Your videos are like the most therapeutic thing on Earth. For every craft out there there is one person on CZcams who shows us "how it is done" at the master level.
Thank you, I’m humbled!
The centre of the walnut deviding in 2 halfs, just as the brains in creatures. You nailed the heart of the walnut man🙏🏼👌👍
Thanks, I should start calling them brain bowls!
The pewter inlay is very beautiful. I think it’s the best inlay yet.
Thank you very much!
I think the inlay in the top of the bowl adds another layer of contrast to the natural beauty of the timber ; I really love the finished product ; it’s spectacular .
Thank you very much!
Nice one jim . Brian erwin NZ
Like the Walnut Putter Inlay
Nice job.👍👍👍
Thinking about doing some woodturning when I retire.
I'm now a long haul trucker, I feed
the world. Have four years to go till then. I'm leaving a lot with your videos
👍👍👍😎
Awesome! Thanks for what you do, you guys have been critical during the pandemic! Jim
Probably one of the most beautiful bowls I've ever seen
Awesome thanks 🙏
Sure is, this is amazing
Agreed!
Awesome, the number 1 wood turner in Canada
Wow, thank you!
I find the tin inclusion really interesting, and I follow regularly your chanel and your comments although they are in English language, and I' m a French speaker. It's a good occasion for me to join English lessons to turning lessons ! That makes my old brain work as I play. 😉👍
Great, glad to hear it, thanks 🙏
Wow, that pewter contrasts super against the wood. Such a beautiful combo.
Thank you very much!
That bowl positively glowed with the finishing products. Also I loves that inlay. Simple and gorgeous.
Thanks 😊
From the second I saw this wood at the beginning ,I knew it was going to become something beautiful! The pewter goes awesome with the walnut.
It’s a good contrast, thanks
This is going to look awesome. The inlay will work really well. Beautiful
Thank you so much!
Mr Sprague, my second time to your channel, I'm impressed by your talent! But more importantly that you take the time to answer everyone, even if only with a thank you. We don't see many true gentlemen left anymore, we can learn from you in more ways than your talent! More important now that ever! Mahalo, Jordan
Awesome thanks, I try too as long as the comments are in English. Jim
I think it turn out very nice. I am enjoying this group of videos on inlay tromendously
Great, thanks for watching!
Oh too cool!! I have never seen pewter melted or poured and this was a leaning videos of how to turn an ordinary piece of wood into something absolutely classy and gorgeous! Amazing job. Great work and idea on your part.
Glad you liked it! Thanks
Pewter looks magically reflective 😍 some of my favorite bits of your videos is when you imitate the viewer or make light of a Herculean effort. Makes us feel involved ☺️ beautiful piece 🥰
Thank you very much
I love the inlay of pewter that for me makes the bowl look very special.
Thank you very much
Wow, that pewter really shines!
Thanks 😊
It’s a very beautiful bowl. I don’t know what it is, but this reminds me of ancient Rome, -bowls with silver trimmings. Very regal. 😊👍🏻 Also, I remember when I was very young, my father used to melt lead for soldering components in his auto shop. Memories. 😊 Pewter does look like lead; and silver. Thanks, Jim, for sharing your talent with us. ⭐️👍🏻🤗💕🇺🇸
Pewter totally looks like lead and silver! Thanks for watching!
Love the beautiful river in the beginning of your channel, and of course great bowl!
Thank you very much
Beautiful wood and beautiful design. Grew up with jarrah around me and this walnut scratches that itch.
Jarrah’s a small fortune here, thanks 🙏

Beautiful job friend. I just stumbled on to your page.... I'm glad..! This 75 year still appreciates beautiful wood working. Thanks..!

Thank you so much!
Hi Jim, I’ve fallen in love with black walnut from your videos. Another gorgeous bowl. Thank you
Black walnut is king! Thanks 🙏
Another beauty, Jim! I've been focusing on the resin bowls, & this is one of the 1st I've seen with a straight inlay. It looks fantastic so it seems I need to watch a few more!
Thank you very much!
Great start. Not all explains their process. Your vids is good for beginners
Zen Pascual thanks 🙏
Been dreaming this hobby upon my retirement age though that will take me a long road 🤣. Been enjoying your vids
Love that bowl. The pewter goes perfect with the walnut. Elegant and understated. The wood is amazing to look at. Thanks for the great demonstration and instruction on pewter as well. Cheers.

Thank you very much!
So Beautiful!! I love pewter and this is awesome!!❤❤
Me too!! Thanks
Laughed when you had the pewter blocks over the tiny pot.
Thanks
You're a great turner and I've learned a lot watching your videos. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Roger!
Oh wow! Such a stunning piece! Love the wood grain and the colour. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful! Never heard of lead-free pewter. Always thought lead was an integral part of pewter. Loved the melting!
It’s the expensive stuff, lol. Thanks
Pewter! The bowl is sensational! Creatively at it’s best. Take a bow...
Thanks again!
Id love to see more of the copper pipes filled with pewter, black resin and purple resin. A mix if those would look amazing 💜
Filling those small pips might be challenging, lol. I l8e the idea though. Thanks
Com pewter ? What a brilliant idea .... before i'm going to try something like that, i'll start practicing by doing a soapstone inlay to a cracked holly bowl. Thanks for your inspiring vids ! Greetings from northern germany
Awesome! Thanks Stefan, Woodturning must be poplar in Germany, I seem to have quite a following there, thanks.
Hi Jim.. Loved the Pewter poor around the rim of the bowl. I couldn't help think what it would look like if you added some copper chips to the pewter befor it crowned and then finished the poor of pewter so it crowned and then when you finished turning the rim you would see thr copper shinning or sprkeling through the pewter. If your wondering about me I'm a retired Artist who loves to do wood working but never had the time while I was making a living now I'm old and disabled but still love to watch your video's, Keep up the great work, I love watching from start to finish.
I tried something similar to this but with twisted copper wire and it was a failure, there’s a video here on my channel about it. The copper chips would probably be easier as you could heat them up put them in the rim and pour over top of them. It’s a great idea and will possibly give it a try in the future, thanks!
Stunning, brilliant idea with the pewter. Absolutely love it.
Thanks Bob!
Gorgeous . Thanks so much for talking us through the inlay technique. Also great the watch your bowl gouge work , great steady hand !
Thanks 🙏🏻
Great job. I just stumbled on your channel.
One CAF Vet to another BZ!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing your video Jim I enjoyed it very much. Pouring the pewter directly into the dovetailed groove didn't cause much burning or discoloration of the wood which was a big eye opener for me as i have in the past made a separate mold then glued the pewter into the main piece afterwards, This method saves heaps of time. Thank you again for your very down to earth and professional demonstration that i think is just right for all woodturners to learn from.
Kind Regards
Col ( Denmark Western Australia )
Great Col, thanks 🙏🏻
I’ve never seen you smelt metal for an inlay before, it’s very cool. Edit: the wood is beautiful, I love it when there’s a knot & chatoyance
Thanks for watching
Beautiful example of your work, thank you for sharing your techniques.
Thanks 🙏
I think it looks amazing, a bowl anybody would be proud to own.👍🏻😃

Really beautiful bowl. I’ve made similar with resin, but I love the pewter finish. Thanks for sharing.

DANG.
That bowl will never not be handsome, this is where the term timeless beauty comes from.
It'd be easier to say what I don't like about it, and that's nothing.
Thanks Jim
P.s

Thank you!
Truly stunning.
Thanks 🙏
Amazing job. Going to try my hand at bowl turning soon. Cheers
If you do, you’ll be hooked! Thanks
Super cool inlay! I recently made a box and used a peice of copper wire as an inlay. It was just a little peice of wire, 12awg, only about 6 inches long but we had a good time joking about it being a $500 box because the price of copper is so high right now.
I’ve used copper a few times here, and your right it isn’t cheap, lol.
Great looking bowl, wonderful wood and finish!!
Thanks 🙏
absolutely beautiful
Thanks Christina!
