What a sweet girl. Famous Grandma or no famous Grandma, the song she wrote was beautiful and I hope she has huge times ahead of her.
this is what a modest person with no ego looks like. she doesnt brag about her famous grandmother. even when she mentioned her grandma she just said she was a country singer and not a “famous” country singer. she wasnt even going to say her grandma’s name until they asked ❤

Just search for "Emmy Russell & Lukas Nelson Sing "Lay Me Down" | A Celebration of the Life and Music of Loretta Lynn" uploaded ~a year ago.
There are more videos. She stood on stage when she was 11 and 16 (that's what you can easily find on CZcams).
But yeah. That's always for entertainment purposes, but also always feels like being "lied" to.
And there are of course a lot more such examples on those casting shows.
Edit: But she has a beautiful voice though.

Agree and disagree. Don't forget that she has to do all this on her own, without her great grandmother. Emmy was certainly born with something. In any case, I'm already a bit of a fan of this little girl from Nashville Tennessee.
@@btsr2553 I think you misunderstood my comment, it was it about Emmy, it was that calling Loretta Lynne "a country singer" is an understatement, she's one of the queens of country. it would be like saying "oh my mums an actress" if you were Liza Minnelli, Blake Shelton is a country singer, Loretta Lynne is a Legend

I grew up here in Bavaria side by side with the GIs formerly stationed here. AFN was my gate as a young blonde boy to the world. My mother would have loved listening to country music all day if AFN had that on their program. I also know Loretta. I can see my mother humming along to Loretta's and all the other artists' songs while she did the housework. There must still be a compact cassette somewhere ...

My Dad was overseas in the service my grandfather was sick. My dad didn't have the ability to call home. Loretta Lynn came to the base on tour. My dad was able to talk to her and said his dad wasn't doing well and wished he could get a message through to him. Loretta Lynn told him not to worry. My dad shrugged it off believing it to be a pr thing. Nope Loretta Lynn personally called my grandfather and wished him well told him that my dad was well and worried about him.
When she said Loretta Lynn, I was like WHAT!!! And now I'm in tears ... go Emmy

OMG. It must be so hard to see Grandma's path and wonder if you are good enough. My youngest daughter struggled in the shadow of her sister. I told her not to worry about meeting the goals. I worried about her sister burning out before she was 21. The younger daughter has found her way and is successful. Her sister is 42, president and CEO of a company, received the highest lifetime award from her graduate school. And perches precariously on the brink of a breakdown. It's hard to sit in the shadow of greatness. But greatness can take a tremendous toll. Be who you really are. That from a dad and grandpa who cares so much for my daughters and grandchildren. Find your own way.

At the end of the video you can see she just realized she’s no longer “Loretta Lynn’s granddaughter.” She’s now Emmy Russel, singer-songwriter who happens to also be the granddaughter.

Both her parents, aunts and uncles are very talented as well. Her mom, Patsy Lynn Russell and Patsy's twin sister Peggy are the youngest daughters of Loretta Lynn. Patsy Lynn is named after Loretta's friend, the famous country singer, Patsy Cline. Patsy and her twin sister Peggy formed a country duo called "The Lynns." They recorded one album for Reprise Records, which charted two singles on Hot Country Songs Chart. The Lynns received CMA Award nominations for Vocal Duo of the Year in 1998 and 1999. They received an ACM Award nomination for Top New Vocal Group or Duo.

Loretta Lynn, and Crystal Gail, were pivotal in country when I was a kid. The Lynn's aren't slouches either. This woman doesn't have big shoes to fill, she just has to get comfortable in her own.

Wow, you have to feel for this contestant. The granddaughter of Loretta Lynn, and she has talent. Not sure she will win but if she can strengthen her presentation, she will be going places. She has a meaningful original song to boot - something few contestants on this show ever do (it happens, but not often).
