. Took a little while to learn how to adjust pre-sets in Vox Tone Room(computer), but now have a couple of My own sets saved. The Vox AC15 & 30, and the Marshall pre-sets sound great, as is. They were developed with assistance from Korg.
Great practice amp. Only downs- no Bluetooth, no looper.

โJVMโ stands for Jim and Victoria Marshall, she being Jimโs daughter, who I believe now runs the company. Also, โJTMโ stands for Jim and Terry Marshall, Terry being Jimโs son. Anyway, Iโm loving the Vox Cambridge 50 and your fresh presentation of it. (I was the Vox demonstrator in the late noughties and I bought and still use a ToneLab ST, but the Cambridge 50 seems to be a fantastic evolution (with fewer presets as it happens, although surely sufficient for most situations), with, as you say, a big, bold sound.)

I got one. Sounds great. I use the Brit800 tone for my punk band. Lots of fun โผ๏ธ๐ธ๐๐ฅ. Plenty loud!
Today is Saturday. After a lot of research, I ordered a Cambridge 50 yesterday. Can't wait till Monday when it arrives. Thankfully my Line 6 Spider 112 is now with it's new owner. It was good, but not in the same league as the Vox

I would guess that the Petender setting is in reference to 'The Pretenders' dead guitarist (who's name escapes me).

I have a Vox VTX valvetronix amp which is the older model and it has a mids knob.
The only downside is the crappy extension plug
I like it better than the new Cambridge models. Great practice amp.
I have had a couple of the VTX Valvetronix amps. Very good they were too.
Andy I love your reviews but have to differ with you on this one. I have played a Vox VTX 40 and pretty much love everything about it. I should have bought it. I ordered the Cambridge 50 sight unseen thinking more power, bigger speaker, l and less weight. Big mistake the VTX 40 sounds much better.
But it's not loud enough for a loud band with a loud drummer ๐ข
My Brother bought one and I had it for a time. I ,made a few presets. I actually liked this amp. I am all about tubes, but this one has real feel to it.
I've not heard this one before. It's awesome, and now on my wishlist. I don't have a modelling amp, and this one might just do the trick. Thanks for showing this one off. Shame you had to send it back.

as a fan of queen and u2 and the ac30 which i never have but still want, I love every preset in this amp, i really want a thing like this, so i hoppe they made a really powerfull one, like the ac30 kind of power
Blimey. That sounds blooming awesome. I canโt be doing with thin sounding guitar amps. Thatโs warm and chunky and shouty in a really nice way. The Red-1 setting was great and I remembered that Dave Grohl is a big fan of the Vox AC-30 so I guess that makes sense.

Am I missing something on the Cambridge 50? I'm here because I was deciding between the VT40X and the Cambridge 50, but what just hit me is I don't see any distortion dial on the C50 panel, nor in the Tone Room editing software? Is the distortion level handled just by the gain knob? And Tone Room doesn't have any distortion pedals to select from? Why would Vox do this?

As usual, great review albeit a quick out of the box play. Iโm considering this one or the Boss Katana 100 x2. Any recommendations? Having the looper would be nice.
It is a great question. For this price, if you like the AC30 sound, get it. If you want something more versatile, the katana

Just picked up my Cambridge 50 used, amazing sounding amp, however there seems to be a lot of hissing from it. Is that normal for a lot of staticky and hissing noise when not playing these? Can't hear it when I'm actually strumming.

Nice. But why is the range of functions in the tone room for the cambridge 50 so limited in contrast to the VTx series? I miss e.g. a compressor, which in turn is available for the VTx....

How is this compared to the BLACKSTAR ID CORE v3 20?
Not same type of amp. IdCore is way smaller, this is more louder. Both sounds very good as for what they are.

I had an old Vox AD30vt and it was awesome. sold it years ago for $60. Now looking for something good for American metal. My old Vox had that as its weak spot. How is this for Metallica type metal? Can you get those tones?

I'm a huge fan of the Cambridge 50 as a clean pedal platform. With a Strymon Iridium in front the "deluxe reverb" is incredibly convincing and the Marshall grunt comes through nicely. The biggest advantage that sold me was the attenuator.
Does it take distortion pedals ?
@@evanevan_007 I used to use it that way with an OCD and Tumnus Deluxe in front of the Iridium, lately I switched to an HX Stomp XL instead, and still really love what the Cambridge 50 can do.

@@ReveeGuitarist I don't know what review you read, and I haven't tried a NuX MG-30, but I can't imagine why it wouldn't work just as well with a Cambridge 50 as with a Katana. I'm going in to the front end with tuner>Stomp XL>Iridium.

I was thinking between Boss Katana, Marshall Code and VOX Cambridge.
I used to Play on VOX AD 30VT one of their first combo and it sounded to nie better than colleague Roland Cube 30. And now I hear VOX to me sound just nicer than Katana.
Wish Id seen this before I purchased the spark.
They are really different amps though. The Spark is great at what it does and so is this.

It sounds really good but what puts me off this amp is the lack of an fx loop. I wonder how much the Nutube makes to the sound?
Itโs really not that kind of amp. Itโs a box of sound rather than a โrealโ amp.
I have one I use petals with it I donโt like the onboard effects I also rewired it so I can plug it into my 2 x 12 my poor neighbors

Vox really missed a trick with the MV50, I bought one cheap, through a good cab, its really good, but WHY ffs didn't they add an effects loop, I bought a Katana mk1 100W 2x12 on ebay, use it in a pop stuff band I play in, brilliant, for big boy stuff, still got the Marshall, but one trick pony. Don't discount these new amps.

Kills me when the presets are so strange. "Preset 1" kind of implies that it would be a "home" setting, or a very basic thing. Nothing like spending you first 3 hours working to find a useable basic tone. Exception being the Tonemaster rigs

I couldnโt 100 % say. The high gain Amps are VERY VERY LOUD. I would love to test it with a drummer
Word. I keep almost buying one of these for smaller gigs but havenโt...yet.
It cuts right through! I play with a few notoriously heavy handed drummers ,and both have told me to turn it down haha๐ค๐ฝ

Well, it may be for many reasons.
You were not aware of the hucksted product which you are flogging;
You had no reason to go looking for a device in this category; or - most likely - because you have not played this (item at issue) because you had not played one even though aware of it.
In any event, the question as a title for a video makes you look a pillock and being an Englalonder, you KNOW what a pillock is ...
I hope more people care about language and how we are fed this nonsense and hubris - when all along it is a commercial plug for a Thing.
