What kind of paint brushes do you use??
The brushes are listed in the descrition of each tutorial and I show them on the screan as I use them
Thank you for not insulting our Intelligence with a thick coat of contrast and a dry brush
thank you for comenting :D
better than official tutorial
I'm flattered, thank you :)
These leviathan box set tutorials are some of the best I’ve seen for the ‘eavy metal style, looking forward to the screamer killer video 🤞. Your channel is fast becoming my go to for painting guides, keep up the good work, it’s very much appreciated
Thank you. I probably won't paint everything from the box, I'm picking things that will let me show you every you need though. My next nid tutorial is going to be the Psychophage, if I ever get round to painting a screamer killer, it will most likely be using short form tutorials. Glad your enjoying the content :D
@TableTopReadyCZcams totally understandable. These are excellent guides and the techniques you've demonstrated should be more than sufficient for the rest of the box, especially the black/purple carapace of the larger nids. If your doing shorts for the screamer killer though, could I recommend the transition from the scything claws to the skin, and also the dome of the skull (its a great looking effect and I'm not sure how GW achieved it)
The dark carapace I want to cover on the Psychphage and for the screamer killer, those will probably be the things I want to cover when I figure out how to do it :P
I’m a beginner and these type of videos are great help to me
I’m glad you enjoy the content 😁
This made a lot of sense, and I like how you're explaining things.
I'm doing my Hivefleet in a main colour of Sotek Green skin with Tyran Blue highlights, and Nurgling Green carapace. What I wasn't sure how I'd do was the highlights on the carapace. I think I'll do a wash of Krieg Khaki further toward the summit of the carapace, with the final highlights and scratches being Trollslayer Orange.
The Hivemind thanks you!
This scheme seems like a winner. :D good luck
Really liking the chest plate and the wings. I must give this glazing thing a go!
Glazing is a lot of fun to do and I've only recently started doing it and I now find I end up doing it in every tutorial so its very usful :) I recomend the grey knights tutorial and battle sisters to see other things you can do with it
Great tutorial as always. I've got TWO 3rd edition Hive Tyrants - the old metal ones - that I've been meaning to paint for years, and I think basically all of these techniques could apply to that project. I might pick up a Tyranid Prime just to practice on. Thank you!
I remember those. I reccomend pinning them, they always broke. I found you can get a prime pretty cheap on ebay. I got one to pratice on first as well :P
Tyranids seems really fun to paint enjoyed the video
They really are. this was a very rewarding miniature to paint and my favourite so far I've done. I'm eager to paint more now :P
Would recommend
Very useful tutorial
Great Video
Sorry, that last one is a bit too long, but I genuenly love your videos, and you are the reason I got into warhammer, so I really apreciate it.
I apreciate your apreciation :) I'm glad my content helped
LOVE this Tyranid design/would make a great addition to any Hive.
The Prime Tyrant looks very fun to paint and your execution/process really streamlined the task and make it look enjoyable rather than a daunting project. I actually might buy one of these to paint. I Want to go all out on the Leviathan Tyranids as i want the build an army so starting with this and a broodlord would be mad. If they're good I'll have to get multiple but god it's expensive 🫰🏾.
Salamanders will have to wait. I NOM with my Tyranid forces.
i love the new tyranid models and I love the new style leviathan scheme as well. Its definitely one of my armies :D
This guide is so cool! I really like the armour and wings.
Thank you :)
Very Nice vidéo! I’m struggling with my tyranids but this will help
I'm glad. try not to put too much pressure on yourself. the important thing is to enjoy the process and relise with time and practice we'll get better :)
Hi Michael, been away for a minute sorry! Back with a bang and this video is awesome, sent it straight to a friend who’s just bought the new combat patrol!
I was wondering what happened to yah ha Glad your still around and enjoying the new content. Hope this helps your friend
@@TableTopReadyCZcams yeah sorry mate, had a bit of a dip but back and better now!
I'm glad :)
@@TableTopReadyCZcams now time to catch up!
Lovely tutorial, I'm gonna do a behemoth scheme but the instructions for the wings where still useful.
Glad you liked it. I will no doubt cover a behemoth scheme in the future, but all you need to do is change out colours I use in this tutorial as the steps and techniques are the same :)
You killed this one! Lovely work and thanks for the video
Glad you liked it. Thank you :)
Algorithm Gang checking in for the comment and like
always appreciated :D Thank you
good job my guy. love your videos. would you at some point consider to do a longer video where we can see your process more in depth?
Its tough. because I explain and say everything that needs explaining already. The best thing to do is just get painting and have a go yourself. thats how your going to learn better. watching me do what I do but for longer doesn't really ad anything. get praticing and how thats better than watching someone else do it :) I believe
Absolutely stunning. Nice work. Perfect tutorial. Makes me dream of the day you give behemoth a go. ❤
It will happen, don't worry
Awesome job! Great Tutorial 😎
Thank you :D
Brilliant job as always
Thank you very much :)
You really need more views! These are amazing.
I'm trying ^_^ Thank you
OMG I LOVE IT❤
Gonna try this on my Daemon Prince 🤩
do it :D
Great content, Michael! Thanks for sharing your experience! I've just finished painting my first ever minis (heavy intercessor squad) following your tutorial. Your instructions are so clear and helpful! 😊 Hoping one day I'll be able to paint something as large as the tyranid you work on in this video!
Thank you. Well done on painting your first miniatures. I'm glad my content has helped with that. Honestly those heavy intercessors are chonky boys so it shouldn't be too long before you work your way to bigger things. Keep painting and you'll be winning a golden demon award before you know it
@@TableTopReadyCZcams thank you! =)
Amazing video mate, I will certainly look up some of those mixes when I'll be trying to do some of new Nids in this "pinkish" style instead of older, darker one fully with contrasts.
This new leviathan scheme is so much nicer and more vibrant, just the way I like it.
Love this
thank you :D
Love the videos. Can't support money but can support by liking subscribing and rewatching your videos!! Keep making these vids ❤❤
Thank you. Just liking and commenting on videos is just as valuable, if not more valuable as it pushes out the videos :)
I'm a little confused about when to use glazes vs washes vs contrast paints. Specifically, does it matter if you use Lahmian medium vs contrast medium to thin the contrast paints down? I mean the contrast medium should make the paint run into the recesses more than the Lahmian, but isn't that what you want? I mean you're coming back with the wraithbone to brighten up the highpoints.
Thanks for all your hard work. Keep em coming!
so a glaze, wash and contrast paints are used for different reasons. contrasts paints are more like inks and do the job on a layer paint and wash. a wash is applied all over to create definition and a Glaze is basically like painting with very thin paints almost like water colours. a glaze is used for changing hues very suttely. lahmian and contrast medium are pretty much the same thing, the only difference is that contrast medium dries a lot quicker. to really figure out what to use them for is to actualy use them and see what you can do with em
Looking great! Inspiring me to not rush my nids. Glazing is my namesake ❤ have you considered using a glaze medium? Daler Rowney matte glaze medium is a god send and really helps with the technique.
Nids are very different to painting anything else and once you've got a couple under your belt, they become pretty straight forward to paint, even to a higher standard. This has been one of my most favorite and frustrating projects so far. I have thought about using a medium for glazing but everytime I watch Darren Glaze, he only uses water and so that means I have to as well. Its also easier to teach someone to use just water as I don't want them to have to worry about getting another product when water is fine.
Great work. I need people to paint their models for my space marines to beat up
Lets spread the word :)
hey man, sick video! i've used it to paint my first ever leviathan nids and really happy with the result! Question for you, i've just got deathleaper and that box art has a lot darker purples on the joints and that wicked cape, how would you go about doing those? cheers man
I’m going to be working on the psycophage pretty soon which has a darker carapace. Maybe that will help 👌🏻
Yay!
:D
This video came out just on time I’m about to paint my gargoyles I’m guessing the same techniques can be applied?
Yes absolutly, I also have the termagaunt tutorial which should help as well :D Good luck and have fun
on blending the wings, will using flayed one, cadian and gal vortek with 50/50 mixes in between get roughly the same result? trying to save some money
absolutley you can :D
Any recommendations for alternatives to Dark Reaper and Thunderhawk Blue? My local store says Citadel has currently removed those 2 colours from their on sale rotation.
I don’t know why they told you that? Those paints are always available? You can order them from games workshop or other stockists online if you can’t get them from that store.
@@TableTopReadyCZcams Ahh I see. I'll try other stores or online then, thanks!
Comment to comment on your outstanding content
Thank you, its appreciated :D
😊
can you please show how to paint the biggest tyranid in the new ultimate starter set? the one with the chimneys on the back
Yes I will being painting the psycophage very soon :D I'm looking forwad to it infact. you'll probably see it towards the end of next onth
cool! just bought the ultimate starter set:)@@TableTopReadyCZcams
i like the terrain in that box
can you teach how to paint in other hive fleet colours?
When ever I can fit a tutorial in, I will.
do you scrape paint away and use plastic glue or just use super glue when you assemble models painted in sub assemblies?
go watch my getting warhammer miniatures ready for painting :) but yes if I'm using plastic glue I will scrape away the layer of paint of the contact area first
i have watched it probably several times xD just started now actually writing things down. your guides are absolutely amazing!@@TableTopReadyCZcams
I'll come back here later, but a comment for the algorithm nontheless
I appreciate it, thank you :D
Why Lahiam medium over contrast medium for the flesh painting?
You can use Contrast Medium, but I found it dries to quickly
Why use Lahmian Medium with contrast paint, instead of using contrast medium?
Contrast medium dries faster than lahmian medium. This just makes it tougher to work with as a wash
Don’t forget the most important step…sticking out your tongue while painting 👍🏼.
Did you glue some of those parts to sprue scraps?
I had my tongue out the whole time ha I did use sprue to attach parts. I will be doing a video very soon talking about this
@@TableTopReadyCZcams Nice 👍🏼. I don’t even realize how much I have my tongue out while painting until my younger son points it out every time. 😂
I prime my nids in seers grey
if that's what works for you then go for it :) you can also use white scar as well. what ever makes things easier
@@TableTopReadyCZcams it’s good for hive fleet typhon because skin has a kind of light grey hue. Saves me a job let me tell you lol
When should we expect painting tutorials for 92nd cadia regiment vehicles? There is no sufficient primer in the can, therefore it is really tricky without having airbrush.
