Ah, I love Portia and I love this interview, but I wish they didn't get so much into the numbers. I don't need to know that Portia weighs "a healthy 130 pounds." I just need to know that she's healthy.
I read her book, actually after her battle with anorexia she met another woman first, a woman named Francesca, that was her first relationship and it was a very loving one. I suffered from anorexia aged 17 and I greatly admire Portia for writing her book, she's amazing, I finished reading last night, and couldn't put it down. Kudos to her

It's so sad that such a beautiful young woman thought that she had to look a certain way just to please other people. It's really sad that we humans judge each other and treat each other like shit. I really wish that we humans can someday get past all this crap and start treating each other the way we should. We should treat each other as equals. Portia is such a beautiful young woman. I really wish her and Ellen nothing but the best .
I have to say THANK YOU THANKYOU THANK YOU!!!! Trying to find the words to explain how INCREDABLE this beautiful woman is and how she just gave me strength just when i needed it!! Bless her and her wonderful other half!!!!!!!!!!!
i love portia, but i don't appreciate how the interviewer made it sound like all it takes to recover from an eating disorder is someone who "loves you for who you are." i have struggled with anorexia off and on for the last ten years, and i have had plenty of loving people in my life. love is a part of it, but basically it's just way more complicated than that, and so it's annoying when the wrong messages are sent out to the public. i am in recovery now though and working hard to change.
I don't think it's necessarily the wrong message; it's what worked for her. And of course what worked for her won't necessarily work for everyone. For me, it's more about learning to love and be good to myself. Wish you luck on your journey.
I had Anorexia and Bulimia. It's hard to be comfortable in your own skin. I'm glad I am over it and I'm glad she is too. No one should suffer like we have. It's like Hell in your own head. You go lady!!
AWE!!! a little like my sister and her wife! My sisters wife just got very little selfasteem because she was a little overweight, so she cut herself and was really close at commiting suicide. But then they got together, and have been a perfect couple ever since :D
Absolutely right. At her height, 130 is on the very low end of healthy and quite difficult for the average woman to maintain. Giving the number will only be harmful to most people. I think this is quite irresponsible of a respected media outlet who should know better by now. It's not like these things aren't discussed frequently these days.
i read this book in 1 day and loved it just reader be warned it is likely to be triggering if you have dealt or are dealing with issues of eating disorder and repressed sexuality i had panic attacks for months after reading it

I love her. Portia's looks are amazing but I love that the moral of her story ends up being that looks don't matter after all.
But yet she has somehow destroyed her face with surgery of some sort. She looks so different now. Which is a shame because she was perfect.
