⚡Here's what I wish I knew before driving for Amazon Flex: czcams.com/video/O1dnwu04KPE/video.html&t
Regarding sorting: I often work 5 hour blocks. I rarely have so many large packages that I even have to use my trunk. When I do, the last 10 or so go in there.
You can scan your packages in the Itinerary tab and it will show you what stop that package will be. So I literally just sort the first 10 in my passenger seat, the next 10 in the floorboard up front, so on and so forth in the back seat.
Often times my stops will take me to places that it is not safe or easy to get out of the vehicle to sort packages. It is much safer and quicker to do it at pickup. That way I'm not handling packages more than needed.
Great info thanks! I needed to know about this.
I made 141 in just 30 minutes thanks god they only gave me 3 packages to deliver
Hey Mike thanks so much for doing these latest videos on flex!! I really enjoy your take on it and all of your analysis! It definitely has its pros and cons but like all gigs I believe it is entirely based on how you use these apps (full-time vs just making some extra spending money) and it’s nice to see your recent poll trying to figure out that exact thing. I would like to see a video using that data to compare different strategies on each of these apps based on the different ways people are using them!
You added some great insights Mike, I appreciate the review 🙏🏻
So cool Mike did a review on your video!
Yes it is!
here in Nashville you have to walk in the Sub-Same Day facilities and the carts are brought to you at Logistics facilities. Also, here in Middle TN, 14 packages for a 2 or 3 hour block usually mean a lot of miles.
Procedures are different for Sub-Same Day vs Logistics (DSP) facilities. The SSD you go into the warehouse, check in and get your route. Routes can be 1.5 to 5 hour duration. The best way is number the stops.
Sure is that's what I do its much easier just grab and go.
Here in Indianapolis there are multiple locations with different operating procedures. Some are warehouses for the Van drivers, but if they have packages that still need to go out at the end of the day (say a driver called off, etc.) they offer those blocks to Flex Drivers. At those facilities they do not have flex drivers on site at the same time as the vans as it is almost like air-traffic control when the vans are there lined up. At those locations, they do bring the carts to you.
The one I normally go to, you park in a typical parking lot, go in and find your designated cart, in what is basically an indoor parking lot for carts.
One other location I have gone to actually has you pull into the warehouse and the cart is rolled over to you. This is especially nice on bad weather days, but can be frustrating as you are trapped in line until the cars ahead of you are leaving. I hope this helped. :)
Thanks for the video, very informative. Do the blocks available appear on the app, on the same day or a day before?
I only like taking fresh or whole food blocks. They’re less than 10 drop offs compared to like 40-50 with warehouse blocks. The only thing is that it’s so hard to get fresh and whole food block. I usually get like 2-3 per week. 30+ an hr with these
I usually go to the sub same day in Durham, NC and you have to go inside the warehouse to get your cart!
You can scan them & write the number on the package as you put them in your car. The app has this feature.
Yes, it only takes 10 to 15 minutes to scan by stop. So far in 6 month I only had 1 block take the whole alloted time.
@@victormartinez775 I've only had 1 block I couldn't fully complete because it took me to Downtown San Diego on St. Patty's Night 😡
here at my location in Raleigh, NC (Idk if could depend on the facility you pick up from) but the main one I work we have to go in to pick up the deliveries. For her to get $72 in 2 hours that for me is usually a 4hr shift with at least 40 some odd orders and it usually takes the entire shift or a slight bit less to complete the stops like wow! And most 4hr shifts I took I STILL had to go an hour out to make those deliveries in an entire different city
My very first shift was two days ago, $112 an hour from when the block started, I was literally away from my house a grand total of 3.5 hours. I'm 15 miles from the warehouse. Miles per dollar isn't great for where I am because I'm in a smaller market, but that one was overall good. Roughly $21 an hour after gas and expected taxes. There are benefits to a smaller market. They let us pick our route if we show up early which is super nice.
I can sometimes do that here in Baltimore but our market is pretty big.
Surely you meant $112 for the whole shift? Not $112/hr?
Yes, my fault on the typo!@@CD-rt8wj
In Kernersville, NC, I had to go inside the warehouse and the workers direct you once check in. Then, the workers bring the rack with the packages.
hi mike, I saw your video a couple of months ago about you rented a tesla. so I'm about to rent it as well. so does the tesla rent from uber hertz program included (LDW) or loss and damage waiver to the car? and also do you have to drive 50 trips in a week?
The "What?!" after she stated having only 14 packages to delivery had me lol'ing 😄
Love the channel, great information, and motivation Mike. Thank you for everything you do for us and new drivers to the industry. 🙏
I love her channel.
My locations in Michigan are different. Like this one is video for example the workers are not about to bring those karts to cars. Now another station is set different because it’s like a drive-in movie style so yes the karts will be coming up to you because the door is right next to you. Now the other station is like a drive through restaurant which is inside the building. So yes the karts are right there.
I started yesterday. I worked for a D.S.P before doing flex . I love flex so much better lol we have our packages labeled 1 of 1 1 of 2 1 of 3 very easy clap job
In Wichita we pull into the warehouse and they put the rack behind your vehicle. Once everyone is in, then you load. No one leaves until everyone is done.
Amazon flex pays at best 20.00 an hour most are about 18.00.... MAybe other markets are better but for me It's not worth driving south of the skyway and risk empty miles going back home. South of the bridge is often a no mans death pit of no trips going back.
That looks like a Sub Same Day Block. It’s not a tone of packages. Mostly envelops and small packages. But they do send you further away from the warehouse.
I live in L.A. I usually pick up in Gardena, which is 10 miles from my house. I get anywhere from 27 to 40 packages. So I make $80 to $120, depending what I accept. But I usually never finish. Some areas I deliver are gated communities or downtown L.A. which I hate going there. And to drive back. Sometimes it may not be worth it. Then I do Uber eats. I try and make $150 a day. But it’s working morning to night with a few hours of no work in between. Uber Eats is a bit slow.
I love her. So real.
Thanks ❤
Hello ! Is there any requirement to have a new car? or can i drive on amazon flex with any year car? Thanks!
I have delivered 5,000 packages for the Amazon Flex here in Los Angeles. It is not a fun experience at all, the base pay is about $21.5 in LA, unless there is a surge. Blocks take definitely longer than scheduled hours because of traffic, gaining access and delivery into apt buildings and etc. Also going to stations will take you at least 3-45 minutes. WholeFoods, and even Amazon Fresh are better, usually 5 to 8 stops and a $45 base + tips for a 2 hours block. Amazon Flex is the worse side hustle for sure.
Neither was wearing the Amazon vest you said in a previous post the Amazon workers will tell you to put on.
Here in Virginia they bring you the cart p.s. love your channel
@4:00 the phone shows that its under Joshua's name. So everything said after about how only the person who is signed in must drop off the package is indeed the rule, but let's be honest, any couple doing this sees this as a suggestion 😂
That's exactly how it's been for me but the dollar per mile is horrible. They have throw me far away from the warehouse and the pay per hour used to be 30 plus a hour now its been down to 19.00 which I won't take because I'll go negative very fast.
The one we go in at one of Salt Lake City location. We are about to get one in Idaho Falls we are so excited we won’t have to drive SLC
I’ve been trying to start for 5 months in SLC but I’ve been on the waitlist and haven’t gotten accepted. What did you do?
What tracking app is she using at the end that lists all her apps? Do we know? Thanks for this!
Gridewise ❤
But it said hello Joshua so she should be the one driving?
I signed up for HeronJ LLC amazon flex for edgewood md and they say they provide the truck n paid by hour. Well see I'm process pending background exc but I had no clue how flex related dashing so here I am
Like, I got a full time job and I’m doing flex to pay a few credit cards and I’m out 😅
There are tons of shifts in Orange County California, the problem is, everyone is accepting base pay, there are rarely ever boosted pay for block’s because everybody is taking base pay! Stop taking base pay!! We drivers have more power than you think.!!!
Oh so the same problem as the trucking industry everybody takes cheap freight
Because drivers are not united, if everyone don't accept the BS base rates, Amazon would have to increase the rates
Second day on Amazon Flex.
Just picked up my delivery: a 4:30 Hrs Block.
2 envelopes: 26 miles to same location: $115 for a 40 minute job 😁🤣🤣🤣🤣
My first time ever doing Flex I made $220 in 3.5 hrs. This was in Hollister, CA
I’ve had good days on Tuesdays doing food deliveries and I’ve had bad days on Tuesdays doing food deliveries.
Well, $76 for 2 hours sounds great but you also gotta keep in mind, she's driving a Ram 1500 so she's probably burned through 3 gallons of gas while driving those 40 miles. A conservative estimate is $11 for gas and that doesn't consider wesr and tear on the truck too which might be worth another $5. Now your $76 is down to about $60. Still that's not horrible, but not quite $76 either.
You had it backwards you were saying why wasn't he helping. Because she was the one I activated but when it showed the phone at the beginning it said Joshua so apparently he's the one activated on the platform not her. So if the passenger is not supposed to help they did it completely backwards with her doing all the work and him just driving when his name was on the phone
At 5:10 you say he is not helping because he didn't want to break the rules but the account was actually in his name, not hers. It showed the name Joshua when she showed how many packages they were going to deliver.
blue sky thumbnail!
what app is she using to see the list of gig work with $ and miles for all of them?
Gridwise ❤
@@SaraElizabethYT thank you!
I have to comment again so to anyone new… the less you get the longer the drive to your first stop. Unless you get one package which is them blessing you lol.
I made 56.50 on my first shift today Yayy
How do you get all the apps in one spot to see how much you made for each app??
The screenshot I showed at the end with all my gig apps is on Gridwise
You are only as good and your last delivery/block. I scan and number every package; bags and envelopes in the front seat, boxes in the back seat. Last delivery loaded first. I take the time up front to organize packages, it's is a little time consuming up front, (20 minutes at station from start to pulling out) I can make up the time on the road. Being efficient is about rhythm and being organized, I can pull up to the stop look at the package next to me if the number on the package is the stop I am at I just grab and go. If I have numbered and loaded the packages correctly I do not have to sort through the packages or read the label at every stop. Usually finish blocks early. Remember you are visiting people take them stuff and delivering smiles.
They bring them out
I LOVE HER A LOT
Thank you!
Flex doesn't pay enough. 4 hours for 72 hours doesn't make sense to me
It’s never that low in Seattle. That depends on market. Most routes here were $150 or more for a 5 hour block but then everyone got bots and messed ish up. Now a 5 hour block is $120. I finish in 2.5 to 3 hours most days. I’ve never stayed the full block time but I also get to biznesssss when delivering. I don’t wanna talk I don’t care what you did last night when I’m at the station leave me alone so I can organize and get done. I also don’t wait on no doors to open. I keep it pushing and my rating is still fantastic. Time is money.
Kansas City you go get the rack
I made $128 to deliver one package 📦
Nice , how far of a drive was it from the warehouse ?
@@kennykrempa7100 it was a lucky timing like in monopoly when you hit chance. 22 miles oroland california to Chico california. They sent more oferrs then there was blocks. So they gave me one package.
Delaware we go in
This is ridiculous. Amazon hired her not him. She needs to leave him at home. He’s definitely assisting. He needs to go through the application process as well
40 miles isn’t bad for 76
Technically your spouse/kid/dog/anyone else in your car, can NOT deliver or drive.
Some warehouses you scan a QR code for your route and a QR code for your packages and the packages are already numbered with stickers. Other warehouses you have to sort packages yourself. Top right QR code is your route code. Top Barcode is your package stop. And the bottom QR codes is for dropping off packages. There is a button on the Top Right of your itinerary for scanning the QR codes. Numbering and Sorting your packages before stating will defiantly save you time.
Blocks in my area are really hard to get. Unless you want to do a 3am shift or work until 10pm. However, Flex JUST started to introduce CAPTCHA for accepting blocks since so many people use bots to grab blocks. Only time there is a surge price on blocks is if the weather sucks. There are also almost 10 warehouses, but only 1 active warehouse. Really sucks to get a block and have to drive 30 miles just to get to the warehouse and then your drop offs are 30 miles away near another warehouse. Just send me to the other warehouse.
But it said HI Joshua! Unless her name is Joshua then she is not the one that should be doing the work.... she should be the one that cannot do anything...
Stop it, just stop it lol it’s not that serious.
Flex destroys vehicles! Very often they send you 45 minutes away and on beat up mud/dirt/gravel roads. Tons of miles and heavy wear and tear. Add in the safety risks of accidents, people, and DOGS... it just isn't worth it.
As a bald pretty big black dude. My favorite drop offs used to be the boujeee gated communities and buildings. I live in LA so I’ve dropped off to famous people., super rich and broke all alike.
Rich folks in nice neighborhoods that are not gated > rich people hiding behind a gated community.
lol, what does bald, black or big have to do with anything? lol
but i think i know what you mean. It's fumy how uncomfortable people within gated communities get when someone who doesn't look like them and may not belong there.,.. is there.
@@christophtrispec3083 Unfortunately in those areas a lot. I just always want to throw up a little when I have to go in a gated community. The idea of feeling so damn important and/or afraid that you have to hide like that disgusts me. I get it if you're someone super famous and/or targeted like a kingpins wife or somethin' or possibly like a criminal lawyer...y'know what, I take it back there are actually quite a few reasons someone would want to live in a gated community, especially in this city.
@@Kreamycheese lol. (Fist Bump)
