I don't care what the correct things were on signs cards newspaper advertisements etc Mr. Magoo read it and made it say what he wanted it to say... Too funny. No matter who tried to mess up Mr. Magoo or whatever dangers he faced he ALWAYS comes out on top in all situations.
Retirment is a whole new temperament. No rush it's time to be calm and cool. With fishing gear it's time to experiment Mr. McGoo times happen your old school Accidents happen with embarrassment.
These were the good old days when you could watch cartoons as a kid and your parents also watched. There were subtle jokes in there that the parents would crack up at. Today’s cartoons are just mindlessly dumb!😳
I mean kids movies and TV shows have always infamously joked about and hid references to adult humor, even sexual-themed humor. Watch some Ren and stimpy, early SpongeBob, fairly odd parents, ah! Real monsters, etc. Good kids shows are always hiding adult humor. Pixar, DreamWorks, and Fox kids movies are in the same boat

I'd think anyone that was anti-war would cheer on Quincy Magoo here! Even laughter can be an effective weapon. FANTASTIC script for the late Jim Backus....Just Classic!
I don't think the US army were ready for Mr Magoo he so blind that he doesn't know where clothes shop is and walked into a army enrolment !!!! I'm from Australia love mr Magoo cartoons!!!!!
Now, I'm not saying this is impossible (since it aired 67 years ago...almost three quarters of a decade ago holy shit) but are you really around his age?
I strongly disagree. I’m a 30 years old man, so I also grew up with these shorts, but there is no arguing that this is just simple slapstick humour with some smart lines here and there just for the sake of keeping the show “clever”. Modern non-anime cartoons (Adventure Time, Ducktales 2017, My Little Pony) are way deeper and funnier than these little shorts and, unlike these old Hanna-Barbera shorts, actually try to at least give kids some kind of message. These shorts certainly paved the way for modern animation, but you can’t possibly compare them to modern cartoons: that’s just the same as comparing Super Mario Bros to Super Mario Odissey and pretending the former to have the best plot. Nostalgia goggles can be devastating, so watch out!
nah, this hypersensitive generation will likely call this guy an offensive stereotype (towards the blind and astigmatic folks) to ever find it funny for what it was as a satire. plus the guy above me just lost a bit of credibility for mentioning freakin MLP in the same sentence as one of the 'superior' modern cartoons. Ha!
Mr. Magoo sure liked his Thompson Assault Gun with a 20 rd magazine. But, he got off more than 20 rds, more like 200 rds. And he referenced to "bell" bottom pants as the old classic style. I thought that term began in the 1970s. Boy, I was wrong.
Mr Magoo is quite a fascinating concept.......a visually empared old man just trying to live his life but gets into all sorts of situations
I don't care what the correct things were on signs cards newspaper advertisements etc Mr. Magoo read it and made it say what he wanted it to say... Too funny. No matter who tried to mess up Mr. Magoo or whatever dangers he faced he ALWAYS comes out on top in all situations.

I still get a kick out of these old cartoons, even as a legally blind man myself who's 4F - unfit for military service.

"The last refuge for men of good taste." Beautiful.
Man, that traffic light gives convenient directions! I loved this.
The good old days when cartoons made us laugh and entertained us. Mr. Magoo was to cartoons what Charlie Chaplin was to silent movie comedy classics.
Mr Magoo is hilarious!
It was funnier when I wasn't his age!
Now, I'm not saying this is impossible (since it aired 67 years ago...almost three quarters of a decade ago holy shit) but are you really around his age?
Almost 3/4 of a century. A decade is only 10 years.
We can't go wrong with a man like Quincey Magoo in the Army, off eyes and all, he does know what he's doing.
Mr magoo kicks Ass!! super funny

At 3:28, as Magoo is holding the ticking grenade:
"The ladies will really get a BANG out of it, yes!"

The director and both animators were all veterans of the Walt Disney animation plant.

Thurston Howell, III
Ole Thurston Howell 😄😄
Notice how virtually no shows or cartoons today deal with any thing related to real life? Can't have people thinking about the outside world too much.
So true what a sad commentary of today's world
