- The second major update for Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure will launch on Tuesday, February 27. With this update we're getting a new zone, legendary relics, the new legendary obsidian armor, new weapon proficiencies, and so much more!
This also means great opportunities to make some quick gold. Chances are people will be rushing the Trading Post for materials required for any of the new legendary items, and new skins for their new weapons. Certain crafting materials, such as gifts of bones, fangs, dust, etc have been in high demand ever since we got the new expansion. This won't change anytime soon, as we'll need more for the final achievement to be able to buy the Obsidian Armor precursor pieces. We'll most likely see another squeeze on the supply of Globs of Ectoplasm, which are needed for Kryptis Motivations, a lot of the new armors, achievements, skin unlocks, and so much more.
In this video I'll go over some ways you can farm these items as efficiently as possible, so that you can benefit from the initial rush on the markets. Once things have settled down, you'll have enough gold in your wallet to unlock everything without any effort!
With all of this excitement, the Wizard's Vault refresh might be easy to forget about. Not only will we get new cosmetic rewards, such as a new chair and glider, but a lot of the limited items will refresh. If we see another Legendary Start Kit, some of the Generation 1 Legendary prices might take another hit. Conversely, we'll see an influx of Mystic Coins from players wishing to cash in early so they can spend their gold on other things.

Note that you'll need Volatile Magic Resonance, the 1st Crystal Champion Mastery, in order to get Volatile Magic from Karmic Retribution drops.

This is why I've stopped farming for the Obsidian armor for awhile, prices are going to climb so, I can just farm everything I need, just the clovers and items from the faction provisoners in SoTo.
This is also why I farm both VM, UM and if you're running a magic find boost from your guild hall, just increases how much you get while "farming" maps for mats. Both vm/um currency can be traded for different materials/currency in which can ultimately can be sold on the TP for gold. Easy gold by the way. Great video as always, cheers :)
Thank you! I'll pretty much be selling a lot of materials early on in the update as well, and postpone crafting until the middle-end part of it. It's paid off pretty well with the past update, so I'm kind of happy with this new release schedule :)

This is speculation, but if they add another leggy crafting kit it will likely contain materials for legendary weapons that correspond to the new weapons that are coming out. The last 2 boxes both corresponded to that (2 bolts- > because necro are getting 2 swords as new weapons, 2 quips-> guardian getting dual pistols + ele MH pistol, Meteorlogicus -> rev, bifrost -> warrior, moot -> ranger mace, predator -> mesmer) The new kit will probably have what's leftover (another moot for ranger dual mace, frostfang for thief, dreamer for engie)
I pretty much think the same thing will happen! I only have no idea what the 4th weapon will be, another Quip seems redundant (Guardian gets 2, Ele gets 1) as you're basically nothing with a 3rd Quip.
@@phandrelIts probably quip I think. Or it might only have 3, I think anet didn't really consider about the fact that ele shared the new weapon with guardian.
It would be damn funny if it was an underwater leggy as the 4th.

Whenever you do this, make sure not to upgrade blue luck. Instead, you can use a stack to upgrade lunar new year (rare) lanterns to their exotic versions and double dip on your profits with those.

Hi there! Jsut started playing Gw2 and I only ahve Core + HoT. What would u recommend me do to farm gold to buy Living world stuff? And gold farming wise, what is the best xpac to buy? (so I can buy the quality of life stuff in the store) Thanks!
That's a tough one to give a single "best" answer:
- For gold in Core Tyria you could join meta events for some quick rewards and farm the Silverwastes in between. There's also a lot of platinum nodes in Mt Maelstrom, Timberline Falls, Sparkfly Fen that will fetch you a decent amount of gold, as long as you don't mind gathering.
- In HoT make sure you do Octovine every time it's available (happens every 2h), and Matriarch in VB + Chakk Gerent in TD. Additionally, repeating all HoT Hero Points will get you a ton of unidentified gear.
As for what to buy:
- LWS 4 will probably offer you a ton of extra resources with Volatile Magic, extra stories, beetle and skyscale
- LWS 3 is great mainly for Bitterfrost, so I'd suggest that one after
- IBS is kinda great to have as well for Bjora Marches (Chests and Eternal Ice Farm), and Drizzlewood Coast + some of the strikes
If I had to choose, I think I would go IBS > LWS 4 > LWS 3, but it's really close between the first two.
IIRC you won't be able to buy the expansions with in-game currency, though.
Can I ask two things: 1) Can I still buy the legendary rune to get the relic today? 2) Is it worth to get the runecrafter salvage thingy while it is on a discount?
You should be able to. ArenaNet stated that if you unlock a rune before the update goes live (in a little over 24h), you will be eligible for the free Legendary Relic.
As for the runecrafter's, I use mine constantly, and it's been worth it for me. There's no free equivalent for this one, but it's best you consider it a quality of life item, as you'll need to salvage 100s of thousands of times to recoup the cost.
I would say that if you consistently salvage green gear, it is worth it IMHO.

one solid question, how do you gather node that fast?
Node gathering is a cast, basically. So it's affected by quickness or traits like warrior's dual wielding.
I was playing a somewhat try hard build in the video, but if you use a scrapper/chrono/specter/necro, you can have perma quickness with Relic of the Chronomancer.
do you have the build for the mechanic?
I was using a generic power mech build with all signets for extreme laziness :)
