Funny enough warranty void if removed stickers mean nothing in the states. As long as a repair or modification doesnt break it then there is absolutely 0 ground they can stand on to void your warranty.
Better yet, itâs ILLEGAL. Look up the magnuson moss warranty act.
yeah its illegal but company decided to still do the warranty seal because most people will not take the hassle to sue them instead of paying for repair/new one.
It's not even a factory warranty seal lmaoo
Fun fact! The playstation 3 on their website used to cost $599! IT COSTED THE SAME AS A PS5! IT DIDNT EVEN COME WITH OEM CONTROLLERS

@@wambamthankumam Prices on consoles/games skyrocketed after they went mainstream Nintendo 3DS's cost as much as brand new on Ebay. Also other companies started copying them, plus cartridges are not as affordable as before or let alone some discs.
ââ@@Damien_Bathory Nah, the 3DS price hike is due to Nintendo discontinung it and shutting down the eshop.
DKOldies has no influence on prices outside the US, and the price hike is worldwide.
Ebay is pretty good for collecting old games and if you live in a decent sized city there is a good chance there is a store that buys and sells old games
Not at all, nobody gives a fuck about DKoldies and they're no where near the size/influence of Ebay and other similar sites.
âThey just get dusty when they are being deliveredâ -DKoldies manager⊠probably.
Putting a sticker on something and claiming it "voids the warranty" if you remove it is actually illegal in the US. You can remove any "tamper seal" sticker you want if you live in the US. They don't matter. If a company refuses service because you removed it then it would make THEM liable for a potential lawsuit, not you.
Yes that is true and also they can't put the sticker on the consoles cause it's breaking consumer rights laws
gamestop use to do this and stopped lol
Okay stickers cost $50 to make if it saves them $50 its worth it to them and that moment you slice a void sticker is still iffy for people emotionally.
Six words to explain why I hate this company. Spirit Tracks for one hundred dollars.
i had to look this up to see for myself⊠of ALL games?!
for $123, theyâre selling pokĂ©mon platinumâŠâs *empty case*
â@@fulfordwritesmusic I have no words for that one. I had to look for myself, they're completely delusional
And this is why Piracy should be legalized when talking about the preservation of games/controllers that are no longer being sold by the main publisher.
These prices are absolutely ridiculous, and a daylight robbery.
I like playing video games but If I have to get a controller/device that costs about $300 - $500 that can only play retro games and cannot guarantee the devices to be in good condition, along with the fact that I most likely have to buy a $100+ game as well, I'd rather use the money to buy a new gaming controller/console.
If you look at other retro stores, they have the same game for upwards of $120 too.
Most of the price comes from having EVERYTHING included from the box to the manuals etc.
They also add (free) discounts to random people just because they feel like it which I think they still add the money in
Yea thats wild too
@@GrishuhhYea most videos they give free games when we all know they give them the free games so they seem like a good compmant
Company
Raise the original price and then lower it later to trick customers into thinking it's a discount.
Take 5 steps forward and 2 steps back
It's an anti consumer business tactic to get more money than deserved without the common customer realising.
Now i understand the death threat to Joey lol
Death threats arenât OK, even against scum like him
He's done nothing wrong really, just a spokesperson doing spokesperson things. He's not the owner or anything he's just an employee
Drew is the name of the owner and he should be the one getting hate (not death threats though that's a bit overboard). Like the other comment said I think that Joey guy is just kind of the face of the company and maybe owner of the social medias, but Drew is the man behind it all. I also heard Drew used to be a car salesman which makes a lot of sense.
Meanwhile eBay: selling a Lebron James toy head for 1,000,000,000 dollars
Yeah. But at least with eBay, those are just individual sellers and there are far more good ones than bad.
â@@MegaManDBZX true
â@@MegaManDBZX bullshit
It was just a joke
I've said it once and I'll say it again. The folks on ebay, and some even with their own sites, have listings of FULL actual refurbs and they do it at such a low cost in comparison that I'll happily buy from someone with an ebay store and good ratings over a full fledged b+m business
Theyâre definitely scamming us gamers. Games are the main numbing factor for helping me stay entertained because of my autism and ADHD. This is just outrageous that theyâre doing this
What I find really funny is when they add in the free gifts. The other day I saw one where they gave away a free gameboy color. Looks great, until you realise the customer spent about 1.6k on stuff from there but it made me laugh that people in the comments were like "thats an amazing gift" or " you guys are so generous". I also saw one where the guy ordered 1 or 2 games and got a pez dispenser.
They brag about operating for 20+ years like that with zero regrets so we the people should sue them to make up for all those years in compensation, see who brags then.
Their is a lawsuit in place rn
I have a blue 2ds with a charger AND a game, nearly the same as what was shown in the video(minus the game), and I only had to pay 10% of what they're charging
It may be a little overpriced but holy shit the hate they get is so undeserved. Not too long ago they were sent death threats. Like thatâs just not ok
Death threats are never ok, but the non violent hate and criticism is definitely deserved when they claim to refurbish consoles but dont
Yeah
`we hate them because they are raising prices for you and me. other stores follow along and raise their prices
I paid only 180 CAD on eBay for my ps3 came with 50 games and it was a import for Japan

Same! I got a copy of OoT for ÂŁ21 from my local, going back there today to see if anything catches my eye - I'm itching for a Super Nintendo or Master System game, but we'll see what they've got.
Pretty much standard practices from any game store that Iâve ever bought from. Itâs nothing new honestly. That being said I wouldnât shop with them because the price is far too steep either way.
Those stickers that void your warranty when removed aren't legally true
They deserve the class action law suit.
If you want a good refurbished console/games, get one from Japan. Those guys clean everything to a t and the prices aren't too bad even with added custom taxes. You get way better service a d your money's worth
My local retro game stores have 3ds on those prices or a bit below if theyâre modded. Regular, just $150 base. DKO are straight up making you pay for them to laugh at your face.
The Warrenty is Void if Removed sticker is actually unenforceable and illegal under the Warrenty Act of 1976 I believe. Companies just rely on you not knowing this.
I mean, I got my Nintendo 64 from DKoldies and it was working fine, soâŠ
That's great đ but when they say they fix and clean consoles before sending them out and then look like they were owned by a chain smoker with pets isn't great.

Not to mention, the prices you see are for a cosmeticly flawed version of the item. If you want one in nicer condition, it can cost up to 50% more. And if you go with the cosmetically flawed version, it will sometimes come in pieces.
Worse then scalpers cause at least they have new product
I bought a few gamecube games from them a while ago. The condition was alright, but the customer service was terrible. I extra paid for fast shipping and it arrived the same estimated date as normal shipping. Their online stock was also incorrect so tho they charged me for all the games a couple of them were missing on arrival and then they felt like sending me an email that it was out of stock and could keep my money for the next ones that comes in. They were very unhelpful during the entire process
That's the entire reason they add the warranty stickers lol. Most people are afraid to go past that sticker and see what's what. Not this guy. It's a gimmick to keep you from seeing that it isn't in fact refurbished.
ive bought a few consoles from dkoldies: n64, ps2, nes, and ive never had a problem with them. Only issue ive had is the pricing which is definitely absurd but i dont really care.
same bro i got a dsi from them and it was perfectly fine

Even worse than GameStop?
I think as a business itâs garbage but itâs ok for like a grandma or something who wants to support your hobbies and doesnât want to buy the wrong thing and get something at at least works even if itâs got a bit of dust
It's literal fraud
A bit of dust (including caked on smoker gunk), chips taken out of the casings, faulty lasers in optical drives, bulging transistors on motherboards, water damage, dead spiders, etc etc etc.
It is literally a scam. They claim to refurbish systems then send out filthy systems that barely work. If they were just massively overcharging people that'd be one thing. It's the open lies and false advertising that make it a scam.
In fact, the overcharging is most likely a selection process. Anyone who knows enough to spot the scam also knows that these systems are massively overpriced, so they don't buy them, so the scam goes unnoticed for years and years.
They are actually breaking consumer rights laws with the warranty sticker they put on the consoles they can't do that
They probably buy their stock from ebay. So they need to sell it for more to make a profit. They refurbish to justify the higher price. Problem is the refurbishment isn't good enough apparently.
I plan on getting a refurbished PS2 off of Amazon, I believe they will do a better job than DKOldies, I got the GT2 Refurbished from there and no scratches
It's really simple if you don't like their prices shop somewhere else
Honesty the video game company website is better to buy off of
the stickers are actually illegal if they try to enforce it then you can report them and get them in a shit load of trouble.
Not to mention the consoles have been on âsaleâ for years now and im pretty sure its to make it seem like youâre getting a good price when you arenât
A complete DISGRACE
It's the same bullshit Gamestop pulls, just costing more. I bought a "refurbished" PS2 slim from Gamestop and it wouldn't play most my games and those it did ran poorly.
Also, I think I remember hearing somewhere that in the US, opening a device can't void the warranty.
Ice asked for a quote on how much they would pay me for two pretty rare games and laughed at the offer
What games out of curiosity? And why not sell em yourself? Most stores won't give more than 25 to 40% in cash or store credit.
Pokémon mystery dungeon explorers of sky is mine and my brother wanted to see how much he could get for Yokai. Watch three cents Nintendo E shop is now closed. I just wanted to see how much I could sell them for two DK oldies but I mean my local game shop offered me more than the combined amount that DK oldies offered me for both games for just the one.
Plus not forget about shipping cost and tax cost on items as well.
As bad as their prices can be, sometimes they have legitimately good products
No one forces you to buy anything from them. You know the price upfront before you purchase the item. It cost a lot of money to run a business and especially if you have a lot of employees.
Exactly. People are just looking for excuses at this point.
they are tricking new retro players into thinking these are normal prices. its not fair to them either
IDC if it's clean or not all I care about is that if it works
Really scammy but i like their pack up videos
Dkoldies is mainly meant for casuals who are usually getting one or two things from their childhood.
I remember dk oldies almost 20 years ago when they would accept game genie codes. I use to email back and fourth with them
Keep in mind that fake copies can easily show up on eBay & Facebook Marketplace
Just to expensive.....these games shouldn't cost more than new top dollar new releases
Id rather have a 40 dollar console that may develop an issue I can most likely fix, then a 200 dollar console period. Especially if they don't do do shit to them
i recently bought their stuff i got a black gameboy advance, indigo gameboy color, pokemon red and silver. i love their product and i dont have any issues with mine yea theres abit rust on the battery port for the gameboy advance but i can take it out and clean it and mod it if i want to they are a great company
You also probably paid twice as much compared to some other places
So glad I bought a modded 2ds for only $120
Bro i remember in 2013 when the 3ds was 300 dollars and they are charging 213 for one in 2023 thats just dumb
They wonât bring down the price for Def Jam Fight For NY that shii be irritating asf đ€Źđ€Źđ€Ź
They can charge as much or as little as they want for their offerings, but it's that they claim they are refurbished when they are often not. At that point it doesn't matter what the cost was, they lied.
I wrote them ONE comment. With a simple question but heavily implying that if the answer was no i would not buy from them (the article in questions) it was a no.
A week goes by and I realized I had been put on a SPAM list and was getting 3+ emails /day from a store i had no interest in.
Man I got my 2ds from GameStop for around 60$ brand new with Mario kart 7
This is such a scam
I think they need put in the effort and actually clean and repair the consoles properly. And even then, their prices are way too high. It's pathetic how little they do and how much they charge for their tiny amount of effort.
I bought a 3ds from them in âgood conditionâ and it came in with scratches all over the top and the screen!
The price isn't the problem, false advertisement is the problem.

As they kidnap all those consoles... The only I can say is web never negotiate with terrorist.
Just dont buy, enjoy the hobby and restore urself. Contact ur local antena/electrĂłnics/hardware shop, ask for little help (paying oc)... And this scambased shops will fall
Refurb game sites are a grift. Just like graded video game carts and boxes.

I think they are facing a class action lawsuit for false advertising
I always thought that if they clean and make sure the stuff is not fake then the price can be Justified to many people. But come to find out they don't even do that is crazy. People would buy from them to avoid potentially getting scammed on eBay. But who knew that they were buying from the actual scammer.
its impossible to get scammed on ebay, why do people keep saying that. if you got scammed on ebay, you dont know how to use ebay
Those places are a lot worse than dkoldies Facebook marketplace and OfferUp and eBay but at least they're not scamming you and claiming they clean consoles and refurbish them
I've known they were absurdly expensive for a decade.
Those prices are hilarious and laughable. Iâm laughing out the door.
I stick to lukie games for my retro games fix. It would be nice if there was streaming service for old retro games that are either hard to come by or those that are overpriced.
Just a heads up warranty void stickers are completely meaningless. They still legally have to honor the warranty.
Dont buy from them source your own retro games
Whatâs offer up ? Does it get shipped to you like eBay or do you have to go to the house to pick it up
Glad they are getting sued
Sounds like today's independent video game stores.
Good ones still exist, I'm just down the road from one. My local buys games at a good price and then sells them at below what you'd pay online on ebay or whatever. Razor thin margins though - they have to operate inside a music shop. Despite that they've got loads of games, a decent amount of consoles, and even some collectables for sale. So yeah. Good ones are rare, but they're out there - when you find one, cling on for dear life.
I think of it as paying a lot extra to get their faster as most internet market place take a long time to get their
The reason dkoldies has high prices is to mimic the prices of the original product during its time of release to make you feel more into the time of when the console first came out to convince the consumer to look more into their website.
That is the most garbage argument of all
DK Oldies has as much sincerity in video game collecting as those big name CZcamsr and Streamers have with Pokemon cards.
They're all in it for the money.
This company should be be stopped with this and give everyone a refund that got scammed. It's really bad
the truly refurbish it to as close to it was upon those consoles original release date, youre product is guaranteed to work, not an if a maybe or a hope
Its kinda funny how a company made for trading old consoles is ripping ppl off yet ebay has more quality control in terms of the car part sector
Iâm able to go into a game store or any other pawn shop and buy the original 2ds console preowned for around $60 American money. Imagine charging triple that much when your âreburbishedâ consoles arenât even as polished as they should be. I think a bit of dust and dirt would be fine if their consoles werenât so overpriced.
They Just Put Dust In The Consoles

I don't mind buying an old console that needs work, I'd just like that information to be upfront and not be lied to about the condition so you can charge more
