    “3 big problems” that aren’t a problem at all 😝

  • @Microwave414

    The biggest issue I've seen with the quartz is that it fails to hit the markers on the watch and for the price of this watch it really should be hitting those markers. I think I'd rather have the mechanical version of this watch just because of that alone.

  • @takethecurseOFFwashingmachine

    Great video on a great watch. For me, it’s 35mm quartz all day long. I have a 7.5 inch wrist, but I really feel prefer the look of a smaller dress watch or casual sporty watch. I’ve also always felt there was nothing wrong with bigger wristed people wearing smaller watches. I’ve worn the prx in 40mm and just felt it looked a little too out of proportion in that size…..as for the movement, I’m a huge lover of quartz, and in this case the original prx from the 70s was also quartz. As were other famous 70s integrated designs (i.e. oysterquartz), so I’m all about staying true to that period in aesthetic and functionality.

  • @thenotanclan
    @thenotanclan Před rokem +17

    35mm is the way to go - if authenticity matters it’s 1/1 same as the 1978 original and fits like no other watch I’ve ever worn - the finish and build quality rival many watches over £1k - one of these and a G-Shock as a beater and you have the perfect 2 watch collection

    I opted for the 40mm quartz in gold. Very happy with it and it's in regular rotation. Even if they had offered a automatic version in gold, I'd still have opted for the quartz as it slips under the cuff just that bit better. I do like the grab and go functionality of quartz pieces.

      I did the same thing. I love the brushed dial on the prx gold 40mm. It reminds me of those old wood panel walls and seeing as it's supposed to be an homage to the 70's the quartz movement just makes more sense, got a blue gentleman for the powermatic 80 movement anyways

  • @paulhopkins1905
    @paulhopkins1905 Před rokem +1

    I bought an automatic PRX with the green dial after buying my Gentleman (which I love) after all they hype alover it. I have to say, I'm pretty underwhelmed with it.
    The waffle doesn't really reflect light very well and looks dull. It's shape wears funny, and the dial looks very small on my larger wrist. The bracelet which is it's best feature is slightly too tight, and the dealer can't get me a half link. Mine has a slight discolration in one corner of the case that is only visible in direct sunlight.
    The Gentleman overall is by far the better watch. The dial is much better than the PRX, it's more versitile, and more comfortable on wrist. It also fits a larger wrist better as the dial is more substantial

    • @TopTierTicker
      @TopTierTicker  Před rokem +1

      I do agree, The PRX isn't perfect by any means. It does sit slightly odd on my wrist depending on how expansive it is with the weather (I should've gone with the 35mm). I have seen the automatic versions in person and I do agree, the dial is a little bit underwhelming. I've seen better waffle dials on the Chinese royal oak homages.
      That being said, I do think the bracelet is lovely. The case is also very well designed too. I think the main reason it's so popular is because of its lack of Swiss competitors around the price. It's a great budget sports watch but when you do compare it with a gentleman as you stated, the gentleman wins. But... some people want an out and out sports watch. Thanks for watching mate!

    @joostkiefte7683 Před rokem +2

    Naaah, the second hand not hitting every marker is not that BIG a problem, is it? It is only visible when you look at the dial at a straight angle for a whole minute; actually, a number of minutes, because then it turns out that the second hands hits the markers differently every minute. I have several quartz watches such as two vintage Omegas (one DeVille and a Constellation) and they don't hit the markers all the time. But who on a daily basis does that? And besides, from every other angle you won't see the second hand hitting the markers anyway, so the problem is really very relative.

    • @TopTierTicker
      @TopTierTicker  Před rokem +2

      It's not a problem at all, it's an OCD thing where it gets in your head and it's an annoyance. It's hard to explain but it's just something that you can't forget. Grand seiko quartz have a special technology to ensure they always hit markers, great watches.

    Its not like they couldnt make a 40 mm watch fit smaller wrists. They didnt want to. This case has a horrible design

      Not personally heard anyone have any issues with them and I have close friends that own PRX powermatics too. What's your experience with them?
