DISCO INFERNO talks about BRET HART being jealous of TRIPLE H czcams.com/video/hb_tQt5mCHA/video.html
It's hilarious Disqo thinks his style was more realistic. In reality MMA & UFC hadn't blown up on a mainstream level yet.
MMA and UFC completely changed the perception of how people look at pro wrestling. Just facts.
@@akadvcyoubeezy6748 I don’t like Disco, the guy isn’t anywhere near as good as he thinks he was, but his work was more realistic than a lot of guys today. I mean, you don’t see half the botches in a goofy Disco match as you do in a Young Bucks match. Also, when it comes to unrealistic, incoherent, bs, WCW isn’t that much different than AEW.
@W B That description sounds a lot like AEW. So what’s the difference?
@W B Stop watching WWE then. Don't you understand how bad of a look it is for you people to constantly complain about a TV show that you don't have to watch?
Bret with those stomps was just as bad as the slap to the thighs just saying i always thought bret was boring in the ring haft the time he was in a rest hold .i thought his brother was 100 time's better.macho man in the early 80s was the best .
Speaking the truth is not burying. You may not like it, but Bret is not lying.
He is hating just like Jim cornette likes to hate on anything current in wrestling. Anything current sucks according to them but back in their day it was great.
@@imsljr420 it sucks according to the ratings to 😅
@Chris Hansen what are you 16?
@@imsljr420 well. I've heard JC praise content from both aew and wwe. You just have to be braindead to like everything aew or wwe do. Not realistic.
@@imsljr420Cornette doesn't like the Bucks, and they are trash, and Jericho as he should know better but can't let go.
But sure, you tell yourself what you need to in order to justify the love for Cucamonga Kids and their groups of clown show pals
This is why Sheamus, Gunther, and Drew continue to shine in the ring. They're the throwback wrestlers who can put on bangers after bangers after bangers.🎉
You said something about banger bro
For the love of God man, please stop over-using that word.
Yeah stop BANGING us over the head with the word BANGER before I call up my man DDP and get him to take you jbrones to BANG town........................................
.................bang
Brett Hart is not the only person to say any of this. The fact that people (particularly in AEW) get hurt at a ridiculous rate for things that look poorly staged is very telling.
Jim Cornette has been saying the same thing since AEW started!
There are just as many injuries in other promotions than there is in AEW.
@@imsljr420 there are not. There are injuries sure but nothing like in AEW
@imsljr420 Considering how frequently people work in AEW, the injury rate is not great. At the very least, the amount of unnecessary spots they do should really be looked at if some of these folks want to have a long career.
@Chris Hansen Bruh the rate of ppl getting injured and near death at AEW is far more than other shows. It's almost every couple of weeks. Shit didn't Mox take out Don and b4 that Page. Willow almost killed a chick. They made a show centered around Adam Cole because of how his head got bounced on....Yes it's wrestling and injuries come with it but AEE is at a new level
I’m 41 and consider myself now a casual fan. I miss the combo of good technical wrestling with entertaining storylines. (Monday night wars). Something to consider is having you guys doing podcasts on past and present wrestling is actually helping someone like me want to pay attention to modern wrestling to stay in the loop. So on that level you guys in my opinion are helping to keep it alive.
Amen I am 35 and have no interest in watching the AEW spot monkeys perform gymnastics
I’m 41 as well I feel same way bro
I'm 42 and I totally agree brother
10 years younger. I agree with Bret, but let's be honest with ourselves, I wouldn't classify the Monday night wars as some realistic wrestling. It was just as ridiculous and over the top then as it is today
I said it before, I am Canadian and when Bret Hart speaks about wrestling we all listen collectively as a country. Lol
Lol things haven't changed
That’s why wrestling isn’t growing
@@ScarFeiss how does listening to Bret Hart mean wrestling isn't growing? Wtf are u talking about. Are u ok in the head?
Bret could have wrestled a lot longer smh. Goldberg should not be in the hall of fame, they got to take that bum out of there.
@@ScarFeiss u just sound dumb ..
This is why Gunther is currently the best champion on TV...
he's unbeliviable.
@@KeepinIt100OFFICIAL Gunther is better than Kenny Omega, Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho combined and that's undeniable.
Gunther is fantastic ! He can definitely be great in any era. He reminds me of killer Kowalski.
Gunthers matches are MUST watch.
@@TheMrAlgoh comparing Günther to those jackoffs, that bar is so low Günther wouldn’t even trip over it.
But yes he really is outstanding.
Disco is spot on. The work is a HUGE part of why I don't watch any wrestling anymore. I sure miss the Bret Harts days
Have you seen Gunther, FTR, Charlotte or Rhea? There's still a few out there that keep me watching. Also FTR and Punk are officially endorsed by Bret.
@@xavierrhcp13 there are some great wrestlers out there. But the booking lets them down
@@xavierrhcp13 I always liked watching punk. I tried watching AEW when he came back and the show just wasn't for me. Little to no stories and work that was just like Bret described. I did like how FTR was initially introduced in WWE but as always the writing and booking failed the performers. Have not seen Gunther or Rhea.
@@user-uy3yn7dv3v I agree. There are a few guys I've seen that get it. Really hoping things change with WWE being sold. Wishful thinking on my part I'm sure.
LA Knight...
I'm 100% with Bret on this. I actually just sent a friend of mine a clip from an AEW match where you can clearly see members of the House of Black looking up at Orange Cassidy for like 4 seconds (at least that's what it felt like) and waiting to catch him on a dive while Best Friends are giving him a boost over the top rope. It's like a lot of talent today in both companies (but I notice it in AEW the most) just seem to miss the little details of things.
I agree with you and Bret lol but let's not pretend like the older days didn't have ridiculousness as well. Rock flopping around like a fish with every stunner and so on... lol
@@sheriffdraws8789 yeah honestly I wasn't a fan of that either.
@@sheriffdraws8789 lol well the E stands for Entertainment right haha
Watch New Japan or NOAH if you want super realistic wrestling. WWE and AEW are sports entertainment.
The house of black and orange Cassidy are absolute s***e
This is a reason I love watching European wrestlers like Aldis, Sheamus, Drew, GUNTHER, etc. These guys are believable and bring a little legitimacy to the sport.
Aldis is the current champion in Bret's son's promotion in Calgary, Dungeon Wrestling. Their show last Friday drew over 1000 people - which is HUGE for a brand new indie promotion on only their 4th show.

Don't forgot to mention you can hear them calling spots now in the ring grown-up I didn't even know they talk to each other while in the ring
I noticed that a lot at WrestleMania as well, I dunno why the production doesn't cover that up
I feel like that’s a cameraman issue
Wrestling has refused to do anything to hide the audio or video that the digital era has brought us. Once the Raw HD era began this was a big talking point but quickly forgotten. That's probably why you hear & notice a lot more than in the past pre-digital era
@@KeepinIt100OFFICIAL Brett said bulldog was high during the match Brett had to lead him through the whole match I never heard or saw him talking
To me it was in the late 90s early 2000s when i started to notice wrestlers talking to each other in the ring for me it has become a lost art to be able to call spots in the ring without the fans noticing
Bret is always right, he is like the conscience of pro wrestling.
Bret is right on. Plus with his storytelling ability, his wrestling ability and his proven ability to be a good champion and get and stay over, if anyone is qualified to give an opinion on what wrestling should be, it’s him, because he knows what works.
We are about 10 years from 90% of wrestlers understanding what Bret's point is.
Bret is the man! He should have started his wrestling school back in the early 2000's. We would have some kick ass wrestlers to watch today.
It was called the hart dungeon
Idk if i would be considered a young or an old fan, but at 29 years old, i completely agree with Bret. I watch for the few who keep it legit like FTR, MJF, Gunther, CM Punk etc. Rhea and Charlotte put on a great example of what wrestling should be at WM 39 as well.
Dante Martin broke his foot just because he wanted to get a cheap worthless pop from the fans.
@LA Knight that list is longer too. Remember Fenix broke his arm doing a spot too?
I watch for wardlow, Hobbs, Jeff hardy punk, cage, archer, Miro guys who look like actual wrestlers.
@@dranzerjetli5126 except Punk doesn’t look the part of a real Wrestler! The guy can’t fight worth shite, honestly he doesn’t even look like he could actually fight! Let’s be real here, he proved he couldn’t fight, when he actually tried it in the UFC! 😂
Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston so badly want to be these tough Stan Hansen or Bruiser Brody type guys and they just aren't. it is cosplaying tough guys.
Eddie Kingston can't even take an insult to being called fat. If EK was in the Bret Hart era, the wrestlers there would not have put up with his attitude and would make fun of his depression and beat him up until he quit.

I'm glad Gunther exists, he's the man that all the veterans in the wrestling industry loves and constantly puts to shame to most of the embarrassing garbage that AEW produces. Jon Moxley is a performer, not a wrestler.

Bret Hart speaks the truth. The formula has been severely bastardized and he's more than qualified to speak on it. The saddest part is, AEW has created a fanbase that applauds the shell of pro wrestling that we're seeing today.

He was still mediocre before he left WWE. Dude sucks
Older fans used to have wrestling parties. It meant more than today
It is absolutely true. I've watched since the 80s, and I still watch today. Difference is, in the 80s until around 2003 I used to watch every part of the show. Today, without any exaggeration, I forward through 80% of it and only stop and watch if something genuinely looks interesting. The current product all round is trash. It hurts, it's sad, but it IS true.
I love oldschool wrestling. And the crazy thing is I literally just came across a show last night that has an oldschool style. Can't believe I finally found it.... DUNGEON WRESTLING

People need to face the facts, wrestling like The Young Bucks, OC and Jon Moxley are ruining the wrestling industry.
As a 41 year old man that has been a fan since 1991, I can say that I watch more out of my love for What wrestling was, rather than what it currently is. I watch because professional wrestling has been a part of my life for 30 years, and it's hard to break away from something that you've loved for that long. Honestly, I hate 95% of what I'm seeing today. I can't sit through a show from either company, but my life still revolves around the business because I love it.
I agree Ive been watcing 25+ years now I enjoy it to a certain extent because I know what it use to be and hopefully one day it can return to that
I'll take simulated combat over coordinated gymnastics any day of the week & twice on Sunday.
I try to watch modern wrestling and I can't do it. It's almost impossible for me to watch a live event because of all of the dumb things that go on during matches, but I can sit a watch an entire show from from the territory days up to the attitude era with no problem. Podcast like this are more entertaining than the current WWE and AEW shows, it's really frustrating to see how bad wrestling has gotten, the upsetting part is that it's probably going to get even worse.
So you're saying attitude era didn't have dumb stuff? Infact that's the era that killed kayfabe for good with so much ridiculousness. Just look at how Rock sold the Stone Cold stunners lmaooo
@@sheriffdraws8789 as I said from the territoriy days up to the attitude era. I agree with you that the attitude era killed kayfabe. The attitude era was over the top and ultimately is the reason wrestling is where it is now, but during that time the more of the matches made sense than they do now. The attitude era was the beginning of the end and now pro-wrestling is kinda in a post apocalyptic era that has gotten worse every year since.
Think of it like that scene in Private parts where they discuss Stern’s ratings. A huge portion of the audience were people who did not like Stern but wanted to see what he does next. I started watching AEW to see what this company would do to freshen up a sport I used to watch with my dad. Instead of freshening it up. Now I find myself fast forwarding most of it.
Bret was spot on with everything he said. These are all the same reasons I i don't watch wrestling much anymore
Nick Patrick made a very good point about today’s modern wrestlers. They think, they had a good match if they remembered all their planned moves. There’s two problems with this thinking:
1. They spend too much of their match trying to remember their next move and not paying attention to selling.
2. This is my big problem with all this planning out the entire match, what happens when the fans don’t care? Hogan gets crucified because of his “lack of wrestling skill”. Yet for the majority of his career he had matches with huge crowd reaction and it was all called in the ring
I agree; older people just watch because it's a habit. It's just something they are used to.
Same here. I watch AEW and spend most of the time rolling my eyes 🙄 and complaining how illogical it is. I DVR Smackdown and fast forward through it and hit play to the LA Knight, Gunther, Bloodline parts.
@@guyhill6269 yep, pretty much the same here...
I was a Ruthless Aggression era kid, so personally I think that era was a perfect blend of Attitude Era edginess and great in-ring work. I was fortunate enough to watch one of the finest most talented roster of workers and performers in the history of not only WWE, but the business.
I dropped out when my country's one TV network took RAW and Smackdown off the air. Thanks to the internet, (and wrestling podcasts namely, Talk is Jericho and Keepin it 100) I got back into watching wrestling when I was in college. At first I was entralled by the highflying new school style. Overtime I felt myself losing interest again. The matches started to feel soo samey I started to predict em move to move. The obvious cooperation rankled. The poor selling. The terrible looking striking. Wrestlers grabbing holds that looked too loose and not even bother appearing to crank said holds.
On and on until I went on CZcams to watch stuff from my childhood. To see if the overly fake looking work was always the case or was it because I was older and could pick it out better. I was very happy to see that I was not being nostalgic. With all due respect to a number of current talent from this era, many of the current crew just don't cut it.
Ever watch Ring of Honor? Generally the most pure wrestling program in the era. Generally just very raw and rough. Yeah it has your flippy guys, some sillier characters, but for most part the most pure wrestling program outside of maybe New Japan Pro Wrestling, which itself has a very raw and realistic feel due to the ideology of Strong Style promoting making the fight look as real as possible.
@@Yunglex313 Not that I disagree one bit about ROH but I can't say I'm not concerned it doesn't become more & more unwatchable with the lack of leadership to continue what they have been historically. If TK continues to put himself in positions he's completely unqualified for instead of putting people in those positions that know what they're doing that product will decline & become more & more unwatchable
Some were fake shit even back then like one Shawn Micheals match or segment it was all fake as hell
Same situation with Raw and Smackdown being taken off the air. I remember not watching in my high school years because of it.
Well to be honest with my adult 39 year old eyes a lot of attitude era stuff I watched on CZcams looked super fake compared to my teen eyes back in the 90’s and early 2000’s. I mean that spot when stone cold beat up Vince in the hospital bed looks so ridiculously cheesy and fake with my adult eyes it’s almost laughable. But I agree the in ring fighting from the attitude era looked a lot more convincing that today’s wrestling
Bret just repeats what Disco has always said and suddenly everyone goes "Hey yeah."
Disco is totally right about the habit of watching on Monday nights. When football season is over and that’s not an option I find myself ending up on Raw no matter how good or bad it is.
I love how nobody understands numbers. The average wrestling fan is older, because they are creatures of habit. Disco is right. Wrestling is not growing, the numbers seem bigger because the metrics have expanded and the algorithms have improved, but the average trends are trending downward and older. Wrestling's niche is appealing to 18-30 drinking crowds.... That is why the Attitude Era did so well, it wasn't the explicit content specifically, it was the demo they were targeting. It gave college kids a reason to go to a live show and get hammered, and it appealed to high school kids because it seemed edgy to them... and then it appealed to their younger siblings because thats what the older kids were into.... and on the flip side people over 30 would enjoy it because it was adult enough not to be corny, but not so over the top that they couldn't take their teenager to see it.
It's counter intuitive to tradition corporate marketing strategies, but it is what makes wrestling "cool."
Balding men in their mid 30's with guts and unkempt beards is not "cool" and neither is Disney on ice in a wrestling ring, but those are the core audience in a weird way... and the only way to market to both effectively is to market in between them.
Like 95% of the wrestlers of the present-day do Superkicks while slapping their leg once their foot connects to their opponent's face.
Bret Hart did not bury Jon Moxley. Jon Moxley buried Jon Moxley.
Seriously, I can appreciate Konnan's well reasoned and even handed perspective on the matter of entertainment has always been a part of pro-wrestling but Disco is right, the contemporary norms/styles of pro-wrestling is not drawing new fans or at least not to the same degree as it once did.
To be fair, this isn't an over night development. It has been happening ever since Vince started injecting Saturday Cartoon silliness into WWF more than 3 decades ago.
A major problem in discussions about the realness/believability of pro-wrestling versus the fakeness is that it is, as Disco mentions, the suspension of disbelief, or lack thereof. People have known about pro-wrestling being a work for a long time but just like watching a blockbuster action movie, people know it's "not real". However, the most successful movies, like the most successful pro-wrestling product, doesn't take the audience member out of the moment by introducing elements that are egregiously distracting, causing the viewer to stop paying attention to the story unfolding before them, and instead start questioning the reasoning or logic of why characters chose to do or say what they did.
This is the problem. When you have overly staged sequences like awkward clambering to the top turnbuckle or rope to dive onto opponents who just stand there and wait to catch their opponent, that's hokey and goofy. When you have Moxley jabbing dinnerware into people instead of taking them down with a tackle and "fighting" them...that's the kind of problem that Bret Hart is talking about.
Yes, you can have foreign objects. Yes, you can have top rope spots. It's just that you have to see them judiciously and not several times through a program, week after week. Familiarity breeds contempt.
Additionally, it's all about the execution. It must be excellent (pun intended) for it to avoid taking viewers out of the suspension of disbelief. If a top rope spot is set up well, it means it's quickly done, that it's fluidly done, that the opponent receiving the diving attack does not have the appearance of being aware of its arrival until too late. It's not rocket science but it is an art that is nearly forgotten.
As I understand it, Bret isn't criticizing necessarily WHAT is being done but HOW it is being done. Do it poorly, yeah, the product will look silly and goofy and fake. Do it well, and it can enhance the product instead.
Jon screwed Jon
I'm at the stage where i read the results and see of anything is worth watch ..that and I will always tune into the WWE big 4 ppvs..

They had some legends kinda despised Konnan. No joke.
I'm 58, and I still watch. I take time off sometimes when it starts to get really stupid.
Bret Hart never needed to bleed to get himself over. Guys like moxley have little wrestling talent and need to resort to nonsense like this to get over
I don’t watch wrestling anymore, but I imagine older fans who still do are (in some cases) like fans of sports teams that perpetually lose. They’re used to the heartbreak, but they remember the good old days and desperately yearn to see something resembling a good matchup, and maybe once in a while they do. And the rest gives them something to complain and commiserate about.
The only thing Moxley has done outside the WWE is show us all why they let his contract expire, and that without the WWE machine behind him he's sucks.
Disco learned more backstage then Konnan did collecting percentages from luchadors
I turn off as soon as I see Moxley and yuta acting tough, absolutely cringing
The problem is also that promotions like WWE are hiring people who aren’t passionate about wrestling. They hire guys who couldn’t make it in their industry that they chose. Wether that is sports, acting etc. and that took away a lot of the products value.
Bret is only saying what Cornette was saying for years. WWE made Moxley a goof as Dean Ambrose not because they hated him but to protect Moxley from himself.
Movies are for the theater. Straight to streaming is the new straight to VHS.
The boys are collectively correct. The fact is, ratings do not tell the story on wrestling or it’s lack of popularity. It’s why Nick Khan says WWE’s competition is “everyone”-you have video games, your phone, Netflix and every other service else competing for the same households in terms of entertainment. Back in the day, when you had the boom of wrestling the entertainment landscape was different. All that said WWE just ensured it’s survival long term with the Endeavor deal. AEW, I predict will get 3 to 4 more years on his current deal and then it will either go under or Tony will get tired of it and off load it to someone. The money train will only last so long. It might even get bought by WWE/Endeavor. If you look at the ratings (which don’t tell the story but in some ways do) as social media impressions AEW has stagnated in terms of viewership or growing new fans. It’s consistently the same numbers growth and the potential for growth is what it is currently. It’s great that AEW has that niche but that’s not going to make sure it stays on television. When your product is what’s presented on TV you have to have compelling stories and characters which WWE even it’s lean years has succeeded in doing (debate that or not now Vince has a boss and even more shareholders to answer to-so if it sucks with him in creative now there will be no choice but to change). I can guarantee if the ratings drop off majorly Vince will step back. I know the narrative surrounding him is strong but he’s a sharper businessman than he’s given credit. AEW needs to course correct like yesterday if it wants to be viewed with value. In media today it’s quality over quantity.
When you have Jon Moxley, Omega, Young Bucks etc guys with zero appeal and drawing power as your top STARS, you have a product ready for the decline lmao

The thing about not being able to draw new fans is interesting…I’m sure at least some parents introduce their kids to wrestling….that being said, I was born in 1986…my dad wasn’t really into wrestling so I don’t know exactly what sparked my interest initially…I’m just glad I was around for some of wrestling’s best moments….it either clicks with you or it doesn’t…like science fiction or anything that’s considered “niche”
Hate to break it to you but sci fi is no longer niche
I watch hoping it gets better
"The television viewer" the only people that watch television is the older crowd. Everyone else does it on apps or CZcams.
Wrestling is actually creating some new fans, especially the recent WWE stuff. I’ve seen and heard about quite a few new people and even some personalities are getting into the show, it’s just a complete different audience.
Exactly
Because disco inferno dancing down to the ring sounding like a Muppet baby felt real to me damnit
Old fans are still watching for the love of wrestling in the hopes of it getting better. 😢. Just as older people now a days we have a better attention span than these young kids
I agree with disco so much to choose from now. The only “new fans” is the 90’s kids that quit watching in the mid to late 2000 and have recently started watching again.
I spent many hours yelling "Stop dancing and cover him!", but yes, Bret's opinion carries more weight. Like, really?
Exactly. C'mon Disco. 🙄
I somewhat agree with Hart. When three guys are fighting outside of the ring and then they all stop to catch the 4th guy but the 4th guy takes maybe a few extra seconds to get to the top or leap so the guys outside the ring are just stuck waiting. That bugs me a bit. Also, the fork into the head. Yeah, I don’t need that. The sound of a cookie sheet on someone’s skull still pops me
Bret Hart speaks the truth AEW is garbage and it’s BS “ inside joke “ crap is stupid.
the inside jokes/ pandering to marks stuff is just a bad idea. Why are they still doing it?
Best will always be the original of "Keeping it 100"
Bret's right. Jon Moxley is not only the worst he's ever been but he's one of the worst wrestlers in the business right now. WWE missed a bullet by not trying to re-sign him in 2022.
Bret Hart is not wrong that's why i love old school wrestling the most and all my favorite male wrestlers are legends and Bret Hart is my number 1 WWF top favorite
True
Bret’s just mad he was never as over in Canada as Halk Hogan was at Mania 18.
Bret is an OG if you don’t agree with him that’s fine, but he’s absolutely right! Things are not the same, the guy is a true wrestler/legend he knows exactly what he’s talking about!
Facts
NJPW appeals to me the most these days because it feels more adult and in-ring is more realistic than what the Americans are doing. As a bloke in his mid 30's WWE is extremely tough to watch, I've got a love for the art so I still watch regardless of the shite. I'm sure alot of the older fans would prefer AEW to WWE purely because it's aimed towards a different target audience.
Disco is spot on people just arent watching broadcast tv as much cause theres just more options. People go to wrestling shows cause its something to do not cause theyre fans.
Now, there are more fans of wrestlers because of how wealthy the wrestler is, how long the wrestler has worked for a promotion, the wrestler has a beautiful wife, or the wrestler being on a reality show.
It's true. Back in the day Wrestlemania sold out based on who was on the card and who was in the main event. Now people go to Wrestlemania just to say that they were there.
How did Disco make this about him 🤣 nobody who said Disco was wrong is automatically going to agree with Bret, they would just lump Bret in with Disco in the "old people yelling at clouds" meme they have convinced themselves is reality.
And people like Konnan enable the shitty work because "it gets pop in the arena" and "young horses are gunna run"
Bret is 100% correct as always.
Very surprised to kinda be giving Disco credit lol.. something he said was Very smart. I'll put a different spin on it.. every girlfriend, mother, sister, aunt, grandma? I've ever known? If they started watching soap operas? They watched them till they passed away. No Matter how bad the shows got.
AEW is the worst run company in history
Disco is absolutely spot on here. I watch every week to all the WWE/NXT/AEW shows just because its been a routine for me for 30+ years since I was 10 years old. Hard to change now and just not watch anymore.
Then you need to touch grass. Internet is there CZcams, daily motion and many are there.
@@dranzerjetli5126 ??? Don't understand.
Why is Disco Inferno doubting why Bret Hart has more credibility than him, especially about wrestling??
