    MY budget collection thus far:
    - Tissot PRX PM80 (Green)
    - Seiko GMT SSK003
    - Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical 38mm
    - Bulova Lunar Pilot (Black PVD)
    - Swatch Moonswatch Mission to Mars
    - Phoibos Wavemaster (Green)
    - Heitis Bronze Okeanos (White)
    - Last but not least ... Casio GA2100 (Grey)
Only addition I am considering is a vintage Omega dress watch, or an Orient Bambino. Other than that addition, my collection has everything I want and need.

Great video Kieron, and congrats on hitting 10k! Following your last video I was finally convinced to seal the deal on a Seiko alpinist, had it a couple days now and already in love. Think my next venture will have to be the white variant of that Baltic HMS 002 though, what a stunner.

Vintage is the way to go if you want a true ultimate budget collection. Recently picked up a second generation Seiko U.T.D. for only 450 USD. Its a ultra thin watch with a fully hand-made movement. A swiss watch, with a similarly thin case profile and decorated movement, would cost closer to 2000 USD pre owned. Ebel and Longines have killer neo-vintage watches aswell

Seiko released a size-appropriate field watch SRPJ85 (36.4mm) which is a smaller version of the SRPG39 (39mm). Field watches of WWII were designed to be small enough to fit under the sleeves of a field jacket and a field shirt. The original dirty dozen field watches were between 35mm and 38mm. It should also be sandblasted and not polished (unless you want the enemy to see you from the gleam of your watch).

I'm not a big fan of the crown on the left. And I think eco-drive is just a good movement to have in the collection, being the first solar powered movement ever. From a watch nerd point of view, I just think it's cool.

For me personally, solar is great as only one watch, but I don't like it for a collection as it will mostly stay in dark box and when after 10 years the special battery or something else dies it's gonna cost more than changing regular battery every 3 years.

Man, I REALLY hate the “fashion dial” on any chronograph but especially on a Quartz watch. No one can call Seiko and order up a hot batch of VK- 67 movements ? They support a genuinely historically correct (you would be laughed out of flight school with a Speelunker dial. ) set of components that are a must for Pilots. I am told manufacturers use the worthless 24 hour dial as a fashion balance…yeah Buddy, I’m all about the fashion when it comes to TOOL WATCHES. Geeeze…12 hour totalizer is vital for flight ops and is easily the very best for timing…a 500 mile cross country, a slow boat to China..…name it. Try the new Tri-compax Baltany with said VK-67 movement. Has the old Val Joux 7750 feel. Nice review but I do prefer individualized vids. I too have a computer. Congrats on 10K subs and I do enjoy your channel ! Thanks

Some excellent choices there! First two were easy: Divers: From your selection, Orient Kamasu, NO doubt whatsoever! From my collection: Doxa Sub 300T. Chronograph: From your selection: Seagull 1963, and from my collection: Exactly the same. It's actually my most accurate mechanical watch, gaining a second every 4 days on average. Everyday watch: From your selection: Surprisingly, the Citizen! From my collection: My old Accurist Reverse Panda Chrono, it's survived everything I've thrown at it, including 3 years in the Army, and 20+ years of rock climbing and mountaineering! Field watch: From your selection: CWC, personally I'd go for the mechanical (Unless I was going into combat where timing is critical). From my collecion: A 1945 German WW2 issue 'DH' watch by Doxa, maybe not technically a 'field watch', but it was military issue and probably saw combat. Dress watch: From your collection: Seiko Cocktail Time....Easy choice. From my collection: Another vintage Doxa. GMT, Your selection: The Seiko, with Glycine as a close second. My collection: Same, the Blueberry one. Pilot Watch: Your selection: Easy choice! The Laco. From my 'Future collection' One of the Laco 'Erbstuck' range OR a genuine WW2 vintage B-Uhr (B-Dial). Beater: From your collection: F91W. Could go same from my collection, but I'll go for a Vostock Amphibia. Great vid. Thank You.

Love your selection of both my picks and your own collection / goals. Sounds like you have a good idea where you'd like to head in the near future with your collection too, which is always the smart thing to do. Keep on collecting, and make sure you enjoy it too! 🙏

Thanks :D My collection, and the direction I'm aiming at heading doesn't have ANY sort of theme, or logic to it, but I DO have a fairly clear idea of what watches I like, and which ones I don't, so that certainly makes it easier! 'Investment' / long term value isn't really part of the plan, as I'm buying them to wear and enjoy, NOT for financial reasons. Only been in the hobby for a couple of years, but really enjoying it so fa! Thank You for the as always interesting and informative vid!

Quick question about the PRX, with it being a built in bracelet - is it too big for a skinny wrist?

    • @TopTierTicker
      @TopTierTicker  Před rokem +1

Depends on your wrist size. If your wrist is above 7 inches the 40mm will fit you perfectly. If its below, it gets a little tighter. That's when it's worth considering the 35. I'd recommend visiting a local AD and trying some on! All the best

Out of your choices. Dive watch = Alkin. Chronos = Yema Rallygraf (I own one). Every day watch = Baltic. Field watch = none of yours, I'd get a Hamilton. Dress watch = Merkur. The GMT = None of yours, it would be the Chris Ward C63 GMT or even the Batavi Kosmopoliet. Pilot watch = I liked the Zeppelin, but none of them beat a Glycine Airman. Beater watch = I bought a used Rotary Henley GMT for £60. Sapphire crystal, great lume, good water resistance, a decent bracelet, and a good Ronda quartz GMT movement. In summary, I hate Casio watches, and the only Seiko I like is the Alpinist

@@i_read_bad_reviews I mean it's impossible to take a huge loss on a $200 watch. In fact, I made profit on my Bambino, and I could definitely sell my Kamasu for more than I paid for it. So that argument doesn't work.
The Orient Kamasu is one of the best affordable watches in the world, my red version is incredible. The movement is great, the dial work is top tier and the overall quality is way higher than most other big brands at this price. Yes, if you go Microbrand you get more 'value', but for people like me, who value history, Tissot and Orient are some of the best
