To me, it seems like although the former may say they do it for themselves, really at the end of the day, most if not all plastic surgery is done to fit in with the people around you/your surroundings, and to say otherwise is probably a lie

Her father was the head pastor of the church and was equally as amazing. I know there is a stigma around church people being very judgmental, especially the people who lead, like the pastors, but they just weren’t like that. I remember there would be some people angry at church at some of the opinions that the pastor held that didn’t align with the bigotry that so many people would cling to. As an Asian, I can actually say a lot of Asians actually choose to look more western, whether consciously or unconsciously...I don't think most of them want to admit that. I personally have considered the jaw shaving surgery and If I hadn't been born with double eyelids already, I probably would have wanted that done. The Asian-american girl probably wasn't lying but she definitely was trying to follow both western and eastern beauty standards, I agree how the question 'so are you Asians trying to look more white' can be seen as rude

As a south East Asian who looks kinda East Asian I’m confused as to why people say Asians wanna look western or white . Maybe some do . But Kelly looks super Asian still .
And Asians come in diverse looks . Some of my friends have more defined and strong jawlines and some of us have slim oval jawlines (both males and females ). I have strong jawline and cheekbones as a female and I love it . I had uneven eyes one monolid and one double . I did get double eyelid surgery to match it but never once thought oh to fit in with Eurocentric beauty standards . And if anyone asks why didn’t I make my other eye a monolid instead it’s because I don’t think it will suit my strong cheekbones and jawlines . I actually prefer the monolids and slim oval face shape more

Idk about other Asians as beauty standards differ across the continent but from what I’ve seen of Koreans, they get surgeries to look like Korean celebrity women like Kim Tae Hee or BP Jisoo , and these women do not look western at all and will not be mistaken as white women in western countries. I think those are some of the things that need to be considered before Asian people such as yourself try to go after those saying that they think this stereotype is untrue. I think you are contributing to people whitewashing ethnic features; such as the double Eyelids (epicanthic folds) that Asians have, that are very different that double eyelids that white people have. I’m a korean American with an oval face, eyes with double eyelids, tall nose, pale skin , and have inherited these features from the generations of Koreans before me and never have I been mistaken to be a white woman. I find that very ironic as my features on my ethnic face are so called stereotyped “white features

I use to be unhappy about certain facial features about myself. I use to wear makeup and thought it made everything better, but, it just made that unhappy feeling worse because I constantly needed to cover it the truth and makeup myself to a point where I felt is appropriate for the public.
In the Covid19 pandemic outbreak we were forced to wear facial masks. During this time I later on preferred to not wear any. As time went by I realized that there is nothing wrong and that the Idea of changing myself to look a certain acceptable way comes from outside myself rather than in and that my unhappiness was a weakness the world's beauty trends fed off, and instead of making me feel better about myself it made me think that I will only feel better once I got an "easy" fix done, which is false.
I feel like many people feel this way is the out route because many advertise it that way and the beauty industry actually wants it this way.
I am happy with my natural look. It took me to accept me for who I am and what Uniqueness I have. I don't want to be a copy of another, which many of those getting these surgeries not actually get. Once your happiness become worse about yourself you will be pulled towards such places and you will get your fix. I suggest many of you who are currently unhappy about yourself, find the mental capacity amd ability to accept it. No plastic will ever romve the real you. That's why one surgery never feels enough because it became easy to cover up your lie but actually you're lying to yourself mostly.
Positive confidence comes from the mental ability to find yourself and BUILD on what you have. Don't fix yourself because others say you can and that you need one, cause you don't.

I had a reduction the day before my 22nd birthday and it was a rough recovery but I'm so glad i did it because it slowed the deterioration of my spine and improved my posture. I wouldn't choose to undergo any more surgery though, unless its medically necessary, because i found the whole process really traumatizing.

Great group of people. Kudos to them for doing something that made them feel better about themselves. Only thing is I wish they listed all the surgeries they got. Some had a higher number of surgeries but only mentioned some of them. Also filler/kybella/botox are not surgeries. They are non invasive cosmetic procedures.

    • @Beebzinthehouse

Those are surgeries, not plastic surgeries. Plastic surgeries are when someone modifies your body, out of the natural, to change something. Like the lady with the huge boobs who doesn't look normal. Plastic surgery can be for medical reasons, for example, someone who broke their nose and is crooked.
