- South Dakota Corn Silage Harvest
Video from August 2020 at a dairy farm near Canistota South Dakota as a custom silage harvester chops corn silage for the farm with their Krone Big X 850 self propelled forage harvester. Also in the video you will see several tractors pushing and packing the huge corn silage pile.
Mike has the best videos of corn silage harvest
Thanks,
Man, that Krone BigX is a beast!! Serious machine! Thanks Mike👍

Thanks Mike. I've missed seeing the green fields. This great video hit the spot.
That is a serious operation of chopping corn. GREAT drone footage as always in your video Thanks Mike
One doesn't see many farms with multiple brands of tractors working in a confined area. Neat to see the design differences. They were kept busy!
Mike, you will never have too many silage chopping videos on your channel. They are why I watch your stuff. That and riding sleds out here in the West.
Great Vlog, Mike, I love these Silage Videos, these big custom choppers make short work of a lot of acres, thanks for sharing
Great Video ,Keep them coming. I look Foward to this growing season as i cant wait to see you in the Versatile tractors trying them out this yr.
Krone: "Hey! Not this close! I don't wanna marry you!"
Peterbuilt: "Oh! Sorry!" 😉
Thanx a lot for this machine-packed-video! 😊👍🏻
That's a huge silage pile😉👍 great corn silage video👍😁
What I find amazing is that these choppers ALSO have rollers in them that crack the corn kernels! Can you imagine all that volume going thru a space small enough to crush the corn kernels⁉️
Hallo Mike das sind alles super Videos mach weiter so Grüße von Günter aus Deutschland 👌
Great video, it would be cool to visit this farm sometime because i think i only live about 140 miles away from there
Great video. I recognized some of those silage trailers were made not far from where I live in British Columbia, Canada. You should check out JBS’s website and look and the interesting farm equipment they manufacture.
The best job I ever had on a farm was shoveling/moving wheelbarrows of pig crap and moving them to a sprayer....20 bucks for every wheelbarrow that I moved. This was on a farm off Hone-Weir Rd in Mercer County, OH. I ended up staying on the farm because the work was so profitable, I slept in the hay loft....best paycheck I ever got as a kid.
You guys grow a lot and feed a lot !!👍👍👍
Awesome video! These guys really have their stuff together.
Fantastic video, great action, thanks Mike
Canistota!? I live just east of there in Sioux Falls. Welcome to SoDak Mike, hope you enjoy your stay!
Cool seeing those mean machines beating up on that silage. I can't decide if the truck change over is a scene of road rage or a NASCAR race move for the win!
Wow very impressive operation. Looks like a lot less waste with the truck pulling in like that.
Great Video Mike 👍
Nice video. We run a big x 1000 and class 980 and 990. 8600,9700 Deere.
dp forage harvest like this one use the auto steer to Ive only seen it in combines, swathers, tractor, and sprayers
I like my Mike less videos.
Yeah krone makes a big x 1180 model
Great video those truck drivers are good
That looked like a massive pile of “cow chow”. How many acres did they cover.
we ought to invite you to our custom chopping in Veblen, South Dakota next fall.
Do you chop for Riverview?
@@user-zu2bw7ig5v not riverview, but many dairies around it.
I got that crew on video a couple years ago haha
Nothing guite like watching one these beasts eat.
Good work bro
It would be interesting to see how they use the silage from that huge pile and see how much is getting spoiled..if any when they open the cover.
Almost is spoiled as once they start feeding out of it they continue until it's gone. So basically none is spoiled or wasted
Nice Job
I’m surprised they don’t start filling from the front of the trailer to the back that way you have weight on your drives and get better traction in the mud.
The engine manufacturer is not called man like the opposite of woman but MAN and this is an abbreviation for Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg machinery factory augsburg nuremberg
Fantastico!!!!!
I think I saw the front of that head in Jurassic Park!
I was thinking it looked like the teeth on the "Langoliers".
Vero nice
Goodness what a farm. How many cow dairy is this??
Approximately 3,000
👍👍
Driver needs to learn to get his drives loaded first. Rookie move.
In wet fields they do. Last year was really dry no worries
15:23 obligatory overshoot of silage - good for comment section lol
And the one missed stalk at the same timestamp 😱😱😱
