    Thansk again to Kevin the Scotsman for the loan of his brand new PRX. I like it, and I like it in quartz. But unless you simply must have one, maybe hang on for a bit to see what the auto does to the market, or wait for supply to hit the grey market. Cheers, Jody

      If you ever buy a 3 handed quartz watch it should be this one.
      The 'quartz crisis' is something that you need to be older than me to fully appreciate I think, but given the industry only ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ started to recover in the last 20-25yrs it's safe to say that we'll most likely never experience anything like it ourselves - smart watches or not.

    I bought one today one from the Tissot boutique here in Sydney. The blue and white dials are sold out, and after my purchase there's just one black remaining. I asked when the Powermatic 80 will be in store and they gave a tentative estimate of about two months. Something to consider; the full length PRX bracelet only just fits my 8-inch wrist, but the Tissot store will order in two extra links for you completely free of charge. I'm really happy with my purchase, it's a beautiful watch.

    Absolutely LOVE my Black Dial Quartz PRX, and chose it a while ago after the PM80 Version was already made known weeks ago/there were pictures of the Black Waffle Style Dial one in a Review already with pricing.
    Love the subtle vertical brushing on the Black Dial... It's actually much different than the Blue Dial in nice lighting (looks very BLACK most of the time, but outdoors that Dial comes to life), but damn... I'm tempted to buy a Blue Dial now 😑.
    Oh, and I will say I was lucky enough to get one with a "seconds hand that hits every marker", for those who think none of them do. It has to be a quality control issue (This is still a HELL of a Watch for the $320, all said and done, I paid for it UK->US)... Bracelet is surprisingly good, and obviously as shown... Gorgeous.
    I didn't even know about that issue until after I had the thing on my wrist for over a week 😅. Now I'm actually nervous to buy another, and may just pay full Retail if I do buy a second one and get it in person... Making damn sure it ticks like my Black Dial. Although honestly, considering how damn accurate the movement is anyway, unless you have serious OCD it really doesn't matter much.
    If you have wrists under 7", I would probably avoid it altogether... Especially the PM80 Version, as it'll be thicker as well... The Quartz is the way to go IMO and you can get 2 for the price of the Auto, or set the other chunk aside toward another Watch... 🤷‍♂️

    I like this piece. Reminds me of my first quartz Seiko I got in the 70s.
    I reckon the quartz is the sweet spot. The niggles as mentioned are a bridge too far at 700 USD.

  • @bestvaluewatches
    @bestvaluewatches Před 2 lety +7

    Tissot has truly hit it out of the park with this one. Is the best watch ever? No. I think you have mentioned big things that for the price should be fixed in the crown and the caseback. However the styling (oyster quartz style) is definitely a big hit for me and I can’t wait to have both the quartz as well as the automatic in my collection. And i’m eyeing up that 18K Fluted bezel version as a gift for my father, the man who got me into watch collecting.

    I would definitely wait for an automatic version, but I wouldn't really be interested in an interested strap or bracelet. It's important to be able to swap out straps depending on the occasion and the clothes. It's a nice watch though, I'm not mad about the case. It reminds me of the bedside clock my mother had when we were kids. Maybe it was a Tissot! Did Tissot make clocks??🤔

      Unfortunately, my experience with cheap chinese watches was similar.
      I bought two Pagani Design 'Daytona'. One is a good watch for the price. Far away from top notch but you get what you pay for.
      The other watch however was rubbish in all regards. Worse finishing, something was wrong with the movement and the bracelet fell apart after two weeks of use.
      But I guess that is part of the magic when you are buying things on Aliexpress.

    I bought a prx quartz, blue. I was worried that the second hand would miss the markers and annoy me, luckily it hits them all. The style and quality is fabulous for the money, £295. Personally i like the simple date window, it keeps it subtlety in the background. I may still have the second hand removed, although as someone else here said, it's in keeping g with the 70s model. It's my go-to watch now.
