So I've put this on for at least the 20th time. The good news is I won't hear it through to the end. Again! That signifies a solid sleep. I will of course skip forward a little every subsequent night. Your narrations have a beneficial effect on many people. Isn't that great? Cheers Greg! Your readings are singular. 😀

Me too- have listened to these episodes many times.
I don't need sleeping pills- the narration slips me into sleep.
The narrator could bring tears to glass eye.

I never sleep when I listen to these. I’ve read them a zillion times and seen the videos and movies but listening is Thrilling!!! It’s suspense all over again. Greg is an absolute master! They are all brand new and fresh again and every story I listen to becomes my new favorite…until the next one. Many thanks.

Same trope as was used by Conan Doyle in the 'hide the valuable inside a living goose' story. But superior to it, in using a wider canvas, encompassing Italian history and sociology. Beautifully read, as always. Text is a bit down on 'sallow' Italians resident in London during the late 1800s,(they tend to bite) but the author was a man of his times and must be read as such.

One of my personal favorites, Greg. After listening to this, I had to immediately go watch the Jeremy Brett adaptation of the same story. The ending where he's so affected by LeStrade's admiration really lands with Brett's performance and is one of my favorite moments in his entire run as Holmes. Cheers, as usual, sir! o/
