  • Gathering Glyphs are probably one of the most underrated upgrades in Guild Wars 2, and have been since they were released. Right now, we have 18 different ones. Yet we always see the same 2 recommended!?
    That doesn't mean the other 16 are bad, some of them will only cost you a fraction of the more expensive ones and could potentially make you EVEN MORE gold... But no one talks about them, probably because they require extra knowledge.
    After watching this, you'll have a leg up on the competition and will be equipped with the right tools, even when prices and supply or demand changes!

    Thanks for pointing out Glyph of the Crucible. I have been telling people about it for years. When people mention to me that they would like to get VM glyphs but can not afford them, I often tell them to get crucible, and if they are doing enough gathering to make the VM glyphs worthwhile, the Crucible will help them quickly generate the gold for VMs.

Or this one gw2skills.net/editor/?PewAw6RlNwsYhsL2Jm6W3tSA-DSJYgRX/ZUhqIdpiHfAAQFA-e , which is featured in the video, but requires more effort. I plan on making a gathering build video for all classes, though.

    Glyph of industry's primary use, imo, is for wvw players so they can hit the nodes there after capturing an objective asap before the commander yolos off. That was the only reason I got those (a very long time ago) when I still gave a shit about that gamemode.
    Overload can be used on blooming passiflora for guaranteed extra passion flowers but....from my experience, bounty might be rng, but I usually end up with at least the same amount or more without needing the hassle to recharge the glyph.

    • @phandrel
      @phandrel  Před měsícem +1

      Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of overload, either. I understand why they can't reduce the strikes it takes to charge, but it does add to its clunkiness. As for Industry, I hadn't considered that yet. But maybe I should start using that one in WvW more, as I do tend to lose sight of the commander every now and then xD

    Switched to reaping on my secret garden farm char because i have a full one and got tired of the time it took me to go through all the nodes there...
    got volatile on parked char at a elder wood spot in orr and a few flax spot chars...
    I might switch to crucible to boost hard wood though... thx for that reminder

      The magic-warped bundles are kind of a favorite of mine, as they've awarded me quite a bit of clovers over the years as well. Your setup seems to be very considerate on how to get the most out of your glyphs.

  • @Archi-The-Baguette
    @Archi-The-Baguette Před měsícem +1

    i've been using the crucible glyph in addition to the alchemy glyph for some time now, by farming 150 ancient wood and orichalcum with alchemy, then get 150 platinum and hard wood with crucible, i could get a LOT of gold every day. If i had the motivation i would then do a regular iron and platinum route for even more profit or material to use in crafting.
    Then, if i REALLY had time, because it took a while and i am bored of it now, i would charge a glyph of Overload and collect flax seeds. A regular run without it would give me around 75 seeds, but with the glyph of overload, in 2 recharges, i could get around 150 seeds (every day), which can turn into TONS of gold. The big downside is that it takes a long time to charge and becomes boring really fast, this is why i stopped doing it.

    • @phandrel
      @phandrel  Před měsícem +2

      It is incredibly rewarding, but as you mentioned, you gotta want to do it as well. Can drain the fun out of the game if all you do is gather.

    We need frostbitten glyphs!
    I have a question, why do platinum and (mostly) hardwood sell at a significant steady price? It's been like that since last 3 years.

    • @phandrel
      @phandrel  Před měsícem +1

      I think (I'm speculating) it's a combination of multiple factors. The supply of platinum is less than 10% of the mithril supply, yet they're still needed for recipes such as xunlai and deldrimor ingots.
      There's provably also less players actively playing those maps. Most meta trains will see you gather some mithril and elder Wood on the side, but not that much platinum.
      I would also guess less players organically reach maps like Mt maelstrom, timberline, and bloodtide Coast. If you level a character by completing zones, you'll be 80 before you get to those. At that point, I assume a lot of people shift to expansion zones.
      Again, I'm speculating. There might be other factors I'm not thinking of right now.

      @@phandrel You are correct. It's the same reason all T4 mats are more expensive than the rest, not just limited to ore/wood (linen, rugged leather, T4 yellow mats etc)
      Not to mention rich iron can proc 2 per node unlike plat and there's nothing like the circle of trees in malchor/straits for most other logs. Fun fact though, soft wood was extremely expensive at one point during HoT because you needed 4 per plank.

  • @aricoseco

    • @phandrel
      @phandrel  Před měsícem +2

    • @aricoseco
      @aricoseco Před měsícem +1

      @@phandrel 24 with bounty is way better than I taught and remember tbh. Glyph of overload guarantee you 24 and the average I have over a year now is 28. Never had 36 but I do have 30+ every 3-4 days. Around 850 leafs monthly. My benchmark is 1 year old but with the crafting, I calculated back then it was 250g pure profit monthly for the home garden IF I buy ALL the seeds. My routine is : Hidden garden until 24 charges -> home -> activate the glyph -> gather 8 nodes in the garden -> gather everything else which lead you to have 12 charges again with a full home and activate the glyph for the last 4 nodes. But now that you told me bounty is 24 average, might worth running numbers again and see if it less time consuming.
