I went to visit Stanford twice. I was working towards applying there for undergrad but in the situation I was in, there was no way I was going to do well enough to get in. So, I settled for a state school. I graduate this fall and now I’m setting my sights on Stanford again for Physician Assistant school. I’ll be applying next fall if all goes well! I absolutely loved the environment of Stanford as well as California in general. Really hoping I can get in

I just had to comment on this, I'm SO HAPPY FOR YOU!! congrats on Stanford!! as young women we are always subliminally told we shouldn't be confident or have faith in ourselves. but take it from a 21 year old woman of colour who is a graduate of Oxford uni n now doing a master's there... you can achieve WHATEVER YOU WANT and this is just the beginning for you!! congrats n never let anyone tell you that you can't achieve something :)))))

Stanford has great weather. I enjoyed my time there, especially going on hikes whenever you feel like. So many trails nearby.

For anyone about to apply to college, please do not apply to this many schools. You usually have to pay at least $50 to send in an application to any University so it’s pointless to waste that much money. All you need is a reach school, a school you know you can likely get into based on the websites requirements, and a safety school.
I feel that 100%. I applied to so many unis (recent video) Bc I really doubted myself but it was soooo stressful

This isn't necessarily true. Some college waive application fees with students who prove financial need. Also, there may be independent funding sources that cover application fee costs. While I certainly would not apply to 26 colleges, I sincerely recommend at least five schools. It isn't just about "getting in" to the school; it's also about the financial aid package (scholarships, grants, etc.). There is no way to determine whether you will get these sources of funding or not, especially at elite schools.
I applied to 12 schools and paid $0 in application fees

Congrats! Stanford is beautiful campus (I grew up nearby). Just so you know-the weather is a Mediterranean climate, which means it can get quite cold during the winter (30s-50s). I recommend getting a bike because the campus is huge and every one rides a bike there.

Congratulations! You were able to pick from a set of really elite schools. That inner wisdom that knew Stanford was the right fit, is important to listen to. The bar is now going to be raised further, so consider taking a look at GTD (Getting Things Done) - to get everything out of your head and into a trusted system. Fordham (BS), USC (MSW).

I was going to really plug WashU as a good choice for you until you brought up experiencing warm weather on a regular basis. WashU is one of the most beautiful campuses in the country, but IT IS COLD in the wintertime. Lol. You will have a great experience weather and otherwise at Stanford.

Yeah, if you don't like or can't stand cold weather, Cornell is not the place to go. Though a Cornell '92 friend of mine, from San Diego, turned down Stanford and Harvard for Cornell ... Which I still find shocking. Congrats on Stanford.

@@sofiapesantez3344 Thanks that's great, I am seeing a trend of more public school kids making it into the ivies and other highly selective schools, like Stanford and M.I.T. the higly rated charter schools seem to be the sweet spot for most selective schools, along with highly rated magnet schools like Thomas Jefferson High school of Science and Technology, in Alexandria Virginia, would you consider your high school as highly rated in your state ?
I don’t think it is very highly rated in my state, it is a good school though. It prepared me very well for college applications

I’m not trying to make this sound like hate, because I’m super happy for you, but I’m sad that you applied to so many schools. I got rejected or waitlisted from all of these schools that I also applied to this year and it sucks that you took the spot from people like me who really wanted to go. These schools are amazing and it’s super exciting that you got accepted, I just hope that you and other people who apply to an “unnecessary” amount of schools understand where I’m coming from. Congrats and I really do wish you the best at Stanford!
sometimes you have to choose a variety of schools because you never know what financial aid will look like... i know so many people who applied to their dream school but couldn’t afford it, so they had a bunch of other options with different ranges of scholarships.
its not taking the spots if she gives them up before decision day, it allows the next person on the waitlist to get that spot. she just wanted options :)

Looking at the linkedin profiles of medical students at top 25 medical schools showed the largest number (196) went to Harvard undergraduate. Stanford had 161 graduates. Harvard has 6755 undergraduates and Stanford has 6996. So if you adjust for the class size, you are 26% more likely to go to medical school from Harvard than from Stanford. Harvard Office of Career Services said 93% of medical school applicants from Harvard are successful. The corresponding figure for Stanford is said to be around 75%. UC Berkeley only has a 50% acceptance rate, and UCSD has a 40% acceptance rate to medical school.
