    Thanks for the extremely informative video! Got more from the first five minutes of this than a year of reasearch from cat! Personally I think cat still builds a very competitive mountain sled despite current trends, that being said their marketing is just terrible! Like please give us some specs Cat

    Awesome video of in-depth look at these clutches! I think it’s awesome what they’ve done to the new 22 clutches and how much more serviceable they seem to be! and pumped to take my 22 146 out during Xmas break! Im in alberta, and buying from cat dealer weights were like $120-130 cad, and from what my dealer told me is all spring release 22 got the team clutch and at first cat said come fall you got the new clutch to now you keep the team clutch, and if you want the new clutch it’s extra! So happy I got the fall release, and anyone saying get a powerbloc 80 clutch, have fun waiting till spring at the earliest they are that far behind! As I called in the spring about one for my 13 till I snowchecked my 22, biggest problem I see with the team clutch and everyone I’ve seen say bye bye not a single person put a vent in their clutch panel, I’ll be putting a vent in mine, just like the old m1000 days! Run a vent kit no problems, didn’t in my 13 and started messing up my jackshaft bearings and clutches got 1 ride all fixed and vented it was like a brand new sled and my clutches stayed cool the whole ride

    Polaris has been using the bearing on the center shaft since 2011ish on their SXS so it may be new to a- cat sled's but Polaris has been using it for years on SXS and we have modified Polaris snowmobile clutches with the bearing on the center shaft for over 5 years for some drag race sled's just a little bit more information on the history of the development of the center bearing thanks for your time and have a great day... Bob..I for got to mention that I really like the way the spider is removed now the old way for the last 35 years or more was not an ez job to do by the looks of it I'd have to say it probably the best clutch the cat has ever made now maybe i won't have to put a Polaris clutch on all of my cat's!! The cat clutch has been one of worst ones on the market for years nice to see them finally step up there game !!.. Bob..

      Yea, we used to put the polaris sxs clutch on the 12’ wildcat when it first came out to get rid of cats wet clutch. Just can’t believe it’s taken this long to transfer to the sled market

    My feedback on this CVT is that it gets very hot !!! Much more than the old one, the engagement is a lot smoother and I’d also say power seems a little more linear.

    I grenaded mine on my 2012 proclimb, spent 400$ on a new clutch. Went for one last spring ride, and ended up smashing my sled into a tree. Now the question is waste more money on Arctic cat, or go buy a Polaris?

    • @mikehd3904

      I'd go cat , way better built than Polaris, they keep shaving weight somewhere and that's the weak point I think, 3500km is what manufacturers say the Polaris is gonna get for kms before a rebuild so ..ur call but I know what I'd be buying

      All the matryx Polaris sleds for 2022 did gain a few pounds. Cat and Polaris make very good sleds, but each brand will have their problems. Hopefully the new cat clutch will be a good new component.

    I have a 2020 riot x 8000 and had the roller bearing go on my team clutch go at about 150 miles. Needed a whole new clutch. Is it possible to just change the roller bearing on the new adapt clutch?

    • @mountainsleddergarage8627
      @mountainsleddergarage8627  Před 2 lety

      Cat does have a "roller bearing kit" (part #8639-449) for the Adapt clutch. They don't offer one for the Team clutch. Its only about $90 for the roller bearing kit. Whether or not they are available is a whole different issue. Cant believe yours went out at 150, crazy.

    Im wondering if the Yamaha Mountain Max clutches fit on a 2020 Alpha? Both are C-tec2 800.

    • @mountainsleddergarage8627
      @mountainsleddergarage8627  Před 2 lety

      On the four stroke mountain sleds Yamaha has used a different Yamaha clutch than Cat. On the two strokes (C-tec 800) Yamaha and Cat use the same clutch. For some reason if you look up Yamaha parts vs cat parts, the Yamaha version of the exact same cat part is almost always a fair amount less expensive. Like the Team primary clutch I just looked up prices on most cat websites its over $600 and Yamaha websites less than $600 for the exact same clutch.

    Does anybody know the best clutch weights is for 1000-4000ft of elevation?

    • @mountainsleddergarage8627
      @mountainsleddergarage8627  Před 2 lety

      The MDS are very good weights, but you need a whole package for primary and secondary that works together for your style of riding and elevation. I like easily adjustable weights (ie, don’t have to take the clutch apart to adjust). The CPC weights have been very good in that regard

    • @mountainsleddergarage8627
      @mountainsleddergarage8627  Před 2 lety

      I haven't seen any weights yet for the new clutch. I know all the aftermarket clutch part guys are working on them, speedwerx weights coming soon, as well as MDS.

    • @mountainsleddergarage8627
      @mountainsleddergarage8627  Před 2 lety +1

      Basically the same clutch, although the complete clutch has different part numbers. The rebuild parts for each clutch are the same. I assume, but don’t 100% know, the crankshaft mounting is different.

    Great video!
    Any idea if this could replace 0746-836? like what was on the really old 900 Zuks in the the ZR3 chassis? Uses a 33mm taper. If offset, diameter and taper is the same (is it?)...why not? Obviously no self-adjusting feature but maybe we could run the secondary to have very little belt deflection manually....
    Something not mentioned anywhere is the the big change to the spider design, where the towers have moved twoards the center and the spider wraps around it. Sure, it helps make tighter packaging and lower inertia, but this should also add a lot of strength and rigidity to the spider assembly, while keeping it aluminum. All the spider arms are tied together and I think it's the most overlooked improvement.
    Moving the buttons to another location is also a great idea, now there is no torque reaction going into the the spider arms where the bushing is and much easier to service. The spider arms only need to do one job now rather than deal with all the the torque reaction and the fly weight force. I think this design is going to work more consistently and reliably. Hopefully they addressed the face cracking near the center as well, but it looks like they did a nice job.

    • @mountainsleddergarage8627
      @mountainsleddergarage8627  Před 2 lety

      Would be really interesting to try on the old 900 twin. If the taper is the same it should be able to be done. Make sure primary and secondary are aligned. The no adjust belt deflection should work with the old secondary as long as you have the correct length belt

    • @mountainsleddergarage8627
      @mountainsleddergarage8627  Před 2 lety

      There a few companies who can do it, although I'm not sure why you would want to instead of just getting the new cat clutch. I would first check with Indy Specialties. They are a high performance Polaris machine shop and were machining the the roller bearing cat clutch to put on a Polaris last year.
