  • Rank that recto is a series where I test the rectifier emulation in various modelers, or plugins and give you my opinion on how they stack up compared to a real dual rectifier.

Good tip on the QC recto, turn the master down to like 1 at max, and tweak the output volume.

For whatever reason when it comes to rectos there's something about just coming out of that oversized cab that makes all the difference. Probably all in the perception of the low end, also in the mix I think the head has a lot more high end content (sizzle). Like at the very top of the spectrum is a lot more noticeable.

Sick guitar! Does that have the Fishman's in it? I have a limited edition Solar A1.6 with their Soar Duncan's in it, with the Evertune bridge. I THINK I have enough other guitars with FR bridges, and as much as I love em - they are a pain it the arse! I do want a Solar V, so I'll juggle that in my head till I decide! Cool vid. I thought the quad cortex was really going to be a game changer but every video is just more confirmation that it's behind the competition. The amp match feature is it's only saving grace besides the cool touch screen in my opinion. I've yet to hear a video that is impressive. Maybe after the next iteration it will be able to make a bountiful leap over the existing competition.

The QC does quite well here, leaning a bit darker, though I suspect a capture of the Recto would be even closer.

In order not to be so negative, I can say that comparing my Peavey 6505 Mini Head to QC's version I can tell no difference (as a badroom guitarist). The difference is in EQ knobs, they react differently, which is neither good nor a bad thing at all. The most noticeable difference is in gain knob, in the real Peavey you get high gain tone much faster, at like 2-2.5 you already get a good clear high gain, while on QC you get the same ammount of gain at aproximately 5-6, which I personally find more convenient as you can boost it much easier.
