Claude lured Solomon into a false sense of security and then destroyed him 🤣🤣
Indeed, but frustratingly, they will have seen this 'business plan' prior to him being chosen as one of the Apprentices. Succeeding to the end of the series only to be told your business plan is shit, seems a tad crass. Considering Lord Sugar has viewed the plans before the first task.
they are /were and nasty .. rude no need to be nasty to these candidates.. they are only trying to get on in life .. these interviewers they all had to start somewhere

Solomon's interview remains one of my favourite Apprentice moments - he sits there lapping up the praise thinking he's nailed it, then when Claude rubbishes his business plan as "a bloody disgrace" it knocks him for six. "You can leave. Goodbye." "Can I argue the... Can I say..." "There's nothing to argue - you've given me pictures of sailboats."
If Claude hadn't pointed out that he was leaving the wrong way I imagine he would have hidden in a cleaning cupboard until they'd finished filming.
I can imagine Claude in an old people’s home one day, sitting in the corner on his own, rocking back and forth just saying to himself:
‘Pictures of sailboats, pictures of sailboats… bloody disgrace… pictures of sailboats…’
Funny now as he really is the best making millions...well done.

@@jgsh8062 Did you read his business plan? Lol as if though writing a business plan likely with big time constraints is the same as running a business... Im pretty sure hes now the most successful of them all despite what they did to him on this show.

I will never understand how someone who gets accepted to be on show doesn't go to a accountant and a bank with buisness plan to make sure finances and actual plan is decent and written properly and professionally.

They don't want people who go to accountants and make sure the plan is decent. The people who get on TV are the arrogant sods who think they're gonna be the next big thing.
My friend was accepted, has her own special FX business that’s been running and profitable for a while now. She turned it down because she needed to be away from her family for 11 weeks. Was told; fair enough, that’s why people in the entertainment industry are usually cast 🙃
A lot of these people are cocky and don’t think they need help with their plans
They don't pick best candidates about probably about 12 of the 16 are just filler but lord sugar leaves a good few in, if it was impartial he should not be allowed to see business plan till the interview stage.
Claude . A hero. In fact all of the interviewers were great in destroying these jumped up complete jerks.

Standard interview techniques to flush out the bullshit and see if candidate knows what they speaking about. I bet claude is hoping for candidate to shoot him down with facts,figures and passion proving they know there buisness inside out and will fight for it.
U can be critical without being rude. If hes being a jerk just for ratings, then hes an even worse jerk for doing it for his own self interest at the expense of the contestants. Fake or not its not for him to judge. His job is onli to vet the proposal. But guess hes abusing his position. I have no sympathy for his accident or watnot. Karma is painful and it comes sooner than he thinks. Time for early retirement

@Louis Williams no. It's a combination of hiring the candidates that will cause natural drama with their personalities, editing, and producers egging them on.

Noticed what he did. Made eye contact. Said "good morning, Claude" on approach, smiled, made eye-contact. He even got Claude to smile.

The thing I hate about these is the idea that rudeness from employers is acceptable. Anybody treated me like this in an interview, I'd turn them down.
That said, it makes bloody good telly. The contestants this series are the worst and I cannot wait to see them go through this.
I'd say a lot is to get a reaction.
Is the contestant going to crumble or come out fighting.
Ricky handled the interview with Claude perfectly. He acknowledged writing ridiculous things in his statement without going too far and also dealt with further difficult questions or potential issues with his business plan very well.
I would say if you met the interviewers in a real business setting they would be very different people.
It's a shame Claude isn't here this season due to injury.
It's direct, not rude, and it's a way to test your performance under stress. You just need to decide whether or not you're comfortable handling that stress. One day your colleagues will be ripping your ideas to shreds, the next day you'll be celebrating the contract you won as a team. Better that than your colleagues tiptoe around your feelings, don't say anything, the team has to go with one of your terrible ideas because they didn't have the guts to tell you it was bad, and you lose the contract. Being direct saves time and whether or not you can handle it or take it personally will determine whether or not you can be successful in certain environments.
Also, interviews are not usually held by your employer, they're held by a prospective employer or investor. The difference being that they don't know you from Adam and they have a limited time to obtain the info they need to make a decision, so yeah they're going to be direct.

That Ricky Martin clip, in a nutshell, is exactly why he won. Fed a perfect opportunity to slip-up by Claude, and he knocks it out the park..... One of the most worthy winners.....
Ricky knew exactly how he was going to be a success.
Ricky went on to be quite probably the most successful winner Lord Sugar ever had. Stella English was a complete disaster and Joseph Valente went bust (although he later rebuilt himself).
Then Ricky ended up back in the interviews, only this time on the other side of the desk.

It's funny that Solomon's interview was the exact opposite of Ricky's lol. Poor, obnoxious personal statement on Ricky's CV, but amazing business proposal. Solomon had a great CV, but a business proposal that was a utter disgrace by Claude 😂
It helped Ricky's case that he never tried to excuse what he wrote in there either. Let's be honest, he probably wrote it that way just so he'd get accepted on the show in the first place.

Ricky was trying so hard not to laugh when Claude brought up the "teach an old dog new tricks" comment. Props to him in the rest of the interview though, you could tell Claude was really engaged and pleased with what he was hearing.

Ricky Martin got absolutely rekt by Claude, but is now one of Sugar's biggest success stories.
He's the only candidate that Claud has shaken the hand of.
He knew he was a winner despite giving him a good grilling

Who the hell would draw stupid little pictures like that in their business plan? It's like a lesson in hyroglyphics.
I really laughed my head off when I saw them because it's was a good CV and business plan until I saw nothing but pictures of sailboats and the fact he went the wrong way too!

For "overpromised" I read "lied continuously and then lied a bit more" even when the jig was up.
Always my favourite week because of how utterly soul shattering they are.

One of the best ones was missed! A guy said he could solve a rubix cube in under a minute, so the interviewer bought out a cube and timed him 😂

If I ever get into a debate with anyone I always try to keep my mind open to the possibility that what I'm saying is completely wrong. Anyone who believes they're never wrong is pretty much denying the fact that they're human and capable of making mistakes.

Everyone talks about Claude Littner, but they need to talk more about Mike Soutar.
The best detective amongst the interviewers, and it's not close.
Never watched the apprentice before, walked into my flatmates watching it and solely based on appearance sorted each person into 'twat' and 'not a twat.' Got 100% right.
Say want you want about Linda but she’s bloody fantastic at cutting deluded idiots down to size, so is Claude tbf😂
I remember the episode where Claude was really angry and he absolutely destroyed one of the interviewees and in fact all the interviewers seemed pissed off, i think it was the final series with Nick Hewer.

nick hewer left the series after working with Lord Sugar for 30 years and complained that it had become ratings driven, if was very suprised that the bbc and gone to Sugar at all given Sir Alan Sugar terrible time with the media at White Heart Lane. Claude Littner took over Nick Hewers role on the show.
NIck Hewer revealed that the bbc had told them all for ratings point of view to be more agressive and that was not his style. Lord Sugar begged him to stay but he said no and they brought in Claude Littner in his place
I like watching these and think if that's the sort of creature you become I'll stick to the 9 to 5

Ricky was a recruitment consultant on ‘The nine to five with Stacey dooley.’ Seems like he’s been able to climb the ladder.
Ricky's interview was not a disaster, it was probably one of the best in the show's history, the man did everything right and got the respect of Claude.

This is absurd. First guy came in, he went in for a handshake with "Nice to meet you" and the disrespect he got from Claude is beyond reasoning. I dont care who you are, what you do or own, but showing respect is always a must. I was in such situations where respect is not mutual, and felt so much better when I just turned around and left. Dont let anyone disrespect you, ever!

The reality is that if you are good candidate on paper the interviewers will likely go out of their way to make you feel comfortable so that they can progress you to the next stage. If for whatever reason they don't want to hire you, they will be hostile/disinterested from the get go and no matter what you say your chances of getting the job (or even wanting the job by the end of the unpleasant process) is virtually nil.

If you think these are intense, then you should all watch season 1-3. A different ball game with real life sharks and not TV personalities, when the show was a little older and rougher.
