You were right by my house at the end. Nope, not going anywhere. Thanks for the tour and stay safe.

9th and 9th has always been the first place in town to flood for the past hundred years (the time frame may or may not be hyperbole -- I'm not that old yet). A few years back, the city did a massive amount of roadwork on that intersection and in those older parts of town. I assumed that they were addressing that problem. Guess not.
Got a good chuckle at 7:38. I'll bet this excursion was a good teaching tool for you. ;)
When you turned off of 29th onto 16th ("Gonna cut through this way. I’m not going through that $h*t." 10:03), I was yelling at my screen, "No! No! No!" As a newcomer, you couldn't have known that it just loops around to 17th and empties you right back onto 29th. I see you made it up to 20th and then pulled into that drive to be on higher ground. I don't know where you live, but I did find myself wondering how and when you ended up getting home.
Sometimes it pays not to be too curious. Ask any old timer in TC how many people were killed because of their curiosity on April 16, 1947.
Thanks for posting this. It was interesting, and I found myself feeling for you when I could tell you were frustrated. I hope your vehicle didn't suffer any damage.

I noticed you said you've only lived here 6 months to a year. I've been in Texas City since 2009 & seen my share of flooding like in town but only one other time have I seen it this bad, one summer a few years ago & that was only 7 inches of rain. This by my rain gauge is at 12.5 inches so far. I live off Palmer & 31st street. Also the TX City ER Mgmt did say it was the worst flooding though since 1995.

YEET 1 had to be a foot and a half deep and even deeper in some spots later on in the evening. Looks like we'll get a bit of a break tonight so hopefully it will drain off some. stay safe out there!
