    I am really looking forward to this aircraft, more than any other that have been announced. It was one of my favorites in FSX due to a strange connection to a particular aircraft. I spent a considerable amount of time in Hawaii and preferred to fly inter-island on Aloha Island Air. I often replicate this flying in sims since I prefer frequent takeoffs and landings over long haul operations. Anyway, my last flight on a Twin Otter was on N707PV a few days before that particular aircraft crashed on Molokai; I still have a picture of her on the ramp at Kapalua from that day. Here’s hoping that someone makes a period-correct livery so that this aircraft can fly again.

    Really excited to fly this around Alaska and other interesting places. You should check out the mod for that GPS, I am pretty sure it gives you the option to type in waypoints and stuff with the keyboard to save sanity of not having to twist the damn knob.
    Did a flight from Kodiak to Anchorage in the Kodiak the other day, god damn it gets dark quick up there this time of year. Also, the weather was horrendous.

    Someplace tropical for next time? Check out the Bahamas! That's my main plan for the Twin Otter; maybe I'll end up in the barren cold of Alaska or Antarctica at some point, but my current plan is to work up to a Twin Otter using the Air Hauler 2 program and just putter around the Caribbean.
    Also, I'm going to be laughing at "give me fuel, give me fire, give me engine I desire" for the rest of the day.

    Excellent job handling your engine failure, if I could offer one critique, is that even though you set yourself to best glide, you did not put yourself on a course for success if you were unable to restart. One thing you definitely should have done, was turn the aircraft around instead of continuing to fly into an area where you can’t climb. Set yourself up for a possible successful landing first. Then address the engines and getting them restarted. Awesome job dealing with an unexpected failure though!!

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  Před 2 lety +3

      By my altitude, I judged that if a restart failed, best oportunity with my configuration (skis) was a landing on the glacier ahead, rather than risking tundra behind me with large metal flippers on my landing gear that could cause them to rip off and roll... at least in my head.

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  Před 2 lety +4

      Basically that... though overall principles of flight are pretty universal, once you work out specific engines... that's the most of it... Turboprop be turboprop generally... piston piston... radial radial... they all have comonality. The Twin Otter I have a couple of hundred hours in from fsx :D

    @Theguyunderyourbed22 Před 2 lety

    This trip was one of my favorite missions in FSX, of course there the nuance was that the plane struggled with the altitude. A real shame they didn't make the effort for missions in this game. I know for most players that's not what they're getting it for but it feels pretty bare bones.
