The major outcome we want to achieve here is which gimbal would actually suit you best. The are both different gimbals for different people but are priced very similar. The weebill s is a much older gimbal so it carrys older technology. Zhiyun have refined their techniques with building gimbals and the Crane M3 is a representation of that.
There are many features here on the Crane M3 which makes it a fantastic gimbal but I want to answer which cameras can it actually hold.

I bought the DJI rs3 mini. The Crane M3 could not handle my FX30 with the Sony 18-135 lens. The rs3 mini is great but doesn't talk to my camera unfortunately

Thanks for this. I own the Weebill S, and almost pulled the trigger on the M3. The clearance issue is a deal breaker for me. I’ve owned many gimbals, but the Weebill S I think is my all time favorite. Perfect combination of portability and performance.

One thing I need to point out is that it isn't the sensor size of your camera you need to think about. But how properly balanced it is with how heavy the lens you have on is. A small full frame prime lens will fit just fine on the m3

If you switch everything - gimbals, cameras, phones, computers etc - all the time, that becomes a full time job and you won't do any actual creative stuff or learning

The best would be a combination of two. Better materials and solid locks from m3, the led light and the weight from the m3, the removable battery and the slung handle with fast attach, the longer arm from weebill s to handle 28-75 g2, the screen from m3, with the expansion base and microphone and bluetooth module control. The ease of balancing, arca swiss compatible plate with fast attach, the display of the precise motor setting from weebill s but displayed on the better screen of the m3. If Zhiyun creates this new gimbal, it would sale like crazy..for the price of the current m3…i am certain of that..it would beat everything around..it would become the new reference gimbal king.

Hello Jason, do you have clearance issue on M3 if you open display on Sony a6400. And can you go in underslung mode and then open the display. I need gimbal for kids so underslung mode will be used most of the time. Another option is DJI Ronin SC but it doesn't work without phone.

Dude I'm really stuck between weebill 3s and crane m3s. Since I'm low un budget and I also have a small camera (zve-10) and shoot with my ohone from time to time too, i wanted to buy the m3s, but most of my videos are vertical and they all say the m3s is not that good for using in vertical mode. However, It seems using the vertical mode on m3s is more convenient since it doesn't need rebalancing. Can you help me make my mind please?
(Another question, if I buy the standard version of the m3s, can i add a normal phone mount to it? Or it has to be it's own mount?

I watched 15 different reviews on the M3 - nobody talks about 1) if the horizontal scroll can be set to control tilt and sensitivity to speed, and 2) does it have the ability to control the M3 with your iPhone using an app, especially control of the movement?

One thing I wished they had on the Crane m3 is a setting for brightness of the screen. Mine already has a battery symbol burned into the OLED screen 🙃
This is an important information. I thought to it as well, as i know oled is subject to burn in if a symbol stay at the same place (this is why i would never buy an oled tv). Oled is also sensible to sun light..If they did not implemented a screen saver or pixel shifting technology , the crane m3 is not a good choice at all. The screen will become unusable very fast. I don’t know why they don’t use a qled type technology which can be very bright and no subject to burn in. These tech companies are stupid. I started to see computer monitor as well. This is terrible ideas. A computer screen stays on for a long time and some elements are very static. I have a vr headset oled. This is ok, as the picture change always, and we use it for a small amount of time. But the screen of a gimbal, or a monitor, this is terrible idea. People can use a gimbal u der direct sunlight with full brightness for hours..
I reckon a e-ink screen would be killer there, they are legible under direct sunlight and if in the dark you coul just put a tiny backlight and avoid any burning issues

I was considering the Crane M3 for my Sony a7C (instead of my current Weebill S), mostly for the light. But then realised that about the only time I 'might' need a light, is if I wanted to take some footage during an excursion on my mountain bike, and in that case, my bike has a nice little quick release, adjustable NR Lumina Oled 1100 light that I could probably just hold with my other hand! Also, I have a Crane M2 for my RX100 VA and (when comparing to the a7C with the Weebill S), the extra weight of the a7C and Weebill S seem to make videos more stable. Could the weight of larger gimbals be more stable that light little ones?

Small prime lens would not be an issue... if u use zoom lens u will see its having stabilisation issue.
Why doesn't this video have 50k views? I'm using the Crane M3 when I go out climbing, but still prefer the Weebill S in the gym where gimbal weight is not a factor.

I am debating between Weebill Lab (the original one) and Crane M3. On the same stand, they are identical regarding the size (height) but M3 provides better stabilization due to a newer algorithm. But M3 has issues with A7IV where the front lever is blocked by a grip and the quick release plate seems to be not so durable to hold heavier loads. No dual protection from accidental unlocking, like Weebill Lab has. Plus Weebill Lab surely can hold more load, it is a little heavier (200 grams). In a long run, it will be felt in the arm.

@@JasonMorrisphotocinema the main reason why i am asking is some Sony cameras after installation on gimbal , we have no access to SD card swap and battery change . SONY ZV 1 or E 10 and more expensive like Sony Alpha .So we are forced to remove cameras which is very very uncomfortable .

I own a fx30. Bought it after your review. I am interested in the Crane M3. I have the Sony 18-135 lens. Could the M3 handle this setup. The lens weighs 326 g. On your review you have a similar size lens attached. Could you please let me know. Thanking you Ernst
I use the a6600 with the M3 and tried it with the 18-105 lens it was simply too heavy for the gimbal. I hope that gives you some idea.

I purchased the crane m3 for use with my Sony A7SII and A7C. I have a Weebil S, and I like it a lot but wanted something smaller for travel. The issue I have with the Sony A7SII and the Crane M3 is the balancing seeing that it cannot rotate fully without hitting the back of the gimbal. How did you balance the A7SIII correctly without being able to even put the camera into that position when balancing? Also the quick release plate that comes with the gimbal as standard, requires that you remove the plate in order to attach the camera to your tripod, or even to change batteries. They don't list anywhere on their site where you can purchase the customized plates. Do you know where we can get these?

I read some people were contacted by zhiyun after buying it and received their custom plate for free. (Dixit amazon buyer comments). Did you?
@@CC-gt3ro Unfortunately I purchased mine on Amazon before finding out that they were offering the quick release plates for free on the main website. But I reached out to zhiyun and they were nice enough to send a plate for my A7S III at no charge. It doesn't really hlp much. I had hoped it would allow me to attach an Arca type so I could switch between gear, but no such luck.
@@patrickrobertson7895 good to know they offered the custom plate after buying on amazon site. You need a weebill S for that. With a sony a7c + smallrig 3212 cage and smallrig DBC2506 and the weebill S, a peak design strap lite, you can do exactly that super fast in seconds. Switch from handheld with strap to no strap to gimbal.
I not long picked up the weebill s working great :) I agree the M3 great for smaller camera's, the weebill s don't really seem much bigger. I do like the screen on the M3 tho.
Brilliant choice. The weebill s is still my main choice apart from the crane 3s with the FX6

I keep hearing the axis locks on the Weebil S arnt built well and often break.
They are not broken, but just the spring and two plastic inside are displaced. You need to open the door and place them back. You have a video on youtube on this. The locks are not well designed but at least they can be Self repaired.

@@markshirley01 the locks technology was new at the time of the weebill s. Some gimbal didn’t have it at all.
At least these are not broken like people said. They should not need to send back for repair, and wait long weeks for that. The licks are simply misplaced after a shock. It is recommended to use the locks only for moving in the bag. Don’t keep the camera on the gimbal with the locks on except for bslancing and it should be ok.
Some renowned reviewers place the weebill s as the best travel gimbal and the best battery gimbal. They all say it is not the best stabilization of all gimbals but it is good and you get good reliable footage. The cons is the locks design and the buttons on the handle which we can easily press by mistake but the button can be locked. Overall it is the less expensive and the more lightweight gimbal that can take big camera. Also the slung mode is the best to my opinion and it has the best battery design. But like all electronics that come from china, the issue is probably the customer service. At least this is the only model that don’t have an expiration date of 3/4 years because you can change the battery..the only one..

I never connected the a7iii to the gimbal. I found the amount of times I was on a gimbal i only needed to quickly get some shots

You need to connect with usb-c and choose panasonic instead of sony in the settings. And everything can be controlled, iso, speed, aperture, and start stop and electronic focus. However notice you will lose eye af face detection as you need to go to pc remote. This is sony problem not zhiyun. You also lose ibis if you try to connect to the gimbal for the same reason. Notice also if you reverse the gimbal , you will lose face detection with sony cameras.

I have the m3 for a few days now, and a6400 with 18-105 pz sony, but somehow i cant seem to balance it. I admit that is my fault that I didnt do enough research on compatibility lenses. I mean, its understandable, cuz 18-105 is a bit heavier lens at the end of the day. But i've seen a video where a guy said that is possible to balance that combo but just post a teaser video. If I could, i think maybe now i would replace the m3 for weebill s

People are complaining about connectivity. There is no built in bluetooth. And a7c cannot be controlled by usb-c. Oled screen has no auto off and no brightness settings, which will lead to burn in. The custom plate are not available. I would like to see what they will do to improve these issues. The minimum for me is the auto off screen and brightness settings. I won’t connect the a7c with wire. I can use the sony bluetooth remote to control it, and the plate standard is enough for me. But i want the screen saver. People are already reporting burn in screen. So i want this update.
I couldn't go with the M-3 because the batteries make it disposable .

I don’t think you can right now. It does not have built in bluetooth, but a futur external bluetooth module is in development apparently and work in conjonction with the expansion base. It could possibly resolve the issue. We have no information on it yet. But a7c cannot be controlled as well with bluetooth right now (from buyers comment) , and it is also not compatible with wire. Currently you can only charge the camera with the gimbal and that’s it.

@@metal_sandwich i agree. It seems they released the gimbal when it is unfinished. Feature are not here yet, and custom plate are not available on the site. It has also no auto off screen or brightness settings , and with an oled screen always on at high brightness all the time, this will lead to burned in screen. What i would like is a weebill S but with LED light , micro expansion and built in bluetooth to control a7c without need to go pc remote via usb-c, which does not even work for a7c and crane m3. And retain the removable battery and the slung mode second handle. At 900g, with capacity to handle bigger zoom, such gimbal would be the best. It seems the crane m3 works only if you don’t connect, and if you have prime lens with bigger mirrorless camera.

Weebill broke after 6 months and weebill S broke after 2 years loving my used dji ronin sc of 2 years now
What was broken on your weebill S ? If it was the locks, these were not really broken, but just displaced inside. We have simply to remove the 4 screws on the roll and tilt axis and place well the spring and two plastics inside. I read people semding their gimbal to repair, when they can self repair in one minute. Except the locks, and with firmware 2.07, the weebill s has not too much issues except maybe a shift on the vortex mode and turning the handle simultaneously. Except that it works. Locks design are not the best but can be self repair. And it has the best battery design. Crane m3 will be good for trash in less than 3 years. Dji battery are good for 3/4 years max. (Confirmed by dji). Weebill s has unlimited battery life.
@@CC-gt3ro the quick-locking mechanisms weren't working, the tightening knob got loose as well, making it impossible to balance the gimbal
@@bokbokeh you could have repair easily the locks in few minutes. These are not broken. It is a spring and two plastics that moved inside. These had to be place back on their position. For the knobs was it the knob at each axis or the knob of the plate? I thought you could have find replacement for these pieces. I ask because i am interested to buy the weebill s and search every bit of information to know how to self repair in case of. I want to know the pieces to watch, and find replacement part. Locks are not a problem i know how to repair that.
This gimbal is heavier then ronin SC and can hold significantly smaller setups and the price is more then twice:(

No ZOOM function via the Adjustment Wheel. The manual states that it will be available in a later upgrade. This is a great disappointment!!! You can only control the camera via USB cable (no Bluetooth as with the M2). The only camera control with my Sony ZV-1 that I could use was recording. Such a failure for a blogging gimbal!! At least with the Crane M2 you could control the zoom of the camera. This Zhiyun product had failures too! It would cause the Sony ZV-1's screen to darken so much that you couldn't view it in the sun! I feel that the Crane-M3 is a downgrade to the Crane-M2 in basic functionality. An incorporated LED light is nice, but you need to be able to control the camera's zoom!!!!
You mean the clearimage zoom and digital zoom. Powered zoom lens are very rare and extremely expensive around 4000$ and 7000$. You can control these zoom settings with the bluetooth remote of sony. You need to strap it to the gimbal. It has video/photo start stop, half shutter, af-on tracking and zoom in/out features. You can control the m3 with one hand and get the remote in the other hand. It should works.Until their release their bluetooth receiver that works with the expansion base. (No info yet of feature and compatibility with zv1 and a7c)
