Thank you for this! My doctor told me that because I am a black man ... I am destined to have high blood pressure. I eat a very clean diet and exercise regularly ... sleep well ... etc. Through a ton of research, I was able to piece together much of the information in this presentation. Insulin Resistance is the issue. I always found that after going on a 2 to three-day fast, my blood pressure would always drop to a normal range. To prove the point, I sent the results to my doctor and he no longer tried to offer me meds. ... Fasting and low insulin levels also seem to improve parasympathetic tone constantly giving me Higher HRV scores ... took me years to figure this stuff out ... Insulin insulin insulin is the issue ... First video I have found that puts all of my research together

    • @AdventureAwaits972
      @AdventureAwaits972 Před rokem +2

@@simplysarah0310 This is a long response ... was hard to put in just a few words
The parasympathetic nervous system is a component of the autonomic nervous system where your body is in a more relaxed state … “rest and digestion mode”.
In contrast, the sympathetic nervous system drives the “fight or flight” response in stressful situations.
The autonomic nervous system regulates involuntary physiologic processes including heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, digestion, and sexual arousal
Simply put, the autonomic nervous system (parasympathetic and sympathetic) regulate and influence the stuff below our conscious awareness … blood pressure, heart rate, digestion, breathing …
For example, sympathetic flow caused by stress or even perceived stress will increase blood pressure. Parasympathetic flow is associated with a decrease in blood pressure
One way to get at / measure the quality of being more balanced … with good parasympathetic tone … relaxed … is to track your heart rate variability (HRV) with a fitness tracker. HRV is simply a measure of the variation in time between each heartbeat. This variation is controlled by a primitive part of the nervous system … the autonomic nervous system (ANS)

Periodontal disease is rampant and is always an uphill battle to control when diabetes is a factor. This gives me good studies and verbiage to utilize with my patients. On a personal note, my husband has been following a animal based diet for exactly 7 weeks today. His bp has been high for over 7 years even on medications. The last two days his numbers were UNDER 120/80! He has lost 20lbs while being satiated. He had been off them for four years, but he started drinking more, hes had untreated sleep apnea for who knows how long, and sure enough all his issues are back. Sad. Now he has to recover from a stroke and reverse all these conditions yet again. Hes been good about not eating seed oils, but he added back white rice and butter bread. I'd say the alcohol, lack of exercise, and apnea are the real culprits in his stroke.

Gerry, I started out with a blood pressure of 190/110. This was after I gave birth to my third child after I stopped taking better care of myself and had gained weight. I started out taking medications per my primary care physician. I was in my early 40s and I just hated the thought of being dependent on medications at such an early age. I started out eating keto which helped to decrease my blood pressure and also I was losing weight as a result. As keto became my mainstay, I started to familiarize myself with some of the CZcams leaders regarding keto which landed me with Paul. At the time, Paul was a proponent of the carnivore diet and I tried that. I loved it because I was tired of counting grams of carbs and having to count macros all the time. Carnivore allowed me to eat until I was satiated and I loved that. My blood pressure continued to be controlled while maintaining carnivore and exercise. As Paul started adding fruit and honey, I just fell in love because I felt I had the freedom to enjoy “sweets” again while still allowing me to feel great. The animal based diet has worked so much for me. My pressures can read as low as 110/70!

I am 49 yo and had high blood pressure…well forever. I never had a normal BP reading since I got it first measured in my teen years. Been on meds for over 20 years at least. Went keto and all my markers returned to normal quickly except my BP. It took well over a year but it has FINALLY normalized. my insulin dropped soon after starting keto, so I am not sure why BP took so long. Must have been some underlying metabolic damage that took time to heal on keto? IDK. Just wanted to let people know that it may take a while to resolve hypertension, so don’t quit keto and give it time. Anyone that has any theory as to why it took over a year for me, please reply.

@@edmahonejr.9364 This is my theory as well. The damage done over 40 years of eating the Modern western diet cannot be expected to reverse itself as quickly as the blood lipid markers. Hoping there has been healing in my cardiovascular system over the last year and half and that has allowed my recent improvement in blood pressure. Maybe some additional Nitric oxide production as well, since the endothelial lining produces NO and sugar is known to interfere with its production. PS, and maybe a little TMI, but my bouts with ED have also been solved--probably through the mechanisms above. Can't say that I am not thrilled about that too!

I am carnivore and adjusting all metabolic functions but last night, after the passing of my niece after her 2 year battle with cancer and living in our home, I used that as an excuse to fall of the wagon so to speak.... Big feed on Thai food, a few glasses of wine... insulin spiked, blood pressure spiked, and this morning I feel like CACK... (medical term lol) ... back on the wagon right now, I have another 15 pounds to lose, weight training and feel great normally but need to get the rest of the blubber off, most visceral at the moment, and I am betting my blood pressure will finally normalize... I certainly proved one thing... carbs are addictive and your brain will make any excuse to go back to your former eating patterns.... comfort food is BS (LOL I sound like Paul!) ...ok, off to eat a ribeye and eggs.

What a lecture. I finally understood the contradictory effects of TDZs on adipose tissue. All the rational makes perfect sense. What do you think about the hypothesis from Peter Dobromylskyj? So, to fit into your hypothesis, LA would first increase insulin sensitivity up to the point when the adipose cells get "broken", you are now obese, adipose tissue leaks FA and inflammatory mediators, and insulin resistance manifest.

Ok. Good news bad news. I started following you and liver Kings advice. I had previously been diagnosed with high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
I've been working out pretty regularly and I'm glad to say my blood pressure now is normal to almost low. Total win. I had switched to eating almost primarily ground beef with cheese. Usually 93% lean.
One day I had an 80/20 Burger cooked in butter and I poured the butter over the burger patty and ate it. I also had a burger patty for breakfast. I was in bed ridden for over a week. My gallbladder was irritated. I didn't eat for 3 days and had to use the bathroom every 30 minutes for about 3 days.
So I'm not eating ground beef anymore. Just chicken lean pork and fish.

I'm 58 and have primary hyperaldosteronism too. Scans showed no tumors. I've been trying many different things for decades now to improve my condition. For a very long time I've been drinking large amounts of potassium chloride dissolved in water to keep my potassium levels up. Last winter I developed an intestinal infection (completely unrelated to the aldosterone). An abdominal ultrasound showed I had a gallbladder full of stones. They did an endoscopy to pull stones out of the bile duct. In the process they make a slice in the bile duct sphincter to allow the stones to be pulled out. Since then my gallstones have been literally tumbling out. Over the course of about 3 months that stopped. I believe my gallbladder is now mostly stone free. I also noticed my BP was running much closer to normal (it has been very high). This, combined with a low carb animal based diet has me nearly med free at this point. I also only require occasional potassium supplementation now. I suspect the gallstones were somehow the main cause of the hyperaldosteronism.

I’ve had this since in my teens on/off. Use irbsartan and it helps some.. I think I have something off going on with aldosterone levels.. active and workout hard. You’d never think it. Sub 12-15% bf or always around 12-15%.. i once noticed my aldosterone was low (prolly from irbsartan use) I need to get a second opinion on this and move forward. I eat animal based and do stents of low carb carnivore. I often think my BP is from adrenal fatigue aka stress. It’s just so hard to find a doctor to listen to you and do through all the steps to finding the true root cause. Typically you know in 5 mins of meeting a doc if you bring up some “buzz words” like keto etc.. if they are open minded. I once met an eye specialist who told me 90% of our health problems are induced by meds or our diets. He said over my years of practice I’ve seen a lot of issues that wouldn’t even remotely happen any other way, or atleast in his mind it’s a bit unexplainable. Keep killing it Paul!

Same here. Diagnosed with hypertension at 14. I swam in middle school and was a varsity swimmer/water polo player through HS. I was in marching band on the off season. I'm 5' 7" and I was 152lbs. My heartrate averaged about 50bpm if that says anything about my fitness. I ate lots of veggies and grains, low to no sodium, and white meat and whey for protein. They ran diagnostics on my kidneys, found nothing wrong, and gave up. They gave me meds and pretty much said tough luck. They had me on an amlodipine and benazepril combination which got recalled for containing a cancer causing compound, NDEA.
Needless to say I never take my meds and my BP is always great when I'm keto/carnivore.

@@Jafarmarar it’s so ironic you commented. I tried 2 months of adding fruit. Totally around 100g of carbs/day when I was active and training. Carbs were from honey/fruit. My BP rose a bit. I ended up getting back on keto/carnivore and have been around a month. I kept taking 150mg of irbsartan and would get these dizzy spells. I then reduced my dose to 75mg (which is like the pediatric dose) and I checked my BP yesterday. 121/70. I’ve noticed the dizzy spells have subsided when reducing the dose. Maybe I can just stop taking it again. I had a phase where I didn’t take it at all. Ballpark 130/70-80. Doctor berry told me to stop taking it but at the time I also was taking tongkat Ali and i think that was actually raising it a bit. Anyway.. I think keto is the way to go for guys like us. We should connect sometime such similar stories. I also noticed when I don’t eat many carbs my resting HR is lower. Typically 3-5BPM lower. For me, I think my hypertension is an insulin and seed oil thing aka inflammation. Cheers man

I got high bp on a vegatarianish diet with some eggs. Mainly rice, eggs, beans, olive oil & microgreens. All organic. Digestion and energy were good usually but it seemed like I got covid or parasites. Massive blood pressure spikes into deadly zones, kidney and heart pain & eventually got myocarditis, a varicose vein, hyperventilation disorder and more & i'm only 30. And was previously very athletic. I can't say it was DUE to the diet but now that im on animal based, my bp is steady at 110 every time I go to the doctor. Not on any bp meds.
