- Some have said that Chamath Palihapitiya, CEO of Social Capital, will "change your opinion on everything," often in a style that is both controversial and provocative but also brilliant. Also recently appointed chairman of Richard Branson's space-age venture Virgin Galactic, Chamath takes the stage with Brad Gerstner, founder and CEO of Altimeter Capital, in this exclusive one-on-one session.

When Chamath speaks, everyone should stop and listen. You always learn something!
If you are watching this video... you have a different mindset than 99% of the population. Keep going and pushing cause you’re a different breed!
I thought I was alone and it's nice to know that I am not. This man is literally thinking everything I've known since studying our economy how it works, taxes / how that works, investments/stocks, business, life, history, and observing other countries as I speak and comprehend 6 different languages. Nobody in this world can realize their full potential and it's sad how they are lost and guided by complete and utter selfish billionaires/government and those dinosaurs will be extinct pushing forward.
Okay!!! I needed that comment. Appreciated.
if youtoube recommended this to me... do I still belong to the chosen ones?
@@spawndwalk good question, this is what Chamath would probably say...lol
As german im it makes me hopeful to see this kind of spirit in america.
Why do I see this man being so frequently disrespected. He’s brilliant
Agreed. Man with a lot of wisdom.
Not afraid to speak his mind, and not afraid to be wrong...people don’t like that as it highlights their own inadequacies or unspoken, un-acted-upon desires.
He frequently makes fun of Trump, which unleashes the MAGA hordes
He speaks the truth. And the truth pisses a lot of people off.
@@tdreamgmail Agreed! And....his truth scares the shit out of the people who realize their hegemony is dependent on a continued societal ignorance.
Chamath was part of the Winamp team. Too cool!
Good ol' Winamp
Oh man, WinAmp was my goto mp3 player. Windows Media sucked back then too!
I still remember that lama...
@@milindshastri3020 still use winamp to this day. don't fix what isnt broken approach with me
@@jkk20 that's awesome, I remember it made my box speakers come alive

One of the great minds of our generation.
Imagine having him has a president wow
Imagine if the bottom 78% of Americans living paycheck by paycheck were to understand what he was saying.
Unfortunately it’s impossible :(
We will be thrilled to have him back in Canada as our Prime Minister.
We need him back in Srilanka I know he will never do but.
@@Europe58 i think no need we know how some hypocritic sri lankan called him as he is professionalrd casino
Because of that he is a billnior to a video,it was video in about him,a guy talked in sinhala.
Amazing content, 26k views is a reflection of society.
I know. It's such a breath of fresh air in comparison to trivial crap, like makeup and coffeezilla
This dude is definitely playing on a different level!! I love it!
Agustin Arellanes got that right brother!
Seriously.
haha yes
That was fantastic! I've only now discovered Chamath Palihapitiya and I'm in awe.
Chamath Palihapitya is as always a beacon of light/hope and he shines a light on how the world is the unvarnished truth, and our real world options IF USA wants to economically survive it needs to heed Chamath's every word!

29k watch this and millions watch Logan Paul lol.
that's for the best and that's way it should be.
So true, people will continue to mindlessly live.
I guess because world is full of idiots I guess. Only 29k watch is beyond me. Love this guy!!
How’s it going Luna? 🌚
My God! Why can’t we have this guy as president. So on point with everything he said.
We need shareholder and stakeholder interests aligned. Right now, it’s all about the shareholder.
The Candidate he is referring to is ANDREW YANG!
Yang with some issues goes too left, but something close to what he represents for sure
Close enough.
I Love listening to him, just pure honesty.
When I first saw this guy I thought, “This guy comes off as cocky and he’s probably full of shit.” But I have to say he really hit the nail on what’s happening in our world. Mad respect for him.
Yo I'm watching right now too and thought the same thing lol
Man I love this guy!! Wish a bit more discussion on bringing more compassion in this world. But love the content.

Love the home building comparison. There needs to be a shakeup in home building technology! Legit 3D printing! Super high quality home building at a 10th the cost. In much less time.
you missed his point. They built the empire state building in 18 months without all that. It's not about technology -- it's about regulation and bureaucracy.
@@MattOehrlein Thanks, enlightening
There is a co. That's doing that out of Austin Texas called, Icon. Its badass give it a look.
ARC investments said 3D printing is super under rated. (They predicted Tesla usurping the market.) You maybe onto something!
@@shencastro340 my prediction: the next Silicon Valley is Austin. Any company in a major space like Machine learning, 3D printing, electrification, drones, climate change etc. Will be worth looking to invest in! If good leadership and people. And I’m betting because of the hype that machine learning and AI get, 3d printing, drones, smaller companies that help electrification (in mining, etc.) will be where the money lies and the big winners too but that’s slight gambling.
I enjoyed listing to Chamath Clear thinking and well spoken.
What a sucker punch! Virgin Galactic.....One word: LONG.
absolutely brilliant conversations!
It's always refreshing to hear him
I had to rewatch this gem after that horrendous cnbc squawkbox.
Thanks
Chamath thank you for sharing knowledge
What an interview... blown away.
Love it!!
Damn! This guy is a legend
Cool ... exceptionally personally honest
People forget this guy is a top poker player, so take into account that he understands how he is perceived extremely well and can manipulate that.
Such an articulate strategist. Worth revisiting multiple times.

I literally told myself the other day, this man is replacing Joe Rogan for me in my life. I almost did TRT after listening to Joe 😂 luckily I read a tempered response by a doctor on reddit about it!
Chamath is just brilliant. One of our top minds
3:30 "Doing Nothing." Mike drop right there, ah ha moment, call it what you will, doing nothing is highly underestimated. But of course woke people, highly spiritual, enlighten ones already knew this.
I loved the lighting round
very candid and informative
When he started to talk about Google's growing stages I immediately thought about how they are trying to get into a multi billion dollar video game industry with Stadia
Stadia has been in the works since the inception of Google Fiber. They intended to roll out cloud gaming alongside the adoption of the new low-latency internet service but quickly ran into regulatory walls whenever they tried to expand in areas other than rural Kansas or Missouri. They've invested roughly $500M into Stadia and will likely never see a speck of that in returns. Imagine all of the novel ways that capital could've been allocated and the impact it'd have. This is a motivational driving force for me as an entrepreneur.
@@catlas_ Don't knock the gaming industry. It has seen year on year growth and is expected to be $250b industry by 2022. The amount of money games pull is smashing big box office intakes. For example GTA V pulled over $1b in just the first week of release. No movie has ever done that in the box office.
If Google can capture the cloud gaming market then they have the ability to squeeze every penny of revenue into their pockets. Don't forget they already own all the advertising platforms in their pockets such as CZcams and their search engine.
As a fan of Sony Playstation since the first one came out, I do not believe the Playstation brand will survive post PS5. Microsoft at least has cloud infrastructure but Sony is behind on this. XBOX can compete in the cloud with Stadia but Sony is going to have to rely on others to supply this.
The gaming industry is moving into the cloud and Google is trying to get a lead on everyone else.
@@momojarwan1641 trying is a good word. Nvidia is doing a decent job. PlayStation is producing tv shows etc. Which is interesting. Also names itself PlayStation “studios.” Warner brothers studios was a bunch of smaller studios that became a conglomerate (funny the parallel.) Xbox is forward thinking with game pass. I bet PlayStation will have a gambit, maybe it’s the tv shows.
How in the world did he get that vocabulary? Jesus he is good.

I went back and watched this just for the Uber dialog... Black Swan! Changes everything...rideshare in the toilet...uber eats terrible margin...autonomy... no longer a player... unless there is an unforeseen pivot all investments were for not... we assumed, as a society, we could be in close proximity...and we were wrong. Thank you global governments on all perspectives ... now the sheep are being herded
Beautiful Mind..Fantastic person..LLP Chamath..
I always appreciate a person who will speak their own mind...at least when this intelligent. I hope more people come around and quit falling for the crap being forced on us so we can better things for future beings here on this rock instead of ruining it even further.
Winamp - such memories.
Kind of interesting to watch this in April 2020.. Chamath sounds like a profit

28:50 thank you for not beating around the bush, say it how it is.
Very intelligent and absolute correct opinion of uber. Uber will become less profitable as lyft and other company's ensure there place among them based on pricing and paying driving it lower and making it unprofitable
spacetime dilation Google’s Waymo will trounce them both. Removing the driver is the holy grail of that racket and Google is in the process of claiming it, having just launched the Waymo retail app in its test city, Phoenix.
Uber already loses money while not paying drivers that well, so they can’t even pull the lever on their most expensive cost, let alone fend off competition with it.
Ultimately, Google’s sophisticated self-driving software should prove to be far more valuable than Uber’s current network. Car rides are a commodity and customers are loyal to nothing and no one above price. Self-driven rides at a fraction of the cost from Google will be the end of Uber and Lyft.
An Ottawa man!
Chamath’s been reading Mariana Mazzucato
