27:29 it looks like he’s wearing the armor, at least.

Yeah, but I kinda wish he wore the uniform at least, even without the makeup. I explained it in the outro of this video; I liked how in the cartoon the Kyoshi Warriors' uniform signified something.

2:26 Nick owns the rights to Airbender. I doubt they had much input into the show. Nickelodeon is mentioned mainly because Netflix had to buy the rights from them to produce a live action series. I believe that’s is what they mean. If I’m wrong, I welcome the correction.

I loved this deviation with kyoshi instead of roku tbh. Its like watching a slightly different alternate timeline of the original. Kyoshi was def done justice and i love it.

What made it work for me was the deviation made sense! So much better than an Unagi putting out the fire, or Kyoshi appearing to "defend" herself during a trial. Kyoshi only made one appearance in the ATLA cartoon in her Avatar State, so if they were gonna do it in the live action, they had better do it justice -- and they did!

"We never got to see Sokka in the Kyoshi Warriors' uniform"
Yes, we don't see him wearing the full get-up, but in the fight against Zhao, especially that shot lifted straight from the cartoon (love the side by side shot comparisons btw !), he's wearing their breastplates ! And I'm pretty sure in subsequent episodes we see him wearing it again. It's certainly different from the one we see him in in Wolf Cove.
I really love this Suki. I'm pretty sure they coded her as neurodivergent, which I appreciate endlessly. Some of her "odd traits" can be attributed to having grown up in an environment that was fully closed off, with the Gaang being the very first new people she's meeting probably ever. Though that does pose the question of how they can be great warriors if they've never actually met anyone from outside the island... But yeah, I don't think all of her "oddness" can be attributed to the isolation, and I'm pretty sure she's just neurodivergent and that's just how she functions. I'm very much looking forward to seeing more of her in S2, and seeing if they'll keep that up.
I really love most of the changes that were made here. Next two episodes are good examples of that. Looking forward to what you have to say about this Katara, though. You picked up about the fact she's somewhat bland here already.

And about the Elephant Koi : it totally makes sense to leave them out not only for time constraints, but also from a characterisation pov ; not to mention the whole sequence is very cartoonesque, it wouldn't have translated well into live-action. The characterisation bit, I think, is that it serves to show Aang's childishness and the way he wants to avoid responsibility this early on. Now, the live-action Aang is quite different, because he didn't flee in the first place. And that acceptation that he *is* the Avatar happens gradually, and certainly not before he first confronts his guilt in The Storm, which is mid-season. This Aang is childish in place, like how we saw him play with the kids here and splash around with Katara, and it's very welcome to have these reminders of his young age, but he also accepts his role as the Avatar much more quickly, and thus there was no need for the characterisation brought by the Koi fish bit.

Oh, just you wait! Katara had some defining moments in the cartoon where emotion played a huge role. Given that you've already seen the whole thing, you already know they did adapt those here and you'll know what I thought of them when my reactions come out. ;)
I appreciate the comments! Hope you enjoy the reactions!

I've heard mixed things about the Yuyu Hakusho live action. Kind of curious about that one! ATLA ended up having mixed reviews as well but I still enjoyed it.

I would recomend too watch the anime or read the manga first.
That live action moved at light speed, they tried to cram more then 40 episodes in 5 episodes.
The only good thing about it was the action, It was pretty aweson and blood pumping

@@DKduskThe action is what I've heard good things about! I saw parts of the anime as a kid when it was on TV, but never watched it religiously.
