How Many Universes Can Spider-Man Save?

- Since his inception, Spider-Man has been one of the most popular superheroes to grace a comic book or silver screen. Though because of a tough few years at Marvel, the rights to Spider-Man were sold off and later reclaimed causing the creation of multiple Spier-Man universes. Though some are great, and some are terrible, how exactly is Spider-Man supposed to save so many floundering cinematic universes?

The reason why the original trilogy worked was because of Laura Ziskin
It was because of her and her husband (the screenwriter Alvin Sargent) that the movies had depth
Sadly, she died in 2011, during the production of TASM1
She was the only one at the time that cared about quality rather than quantity or toys sales
Avi Arad cared more about toys sales than storytelling
That's why 2005s Fantastic Four didn't work
Someone please resurrect Laura Ziskin. Please and Thank You. Spidey 2 2004 is the best Spidey movie, change my mind.
That's why we hate Avi Arad for caring more about toy sales
I’ve lost faith in Sony, they should work out deal with Disney, they’re diluting comic book movies in a way that would make WB blush
Fr. Marvel actually cares about correcting their mistakes and improving the quality of their films. Sony...doesn't.
Disney hasn’t had the best track record either but yeah better than Sony.
Kevin Fagie wants to make a universe of films whereas Avi Arad wants to just make money
@@user-xp3mn9we3m idk what universe YOU live in, but both are fucking everything up.
Have you recently seen the marvel garbage that Disney's been spewing?? I mean yes Sony really messed up this attempt of madame web, but Disney haven't particularly been great since endgame, they are putting up too much content, too frequently, to enjoy a show or movie coming up, there's just too much multiverse crap going around that has literally diluted the concept in my opinion, sony being crap at their job doesn't automatically exonerate Marvel's recent attempts of continuing the MCU, they should just take a slight break and come up with engaging content, for e.g, did you really enjoy She Hulk or the secret invasion, or thor love and thunder or antman 3, even wakanda forever was quite terrible, as someone who has been following the series since Iron Man 2008 the series lost most of its charm ,if not all ,post endgame, it just all seems like an extended death of the franchise
There's a video by nerdstalgic about the very topic i mentioned so perhaps give that video a watch too
VENOM had the writer from 50 SHADES OF GREY (who is also directing VENOM 3)
MORBIUS had the writers from GODS OF EGYPT (Who are also behind MADAME WEB)
And KRAVEN THE HUNTER has the writers from TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT
AVI ARAD ruined everything again
And he isn't even involved in MADAME WEB
Shut the SSU down, Avi. We don't need it. You are ruining cinema. Look at what you have done with Ghost of the Shell: The Live Action Movie.
He has no clue what he is doing.
@@mangaloveranix8412
Don't forget Uncharted
@@Zombiesnyder13 that movie is crap with Tom Holland. Thanks to that failure, Tom got into the MCU as MCU Spiderman.
Good lord no!!!! 😱
I think No Way Home and Spiderverse show a blueprint of how to keep Spiderman involved but not obersaturate the character.
Both feature multiple versions (sometimes hundreds) of spiderpeople sharing the screen, and at no point in either movie did fans become confused or overwhelmed. It's about acknowledging the existence of other spider people and focusing on their uniqueness among the web of similarities.
nice pun lol
The biggest problem with so many versions, is a lack of people working on these projects that know and respect the source material. The more universes, the harder to find a person/team that can do the material justice.
What Sony really needs to do is put Phil Lord and Chris Miller in charge of their everything
Both the animated and the live-action
They're the only ones that know what they're doing
even if you put Lord Miller for everything Spiderman, they won't make it, Sony don't let them do the way they want to do
@@madhukarg8052 then why Spiderverse worked?
@@LeonardoKlotz simple answer Amy Pascal, if she is still with Sony then I will agree with you,
@@LeonardoKlotz she wanted to make a animated Spiderman movie after the TASM2, which eventually became into the Spiderverse

5:31 Actually, Into the Spider-Verse came out in 2018.
I thought I had gone to a different timeline when I saw that 😂
you should make a video on the following topics -
1. how NCIS has been loved for 21 seasons now
2. any video about suits tv show
If Sony wanted to make money, they’d make Andrew Garfield the main Spider-Man for their movies. A Logan style 4th movie for Tobey with Kraven, even use Aaron Taylor Johnson if they want. Then make a small scale 4th movie for Tom that builds to an Spider-Verse event movie or have Miles and the other Sony Universe characters make cameos in the fight scenes in Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars.
andrew garfield sucked get over it sony is not getting him.
@@final_boss1715He literally ran circles around the other two Spider-Men in No Way Home. And I’m a mainly Tobey fan.

Disney and Sony should negotiate the film rights to Spider-Man. Have Disney & Marvel Studios handle live action Spider-Man movies while Sony can handle the "animation" side of things because it's been pretty clear for a while now that Sony can't make good live action Spider-Man movie (not since Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2) and Madame Web further proves the point which is why they should stick with animation as Into & Across the SpiderVerse are the best movies Sony made
Directing "Kraven The Hunter" is a career suicide for JC Chandor
5:29 Actually Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse release on 2018 not 2019
Did this post later than intended? Madame Web has been out for almost a week (and absolutely B O M B E D)
Wonder how this guy feels now that Madame Web is actually out 😂
Spider-Man 4 and TASM 3 are guaranteed to make a profit but first they need to hire people who can actually write a good script to get the actors back on board.
But most importantly
They must get rid of Avi Arad
Can you make a video “The problem with Age of Ultron”?
Great video.
For Sony, it ain't morbin' time anymore.
Sorry for the nitpicks but Spider-Man No Way Home is the 4th film in Phase 4 of the MCU and not phase 5 and Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse was released in 2018
Peter Parker isn’t featured in the second miles movie. That’s Peter B parker
It's still A Peter parker
who is from 616 (not the same 616 from the comics)
Kinda got tired of Spidey after the movies Emma Stone was in. Still haven't seen the Tom Holland ones but the Spiderverse stuff was great
Personally, I'll watch as many Spider-Man movies/shows as they make. I love every iteration of Spider-Man I've come across. However, I do understand how it can be confusing for others. My only hope is that they still have good stories at the end of the day.
I don't think Marvel wanted Spider-Man: Far from Home to release when it did. Sony has final say on when those movies come out (even though they aren't fully in charge when it comes to creative decisions).
It feels like the writing’s on the wall with Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (as well as their handling of their films made without Marvel Studios): When their only major successes are the animated Spider-Verse films, it’s perfectly clear that it’s not the side character spin-offs that fans care about, it’s the films starring Spider-Man himself.
I love spider man's comic and its story. Seriously there's a lot of interesting spider man instead of the usual nerdy peter parker. Also maybe it is time for a spiderwoman origin story in movie format, jessica drew or julia carpenter who both such a fan favourite and with different skill sets from regular spiderman.
Spider verse came out in 2018 not 2019
How many Universes can Peter Parker save?
Who’s Peter Parker
@@funminer8453Iron Man.
@@funminer8453 Either a smart No Way Home joke, or you seriously don't know a thing about Marvel.
@funminer8453, it’s Spider-Man’s real name
I loved both Tobey and Andrew as spiderman, and I even love TASM 2 despite it's kinda messy and ultimately it could've been a different film based on the quantity of deleted scenes plus a few other that were shot. I like Tom as spiderman but he doesn't convince me 100%. The MCU has never treated his version as he was able to carry the whole movie like Tobey and Andrew did. Instead, his first two films felt more like Iron Man Spinoffs that "standalone small stakes" story, and the fact that he's kind of an annoying teenager didn't help his cause. IF the MCU manage to pull off a fourth movie I hope they give the character the respect it deserves and the standalone movie it needs
Sony or marvel must must have to make a joker level villain for spiderman by giving solo villain movies
Oh I very much think the fate of Madame Web was determined my friend lol truly ironic to have a movie about a clairvoyant hero do so bad
I am all for any Spider-man content. In my youth, when the only place you'd see the character is in the funnies, there was still a major saturation. With more titles and stories and crossovers than most fanboys could possibly deal with back then up until currently... Modern cinema is just the natural extension with the tech
In other universes producers never canceled Spider-Man 4 by Sam Raimi. Movie is huge succes in box office because is good - this my universe where I want to live :)
Greetings!
Sony should just hire some good writers and if they have villains tell some villain stories. Tell a scarlet Spider story and move forward from their have the clone take over the Sony universe for a bit.
Into The Spiderverse came out in 2018
Into the Spider-Verse was released December of 2018 in the US.
Not sure if you heard but Sony or Disney kind of admitted that now they are trying to kill it include the madame web movies so if it does not like the comics blame them.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse came out in 2018, not 2019
At this point, i think that Marvel should handle all live action projects while Sony focuses on the animated Spider-Verse
I just find it ironic that, in terms of both box-office and critical-returns, the most successful 'S-M' movie so far is indeed the animated one. =) ; )
I don't know why Sony doesn't just make a Spider-Man 2099 movie.
The real villain is copyright law. Make the best product or let others do it. Imagine these movies coming out alongside A24's version of Spiderman
Spider-verse came out in 2018.
I honestly hope they do Spider-Man Noir justice, he was a favorite of mine
Idk alot and age of ultron is great and peters moms name is mary? Funny 7:30 i don't think thats true i think it could all be good but it probably won't be
At least three.
It boils down to Sony not having confidence or a damn clue on what to do with any Spider-Man characters. Just tell a good story, don’t worry about building some big universe…
Madame Web will make a webillion dollars!
Sadly but also, great pun man.
Sony needs so much help, I don't know where to even begin
I wouldn't say that Sony is stretching the Wall-crawler too thin, but more the universe or cast of characters. I will never get tired of seeing Spider-Man show up in live-action or animation. He's just that popular and I enjoy seeing a good portrayal of the character. That said, Sony is trying to build a universe with not as interesting of characters or basically trying to do too much too quickly. Madame Web isn't that interesting of a character to me. She's just not and so I was never interested to see her movie. Likewise I am a huge Venom fan, but both movies were meh and just felt weird to me. How can you have a Venom origin without Spider-Man? That's what I mean. They are trying to build a world involving these other characters, but when these other characters are so rooted in the main character's story, it becomes difficult to make a film about them. Kraven I enjoy as a character rather much, but at this point I gave up that Sony can confidently make a universe. I'm just not that interested in their projects anymore aside from the animated ones. They still want to make a Sinister Six movie, but again without Spider-Man. I doubt that will work too. Most of the problems the other live-action movies failed with is trying to build to a larger world too quickly or studio melding. So really, Sony is just trying to expand this world to hold onto the IP and it's showing. Spidey can do a lot of things, but he can't save a world when idiot executives are running the show. My only hope is that their next several films tank so badly like Morbius and Madame Web that they start considering selling the rights. Well after Beyond the Spider-verse comes out obviously
8:03 fin.
As many as Marvel's worth for, there are hundred of multiversal spider-man in comics. It's a long way of movies that there will be, depending on the greedyness of the companies it can either mean good movies or bad movies. Unforutnately, we can only vote with our wallets to force those greedy companies into producing content that is worth watching.
It's surprising how consistent the spiderman movies are while everything else is the cinematic equivalent of two planes flying straight into each other.
I strongly disagre whit the conclusion of the video. The only bad spider-man media recently has been exactly the one that doesn’t include him (the Sonyverse) they need to either put a new actor in the spidey suit or bring Andrew as the titular hero of their “venonverse”
Marvel should add more requirements for Sony to keep the Spider-Man license. If the Spider-Man movies flop at the box office for three consecutive films, Marvel should revoke the license.
Not to be that guy, but Into the Spider-Verse came out in 2018.
Whenever DECU and MCU are in trouble, they go back to their most bankable Superheroes, Batman and Spiderman.
Spidey is the Batman of the MCU. Automatic dub if you give even 50% effort
“Despite civil war having the entire avengers cast”
You forgot 1/3 of the original 6
Also spiderman into the spider verse came out in 2018
What if they did a universe that resembles a fan film and the Spider-Man of that universe ends up being Dan Poole? And the whole atmosphere looks shoddily filmed to sell the amateur style.
Doesn’t Sony with amazon make The Boys ? They should just focus on that , they’ve done really good with it
4:10 MCU phase four
YES!!!
Sony wants money from Marvel's Spiderman as their own money tree desperately. They are way too greedy from surely understanding Marvel has Marvel Studios, which keeps any and every one of their characters checked and ready-to-go out of 100% profit away from licensing out their properties to third-partied companies. Sony is to make Spiderman movies every 3-5 years to gain movie money while Marvel keeps the merch sales for extra cash.
As a Spider-Man fan, I instantly think Sony is draining Spidey dry in live action presumptiously and animation bleakly. Sony wants the SSU to center on Spiderman, but given to trade-offs with Marvel Studios, the SSU focuses on rogue antagonists and neutrals, such as Madame Web and Venom. Every hero has a value of balenced immortality. Like you said, "If you remove Spiderman [out of the scope in your story], what story are you telling us about?" or something like that? If they think about Spidey, at least they probably shall not start universes by making a series of movies starting with Raimi and not overload cast members for simple cash, then with Webb, and finally within the MCU so Spidey can mature or grow up, facing the Sinister Six, as those movies break the mold sequel by sequel, time to time, effort to effort, step by step in consistency and coherence. If Sony misses a mark on Spidey massively, then no more Spidey to them. Marvel will swipe him away for the MCU and that will throw away Sony's plans into the trash can, never to get discovered again. Sony, just focus on animation projects with Spidey mainly to break the mold like how and why DC does with The Batman. You don't need a world filled with a rogue gallery of creeps and thugs and familiar people we know from comics in live action connected to an arachne guy at high school and the newspaper corporation who is swinging out there to be the best version of himself, Sony. You are getting belibeli by eating rice without stew or soup, rigorously betting you will survive while you will not at the end.
Are we ready for MCU Spider-Man's fourth movie and Spider-Man Beyond the Spider-Verse? I think Madame Web is pretty eligible for me to watch in order to see where Sony's going with the Spidey movie rights without Pete Spidey into the MCU once and that's it once for all. Who knows about Madame Web getting that as her movie without Peter Spiderman or any good Spiderman? It is 3/10 trash for me.
they should make a sub studio for Spiderman ( like Ghost Corps for Ghostbusters ) and merge that with MCU and get a 10 percent ownership of Marvel overall, come on Sony you guys are fucking loosing it, do what I said and be happy
Mcu greatness
Web already been out like over a week
5:30 2018
Sony need to hire people who actually care for the IP then stay out of production. It amazes me how Sony created the Spider-Verse films and then Madame Web. And stop green lighting movies that no one cares for.
I genuinely think spiderman and Deadpool ❤ spideypool!!!!
ABOUT 13 OF EM
Sony needs to be stopped.
I just want to watch beyond the spiderverse man
I don't think anyone is worried about Madame Web spoilers 😂
GYAT
Dude sorry but nwh was phase 4 not phase 5 and Into the spiderverse was 2018 not 2019…
3:13 one quick correction, Marvel didn't want to nake Far From Home, Sony pushed it, which is why its the weakest of the MCU Spidey movies
A lot
Avi Arad was behind poor X-Men films
Does anybody trust him handling Spider-Man films
They need to start respecting the source material more.
It's a shame that with every subsequent appearance of Peter in the MCU, the less like Spider-Man he became. They ripped out all his classic narrative tropes, took away his independence by making him an apprentice to fucking Iron Man of all people, took away his supporting cast for underdeveloped characters, took away all the drama that his double life creates. What a disappointment he ended up being. It's like they were afraid to make a Spider-Man story for Spider-Man! Also, FFH SUCKS!
Fun fact: Four of the BEST Spider-Man movies were made by Sony without ANY involvement from Marvel Studios...
I like some of the sony marvel movies, but what the fuck do they know about spider-man?
5:38 third
Yea nah
Couldn't Sony still retain the rights of spiderman from their Game div which makes interactive movies anyway & it still counts as use of IP to retain it , no? Just schedule a animated movie like Spiderverse Sometime inbetween the game's production and scheduled release.
They are still using the IP and they don't have to make these bad LA B-movies and be the bottom of the Joke.
So the responsibility saying for Current W3stern run sony LA movies ( including Marvel as well post endgame ) should be "with terrible movies comes great memes"
OR if they really want to do LA movies so badly then just take up the R-rated marvel chars back in days of Marvel pre-disneyfication and make those movies/shows completely on R-rated / mature on ur side and then tie-in with MCU if u are deadset on making LA ones.
Cause looking at marvel under dudney , how it handles it Mature / R-Rated material and waters it down to somewhat of Psuedo Pg-13 movies which is a mix of R / M & PG ratings satisfying neither one of crowd like Deadpool is reduced to basically the "Mask of the MCU" but more serious yet a jokester.
At this point, I think people are going to see Madame Web just to witness how awful it actually is. Marketing wins once again.
You keep the Miles Morales movies out of this, mister. The rest ARE sus, though.
Madame Web is screwed, change my mind.
I'm not hating the movie or anything...just saying with today's internet, everyone's going to inevitably hate it anyway.
Gaurdians of the Galaxy movies were much more entertaining than the spidey movies.
The Spider verse was already saved, Madame Web ruined it.
Madam web made 6million on opening day vs no way home made 120million, so i think you can say Madam web is a flop
The only reason they keep making these crappy movies is because they will lose the license for this character if they don't use it. It'll revert back to Disney and Sony doesn't want to let that happen. They'd rather run it into the ground and make it totally unprofitable than to give Disney a win. Bad thinking. They COULD share it the way they did with Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame and get part of something instead of what they're going to end up with in the end, 100% of nothing.
Pretty sure you're good re: Madame Web spoilers... No one is going to watch that s**t
"Slightly disappointing age of ultron?!" The fuck you taking about? Age of Ultron was great!
He was saying it on behalf of some audiences. You see, it was well-received, but often regarded as the weakest Avengers film
I'm still disappointed that the CLOSEST we've gotten to a Comic accurate Spidey was Sam Rami's in the 2000s.
Hate Tom Holland’s version the most for this. Hopefully the soft reboot changes things!
Sony is murdering the franchise 🤣
Sony has for over 10 fucking years now been so desperate for their own MCU and I'm impressed they just keep trucking along. I can promise you they're just waiting on pulling the trigger to get away from the MCU and go back to making their own proper Spider-Man movies, and I dread that day. Like we're already about to have Hugh Jackman and Toby Maguire come back and have everybody shit themselves and clap in the theaters because "OH MY GOD MY CHILDHOOD DREAMS" in Kang Dynasty, and I can already promise you they'll either have Tom Holland in Venom 3 or Tom Hardy in Spider-Man 4/Secret Wars just so people can shit themselves over that. Sony should just perma merge their trash little Sony Cinematic Universe after Battleworld gets undone in Secret Wars and they retroactively change the history of the MCU, they should just take the L and grab the free money. Keep the Rights, make their own shitty little movies but just set them in the MCU proper.
Spiderman vs Godzilla 😂😂😂 location Japan
I just want Tobey SM4 and TASM3 that's literally all I want.😭
