Nickname for this plant is "Dao Noy" it means "Little Star" in Thai language! It grows in northwestern Thailand near the Myanmar border. A beautiful plant that is easy to grow!
Informative AND entertaining. Plus, it looked like you had helferi growing out of your cap too! Thank you for this vid. It’s going straight into my Favorites list.
Hi from the UK. Just binge watched your set. Beautiful filming. Really helpful as I'm just starting out. I would be interested in seeing some out of tank shots as you split your cuttings before replanting. You are defo on my subscribed list :) Thanks for your hard work, it's much appreciated x
Such a beautiful plant. What recommendations would you give for those planting in a dirted tank with sand or gravel cap? Could you also do a short video on your Fluval 3.0 light settings? I’m looking to purchase a 24”-30” deep tank and would like to keep and use my 3.0’s. Thanks much! I remember the first video I saw of yours with the Mohawk talking about sumps.
i didnt think i would like it, but i got it for super cheap off joe when you got yours... now i really dig it. mines under really high light and doesnt grow tall, it grows bushy. so its basically carpeting. now i love it. i need to build another 40 and sset up a farm rack. im about to import a bunch of stuff no one else i know has... couple months ill start dropping crazy new p[lants on patreon page for everyone to see. downoi red seems to grow much slower than regular btw. in 2 months ive only gotten about 3 mew plants from 3 original plants.
hi Corvus , beautiful plants ,,, thank you very much You & Corey have taught this beginner allot .. so far ... you mentioned you was not shipping any out do you have a store to sell plants ?...
Definitely 100% love pogo helferi/downoi. I have some, and I can’t tell if it’s growing or not. It’s not dying, but also not really doing much. *shrug*
I have a low tech tank with no co2 and very low light (some sunlight coming through though) and it seems to be growing nicely. Maybe high GH and KH is helpful in growing this plant? Or maybe it's the fact that I'm running a dirted tank, dunno.
I'm always interested in how different people propagate their plants, the substrate they use and the light duration and type. Pogostemon helferi is a plant I've been eyeing for possible inclusion in my tanks. Thanks for the species spotlight.
My Helferi stay fine with cotton pot around 20days in my tank after i bought it...but once i transfer it to soil it melt down in few days...anyone help here? Need some explain...thank you
Thai version is called downoi... (little star).. my thai wife don't even know what it is... lol... she just knows star in the sky... and just heard until she has a husband like me who not Thai.... interesting fact anyway... well... this plant actually easy and can grow in any condition water parameter... (mine) but... the critical things while you got it in emerse form... like pinatifida... they will dead easily because you drown it... need big co2 and do your EI for adapt them... then you got the jewel on the go (while they grow the shoot...)
H2Oplants offers the tropica-grown downoi in both potted and tissue culture varieties. In my experience the tissue cultures melted away but the potted plants converted over easily. Just saw that DustinsFishtanks also offers this plant now in pots.
@@matttourney6308 Sorry, should've mentioned I live in England. I did get potted, think it was badly packed. When I set up a new nano-fish tank, I might give it another try. Let it establish without fish nibbling on it.
If you want red plants, there are many other choices like Althernanthera, Ludwigia types and the like. Pogostemon Helferi is already a perfectly beautiful plant as far as I'm concerned.
Thanks for the content. Def seemed like a stretch for a video IMO. I kept waiting for something off substance. Idea water perimeters, hardness, KH, what fertz the plants likes, high light or low light, I dunno something. Wasnt much there other than uproot, trim, replant.... Still get a thumbs up from me tho! Better than nothing IMO!
How cool is that!! Perfect!!! Exactly what I was looking for! You literally touch on every topic I mentioned! 😂. Thanks again for the content fella! I'd give this one two thumbs up if I could!
I love these little spotlight and tip videos!

I'm impressed you're growing that in such a low-light aquarium!
Love this one!

Great pogo! Can't wait until you decide to sell some.🔥

These are so helpful! I have this growing in my tank now and have little side shoots all over the place

I would like to know about your other plants. Thanks
You want side shoots, more to the ground - more light. Less light, or shaded, single plant growing up ^
Definitely 100% love pogo helferi/downoi.

I have one that hasnt grown or changed size in a year. fluval stratum, good light, but no co2 in that one.

Where did you get the scissors from?

I have Pogostemon Helferi in one of my tanks and the new growth after i added CO2 has really bright white leaves, why is that?

Does anyone recommend where to get it?
I ordered some online, but it seemed quite delicate & was smashed up in the post.
What was left melted away.
I ordered a tissue culture pot of it from Buceplant around a month ago and it came in real nice and healthy, so maybe you can try there c:

Pets at home 😊
Does this plant turn reddish pinkish at the tips

How can I get in touch with you and ask some questions? Dont want to put my email on here. Let me know thank you.

I always refused to get this plant because it looks like thistle.
