  • This week we follow Bob Beck on his 2017 Oregon Elk hunt. Late season in Oregon can be tough...you're guaranteed weather, but don't want too much! Short days and big country make it tough to find just the right bull to punch Bobs tag! Follow along on Part 2 of Searching for the One!

I really liked the format you used for this episode, where you had very little talking or music for the majority of the show. Very cool. That Bull has some awesome color to his antlers, congrats on a really great Bull!

As a Park Ranger, I've watched annually as late season elk are pushed down onto private land (or reservation land) winter grazing either by weather and/or hunting resulting from 4 seasons of hard hunting pressure. The hunters are up on the mountain beating the brush while the elk are laying down in the open fields chewing their cud. In these cases, its best for hunters to scout elk escape routes to find the herd. I know they don't talk about such things in magazines and videos, but it is a fact! Find where the elk are crossing and ground blind that location. Early morning before elk cross fence lines is best!

Love Oregon hunt vids, I drew imnaha bull tags this year. I know by the looks of the backdrop you guys were in that general vicinity, so you know where I'm going. I've never shot a bull so I'm hoping to get A bull but it would be awesome to see one like this. Great job!!!

Thanks Chris! There was some serious issues with portions of the bull, and some of the meat wasn't salvageable

Did he draw the premium tag or was it an outfitters tag?

Thank you for watching Jose; not sure that Bob ever put a tape to it. He/the team we pumped to get a crack at an old, mature, especially with such little time left to hunt.

Another hunt which takes ten guys to get a elk.

The G3's are good. The length of G4 and G5 are not that long. Still a good bull. I would have shot it for the location.
