None of them were trying to be better than the others, they all complimented and lifted each other up. Tobey helping Andrew with his self esteem was so sweet.

I didn't care for Andrew's movies but.... I was gonna give a few examples of what I liked about his movies, but I honestly can't think of anything. He's good in this movie though.
Andrew's acting was good. There we go. I thought of a positive.
This is the most natural dialogue I've heard in a Marvel flick. No quips, no sass, just three dudes talking. None of that usual Marvel "Well that just happened" schtick people mock.
That's probably because it was an improv scene. This film had a lot of them that the directors went "Yeah, we're keeping that in."
As an example, MJ throwing bread at Andrew Garfield was an experimentation on how to convince him to show his spidey sense. She legit asked on set if she can throw bread at him XD

It certainly feels like the director allowed the three Spidey actors to just speak whatever the hell comes natural to them and the ensuing banter is what we see here. This proves just how terrific the chemistry is between the three guys. I want to see them work together again in a different movie where they portray brothers!
I always loved how Tobey says "That'll do it" as if he's acknowledging the absurdity of how these guys get their powers 😂
Honestly one of my favorite joke. Like, welp i've seen a man fall into a sand experiment and turn into sandman so, yeah, seems on point.
It reminds me of when he says "where do these guys come from" IN SPIDERMAN 3

Andrew Garfield was never a bad Spider-Man. We’re his movies underwhelming? Maybe. Was HE underwhelming? No. He was a great Spider-Man and I’m glad he got a stage to show it.

I get what you mean. It was clear they were all enjoying the conversation, it looked improvised, but so funny and cool too! I couldn't stop crying and laughing! Childhood was made when all three of them came together!

That's what makes this so natural. Like there was never a plan when initially developing each of them to ever meet. So they just naturally have chemistry by acting like themselves around each other and not some weird writing to force it

Tobey was an already completely grown up Spiderman. Andrew was halfway, had already learned but emotionally struggling from his past mistakes. And Tom was still learning from mistakes. Perfect crossover.

It's sweet how giddy Andrew's Peter is this whole scene.
It's clear he is still mourning Gwen & doesn't seem to be in a good place as Spider or Peter. But being around these two who relate to & fascinate him has given him the most genuine happiness & friendship he's felt in ages. So despite his bad place, he is (for a bit) genuinely happy here.
My favorite detail about this entire movie is how Andrew and Tobey are essentially the ultimate cavalry at Tom's darkest moment.

I love how Tom is the youngest but has had arguably the most epic battles between the three but he's still like a super fan of the other two and what they've done
that even though he’s had the most intense battles, the other two are still the more battlehoned simply just because of their age and experience. And also they largely were own their own, no team or father figure mentor who is also superhero to help groom them

I will never get over Tobey’s Spider-Man telling Andrew’s that he is amazing. I think that’s just a special moment for Andrew himself because his movies were not received well but many agree that his performances were the best parts about them.

This movie evolved Tom's Peter, allowed Andrew's Peter to get his redemption and made Tobey's Peter more charismatic and closer to the comics. What a fantastic triple feature

@@Fackunator his character is perfect in the second film. He has the perfect attitude and witticisms in the suit when the narrative requires it, and most importantly he knows when to shut the f- up to not rob legitimately emotional or enticing scenes of their punch.
It was his early days in SM1 and his character is an abomination in SM3 but he is about as faithful as it gets in SM2.
@@Fackunator Did you even watch the Raimi movies? Because he showed much flexibility and he DID make wisecracking remarks, but only when it was appropriate. As for being charismatic, Peter wasn't that charismatic in the comics. It took him a long time to even get confident. And Raimi's Peter gets more confident with each movie, that's the point. It's called character development.
When Tobey Maguire said: "You are truly The Amazing Spiderman!" I shed a tear. Truly a moment of all times

This scene alone made this movie a phenomenon. It wasn't just 3 actors talking, it was 3 spiderman having a simple chat about their lives and experiences, all their life struggles have lead them to this moment

It feels real though like, that sounds like a group of new friends trading stories. "oh yeah i fought an alien" -processes he mentioned it was made of black goo- "he was purple"
What I love about this scene is it feels so natural to me. Like it feels like it's improvised with only direction given being "just have a random conversation as your characters until we decide to move on".
I'm almost convinced that's exactly what happened. No script, cameras rolled, and they were just told to talk naturally in character. That's probably why there's very little editing and music throughout the whole scene, going for that natural conversation vibe.

This movie was such an experience in the cinemas, bringing all three generations of Spider-Man fans together was such a joyride from start to finish.

The Amazing Spiderman (TASM) is the best spider franchise ever. It was full of intense fast action and great plots. I wish they could have continued it. It'd have been much better than Tobey's and Tom's spider franchises.

Spider man 2 (Andrew): quicker reflexes, faster swinger and more acrobatic.
Spider man 3 (tom)- better gadgets, and has better spider sense.

I never really got the hate. I enjoyed both of Garfield's Spidey movies, even with the dubstep Electro thing. He deserved a third movie. We need one of him finding either his universe's MJ or making it actually work with Black Cat.
I had my issues with the TASM movies, especially the second one. But Andrew Garfield was never one of them. He was great as Peter. Actually, if you watch some of the deleted scenes from the first one, you can sort of see how the film could've been saved if they didn't cut so much out. The second one was beyond redemption, but again, not Garfield's fault. He did an excellent job with the material he was given.
@@jaffarebellion292 This is a mindset that I think many nerds should have, just because the film is bad doesn't mean the actors should be bullied for it.
Seeing all three together, like brothers, was so wholesome. This movie, although not perfect, has a soul.
More movies need character interactions like this. Nothing flashy, just characters chatting like normal folk do. Brings a legitimacy to the interactions and makes it feel more real and relatable.
It adds, dare i say it, more humanity to the characters when they have small moments like this between the big fights. It's one reason I like Thor: Ragnarok for example. The scene with Loki and Thor in the elevator is another scene like this done just right for exactly the same reason, at least imo. No over the top chaotic action, very minimal if any cgi edits, just two bros talking and bonding over thir shared pasts.
It's my childhood, teenhood, and adulthood all in one package. This is awesome.

I was a toddler when Tobey Maguire Spider-Man came out. Then I was a preteen when Andrew Garfield Spider-Man came out. And then a late teenager when Tom Holland Spider-Man came out.

Seeing Spider-man coming to MCU in 2016 was quite a slap for me and my friends. I didn't even see the Amazing Spider-man movies and I wondered back then why they changed the actor again.
It's not everyday you get a movie with all three Spider-Man in one screen.
No Way Home will always have a special place in my heart
The sibbing bond between these peters is wholesome as hell, the calm before the storm that is facing off against their respective villains in the next moment over.
Tobey, Tom, and Andrew really knocked it out of the park from start to finish.

The magic of this scene is that it feels unscripted. Obviously its not. But it's done in a way where it feels like Jon Watts just switched the camera on and told them to have a random conversation as their characters.

I honestly could watch a whole movie like this.
The best part is that it's not just blind fanservice. Tobey's Peter has had his happy ending and is looking out for the younger generation. Andrew's suffered a bad ending and doesn't want that fate for Tom's. They're 3 different journeys meeting at a crossroad: one near its end, one midway through, and one really only just beginning.
I could watch all 3 Spider-Men talking about their journeys for an hour and I wouldn't be bored.
4-5 hours 🙂

I love how they are so much like brothers. Tobey is the older sibling who is always there encouraging but give space for his younger siblings to learn. Andrew is the middle child who has no clue how much his siblings care and doubts himself all the time but his bros have his back. And Tom is the young, crazy and one who wants to do so much but his brothers help ground him to help him see where he is and what they can do together also in letting him know they understand.

As the youngest of three brothers, this scene hit home so much in that regard. Fantastic chemistry between these three as both Peters and even actors I imagine. Elevated all three of them on this movie in my opinion.

Only other Spider-Men could understand the loneliness and isolation that Spider-man goes through. This was a family moment for all of them.
Seeing three Spider-Men hanging out and giving each other compliments and reassuring each other is just so awesome!
This is what TRUE fan service looks like. Not just throwing a reference/cameo in to say "see? Look! You like this, right? That makes this good!" But rather, something that is worked into the story, enhances it and even furthers it. MCU Spidey takes from what he learns from/shares with Tobey and Andrew and uses it to help himself become a better hero. Even in the final scene, in his new homemade costume, the design of the costume is a hybrid of his old suits and the suits of Tobey and Andrew. Best Spidey film yet, but across the spider verse is coming so, we'll see.
Probably gonna have to count parts 1 and 2 of across the spider-verse together.

@@Microfoot spiderverse is good but the diference is that spiderverse is a new franchise with completly new characters, just imagine if instead of like spider pork the spider-man from the original 90s tv show, the one from spider-man unlimited and the ones from the spectacular spider-Man apeared as main characters and continued the plot threads from those shows and bringed some of their villains back for more , that is the diference between spiderverse and no way home

Best thing this movie did was not have Andrew and Toney be cameos but actually have a part of the story. Both redemption arcs, Andrew’s Peter saving MJ and Tobey’s Peter helping Tom’s not succumb to revenge like he did and also being able to save Norman this time

Favorite scene, in the entire film, right here. The three of them, bouncing off of each other. Comparing abilities, accomplishments, victories, etc. It was such a great moment of calm before the storm.

Love how he picks "amazing". Not only was he giving positive reinforcement. Andrew actually the Amazing Spider-Man, which itself was a throw back to the comic names. I love when layered references come out so layered.
The chemistry between these three is either unreal talent or just natural. The banter feels so...smooth...natural...unforced. Just an amazing scene.

The whole 'You're amazing' bit to Andrew is probably my favorite moment in the movie. His Spidey has always existed in this awkward limbo where the movies are... divisive, but people generally recognize the acting as great, and I love that they own up to the fact. It's a great bit of meta humor that doesn't feel forced.
I don't want to be that guy, but I don't think it goes that deep. It's just that out of the three, he's the only one with one of Spidey iconic adjectives in his films titles.

The use of the word 'amazing' definitely wasn't an accident, though. Short of confirmation from the filmmakers themselves, I don't think we can say anything with certainty- although authorial intent doesn't dictate whether we can find extra meaning, in my eyes.
Also, by virtue of the fact you disagreed with me in a completely civil way, you're definitely not 'that guy'. It's refreshing to have someone on the internet argue a point respectfully.

The chemistry between the three Peter Parkers/Spider-Men is AWESOME, BEAUTIFUL, and ADORABLE. When Andrew's Spidey said, "I always wanted brothers," that was SO SWEET. Their interactions are that of brothers. Notably, the character of Peter Parker/Spider-Man is an only child. He wouldn't know what it's like to have a sibling. Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland all have siblings. I could be wrong, but given their interactions, they probably used their relationships with their siblings to form the brotherly bond between their versions of the character.
What's even cooler is that they're now good friends in real life too. Tom and Tobey both congratulated Andrew on his Oscar nom for his performance in Tick Tick Boom, and Tobey and Andrew still go to the movies together. They were recently spotted at a screening for Everything Everywhere.

I think it's natural for these three actors to become good friends in real life because they all had to embody and take on a particular character that's very compelling and powerful, and they each know what it's like to dig deep into Peter Parker/Spider-Man. They each ended up adding more depth to the character. And together, they added even more depth to the character.

@@jackcolgan3486 Same here. Before this film was ever created and released, I’ve always wondered what their interactions would be like if they ever met each other. I was concerned that it probably would’ve come across as one-sided or off-putting. Thankfully, that’s not the case, and their chemistry is AMAZING. Their interactions definitely feel so natural. In this scene, as other fans are saying, one of the best things about it is that their conversation comes across as a regular conversation that people have in real life. I, too, could watch them and hear them talk for hours and never get bored. Another thing that other fans are saying, I would love to see, either, a Spider-Man film where it’s just the three of them. Or, for me personally, another film that’s not Spider-Man related where they are portraying brothers.
That was the best parts of the film. The character interactions. It's like for every scene there was at least one or two lines you could tell the actor figured would be a good addition. Particularly with Willem Dafoe and Andrew Garfield. It felt like each actor was told to get super into character and just respond how they think their character should respond and it worked so well.
I love when Tobey calls Andrew “amazing”. Excellent writing there 😂
I love how they put all 2 spiderman from the past. So it shows that it not reboot or being ignored. It is a follow-up story. That a brilliant idea.

Notice that whenever either of the Peter Parkers/Spider-Men say something bad about himself, it emotionally affects the others. Besides this scene, when the three of them meet for the first time during the scene where Tom’s Peter Parker was mourning Aunt May on his school’s roof, Tom was putting himself down in anger and sadness which basically caused Tobey to develop tears in his eyes and Andrew to burst into tears. And within the same scene, Andrew tearfully tells Tom what he’s been through and tells him that he doesn’t want him to make the same mistakes he’s made, and this causes Tom to burst back into tears. So, this is showing that the three Spideys have an emotional connection to one another.

So glad they took the time to give us the Spider-Men talking. No cheesy jokes or forced stuff. Just feels like a normal convo. Also this scene is basically how it would go if any of us meet alternative versions of ourselves.
That could work if you don't end up meeting with alternative versions of yourself that didn't become evil in his or hers universe.
If I would meet an alternative version myself I always imagined it would go like it was in this movie. We would lift each other up and ask who did what in their own universes and compare stuff. Like "complete strangers" talking to each other which happen to be from the same blood-line in a way.
I still wish Tobey said “You are amazing! You are The Amazing Spider-man! Could you tell yourself that?”

“You are amazing” is also a reference to the line Mary-Jane Watson said to Peter Two (Tobey) just before she did the upside-down kiss with him in SM1.

And the "my back" joke in Spider-Man 2 was itself a reference to the fact that Tobey actually injured his back while filming the movie and it was uncertain if he'd be able to continue with the role. Luckily he was and Sam Raimi suggested they put a gag referencing that in the movie.
