Yes but the problem is Alan expanded his business slowly over many years. These candidates are promising impossible levels of expansion in just a year. You can spin up a brand and get it everywhere in a year, but it has to have literally millions of pounds behind it. An investment of £250k is only really enough to move you a couple of years ahead of where you could've been yourself; more valuable is access to the experienced business people around you and the media coverage.

She really just enjoys being cruel and needlessly nasty. What a vile toxic woman. The others don’t go in like this; they are stern and formidable and thorough. Linda isn’t even entertaining, her behaviour is utterly revolting.

In business you are put under MAJOR pressure… and there’s a £250,000 investment on the line here, a quarter of a MILLION pounds. The whole point of these interviews is to see how the candidates handle the pressure, and how well they can stick up for their businesses when challenged. That’s why all 4 interviewers focus on specific areas of the business and person. You get composed people like Ricky Martin who stayed very calm, defended himself well and accepted where he had made mistakes, then you get the ones like Elizabeth who just treats it as an argument to be won by being cheeky and arrogant when asked some very simple questions. You actually see the interviewers talking about the positives of each business when they report back to Lord Sugar afterwards, and what they liked about some of the candidates, even though they gave them a grilling.
