    This is a really fun idea. There is a person that works at the studio where I work and she brings in those plastic air filled packing pillows that you get in so many deliveries these days. To make pillow shaped trinket boxes, she builds a pillow around them, leaving them inflated till the clay is leather hard. She does all her decorating on them while the pillow is still inside. Then, she cuts a hole in the box and uses that piece for a lid. She adds a gallery around the inside of the box part so the lid can sit right back in place where she lifted it off. Of course after she cuts the lid away, it's easy to deflate and remove the plastic pillow. Super Cute!!!

      Hey Vicki, that is brilliant! Thanks for sharing...and the inspiration. I wonder if they sell different sizes of the packing pillows. It would be fun to do like a set of small to large pillows. Take care! ann

      @@annruel1982 That would be fun. There's so much you can do with this pillow shape. I've been paying attention to the different packing pillows and there are different shapes and sizes but none are much larger. However, I think it would be easy to tape two together making a flat space across the top and bottom of the two leaving the edges the nice pillow shape you want. I think this means I need to order stuff from Amazon till I get some nice packing pillows. Is that wrong?

    I remember an art teacher I had got fooled by a clay piece made to look like a cardboard box - he thought it was junk somebody had left in the gallery and went to move it, only to find it was in fact put there on display

    Pretty neat. I noted that you did not show how to complete the tearing of the plastic wrap so it stays un-crumpled. I am sad to admit it but I still do not know how to do that. 😢

    • @annruel1982
      @annruel1982 Před 3 měsíci

      Hey Natalie. Melissa did send me a few pictures of her attempts. After seeing this video, she told me that she wasnt waiting long enough for her clay to dry to leather hard before doing the attaching so the clay would keep its shape, so hopefully this video was able to help her with "pillow". 🙂

    Those are as cute as a bug! I loved em! One question… on the one that were 3 stacked together, did the holes on top go through all 3 pillows?❤️🤗🐝

    • @annruel1982
      @annruel1982 Před 3 měsíci

      Hi Deborah. What I did was, when the stacked piece was leather hard, I actually cut the top of it off and hollowed out the inside by cutting out all of the layers, then when it was lightweight, I reattached that top and cut the holes......so there really wasnt three pillows to go through.

    Thank you for the inspiration. 😘🌻

    • @annruel1982
      @annruel1982 Před 3 měsíci

      Hi Vanessa. I think you are asking about the karate chop pillow, right. I rolled the slab to 1/4 inch thick. It looks a lot thicker after I cut the excess clay away from the slab because of the way I cut the slab flat to to the tray...and the sides of the tray were angled so the I was left with a meaty surface that I could use to my advantage for a better connection when I put those sides together. Thanks so much for watching. I hope I answered your question??
