Emmy Russell, the season 22 finalist on American Idol, paid tribute to her late grandmother, Loretta Lynn, with a moving performance of "Coal Miner's Daughter." Russell also performed Brandi Carlile's "Carried Me With You" from the 2020 Disney film Onward. American Idol will return in 2025, but without longtime judge Katy Perry.
